The sand finally settled and we were brought up short by the sight before us. The wall had crumbled completely but the water hadn't filled the room. A bright blue film stood where the wall used to be, protecting the occupants of the room. With caution, we approached slowly until I could lay my hand on the strange, energy-like wall. It was smooth, harder than stone, and apparently nearly indestructible, judging by the lack of damage caused by the explosions.
Inside, a figure barely distinguishable in the thick, swirling fog, was moving from bed to bed, checking the occupants of the room. We tried shining a light to see better, but it reflected back by the strange wall as if it we were pointing to a mirror.
"More explosives, sir?" asked the Sergeant. His voice trembled a little and his eyes were so wide that the white showed. In the little screen of my mask, the Secretary of State and the General sat, stunned, matching incredulous expressions on their faces.
