Chapter Twenty: The Serum
Gabriel held onto the bottle, as the bartender and Cassie looked over at him.
" Well that was intense" the bartender points out to which Cassie rolls her eyes.
" Gabriel.." Cassie says, putting her own bottle down and found herself more concerned about Gabriel.
" Look, I'm sorry that happened. But I'm glad you are seeing her for who she is. I'm willing to help you fight the Vampires. I literally have nothing else to do with my life besides getting drunk and awaiting death" Cassie offered. Though she knew she also knew that if she and Gabriel were to never return, the Underworld would be destroyed. Which would not make all that much difference to her considering their people had been killed and she partially wanted to leave everyone to their own devices. But she knew Gabriel was noble and he would never allow for that. He would help the Underworld even though he had nothing to go back to. Especially now.
" Thank you" Gabriel finally said. " But don't get the wrong idea. Me and Kara might be done. But that doesn't mean I'm going to mate with you. I don't care that you are going through the mating hungers. If you come with me, do not make any moves on me whatsoever, or I will feed you to the Vampires myself" Gabriel tips the bottle tip to his lips. " That is fine..just let me go back to my place and get a few things..I'll be back " Cassie smiles and exits the bar. Gabriel could still smell her and trembled at the scent. This was going to be a lot more difficult than he could ever realize.
Cassie went back to her place, loading up the things she felt she would need for the journey. She gathered some left over food she had, along a few bottles of some type of liquid that she knew she needed.
" I have to stop this" Cassie said to herself as she packed the bottles in. " They don't even help" She complained as she put the last bottle in. " I have got to get myself under control" She said as her eyes begin to change into a deep fire red color, her breathing began to accelerate. " Dammit". She had spent too long around Gabriel and she knew it. She was beginning to lose control. She was at the right age to be mated, and as such with most Lycan females, when they find themselves in heat, they give off a scent that attracts males. However, the makes scent intensifies as well for the female. Making them crave them. This was the time for them to breed and without a mate, it was next to unbearable for the female whilst the male, was badly frustrated, it was nothing in comparison to the female. And the stinger the male, the stronger the scent. With Gabriel being an Alpha, the strongest of his kind, the craving was overwhelming. " I can't...I fucking can't " Cassie cries and reaches in her pack and pulls out one of the bottles, popping the tiny little cork that kept it closed, out, and poured it down her throat.
Slowly but surely, her breathing calmed down and she was able to start thinking clearly again. " Fucking hell" she cried as she dropped the bottle on the ground, her legs beginning to shake as she fell to the floor. " No..No..this isn't good. This isn't good, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! " she whimpered.
The serum she had wasn't working. She had not been around Gabriel that much before in the past and unfortuently she had reached her breeding phase around the same time she came to Earth. Which would have been fine, if Gabriel hadn't shown up as well.
And now this was a problem. A problem that she wasn't sure she would be able to get herself out of. She tries to get back to her feet and manages to do so after several failed attempts. Once she was stable enough, she reached down in her pack and took out another bottle. She popped out the cork and downed another bottle of the serum which immediately helped her find relief. She pulled herself onto a chair and sat down. Staring wide eyed at the wall in front of her. " Fuck.." She panted. She had never taken two bottles like that before. It got the job done but she knew she would be going through these bottles fast. The serum, was a tranquilizer of sorts that helped calmed her hunger and lust for a short time. " Come On Cas, you gotta get up " Cassie stood back to her feet, and finished packing her bag, threw it over her shoulder and made her way outside. She made her way down to the bar where she had left Gabriel and found him still sitting at it. He had went through 3 more bottles in the time that she had left. " Okay, I'm ready to go " she smiled as she walked up to him and nudged him slightly. " Okay. Let's go"
