Chapter 3

The night stars were shining brightly in the clear night sky. It was a full moon and the moon was glowing more than ever.

Zero sat on his balcony outside, his bedroom's doors were wide open.

Zero let out a sigh as he was sat on top of the pillars of the balcony.

Zero stared into the nights sky.

From his view he could see the entire town.

Zero looked down at central park.

He looked at all the different coloured lights that had been wrapped around the tree's, bushes and benches. It really is beautiful.

Zero smiled a little.

At least the town I'm going to be the King of is exactly how Zero's Mum wanted.

"Can I have everyone's attention please!" Came a male's voice.

That little bit of happiness just disappeared.

Zero looked over to where the voice came from.

Zero rolled his eyes as he saw his best friend and personal bodyguard Dante walk into the middle of the park, catching everyone's attention.

On behalf of the Prince, I just want to say thank you all for attending, as you know every year we open the palace gardens to all visitors, this will be open in two days for the entire summer. I would also like to inform that we have some new jobs that will be available within the next few days. We will be placing posters around the town for all new jobs available. One last thing, at the end of summer there will be a summer ball in the palace, tickets will be out sooner to the date and everyone is invited. That is all, thank you and enjoy the party." Dante said as he read from a scroll.

Zero groaned and threw his head backwards, his eyes on the night sky.

"The summer ball..." Zero thought as he sighed. "A great night for everyone..."

A loud cough interrupted Zero's thoughts.

Zero turned his head over his shoulder to see a male around his age with hazel brown eyes and Dirty blonde hair. He was in a red, smart suit.

"Hi Dante." Zero said as he looked back at the night sky.

Dante made his way over to Zero and sat down next to him.

"The summer ball sounds like fun, don't you think? All the pretty girls and the dancing..." Dante said as he started day dreaming about all the pretty girls, in pretty dresses.

"Nope." Zero replied bluntly.

"How could you say that!? Think about how many women will be throwing themselves at you!" Dante said with a surprised look on his face.

"Who would want that?" Zero replied making eye contact with Dante.

"Me!" Dante replied as he put his hand in the air and had a huge grin on his face.

Zero rolled his eyes.

"How are you my bodyguard?" Zero asked looking at central park.

"Because your Father thinks I'm great!" Dante grinned as he followed Zero's eyes and looked at the park.

"So what's the real problem with summer balls?" Dante asked curiously.

"Every year when the summer ball starts, my father is constantly bugging me about getting married. He makes me meet every Princess that attends to see which one is suitable for me." Zero explained as he looked at all the people having a good time.

"And what's wrong with that!?" Dante asked confused.

"I want to marry someone I actually love, not some fake ass bullshit like this!" Zero responded as he started to feel angry about the situation.

"Wow, I didn't realise it made you so angry, I've been doing it because your Father has ordered me to. And not just an order from the King. Your father does it because he wants you to be happy." Dante explained with a sheepish look on his face.

"Then why doesn't he ask me how I feel about all this!?" Zero asked annoyed.

"Because it's a tradition. A royalty cannot break this tradition."

Zero let out a loud, long sigh.

"Look, why don't you go down there? I won't tell anyone." Dante said shrugging his shoulders.

"But how? Everyone will see me." Zero replied glancing at Dante.

"Just change you're clothes." Dante said as he made his way into Zero's bedroom.

Zero swung his legs around the pillar and followed Dante.

"Here." Dante said throwing clothes onto the bed.

Zero walked over and went through it.

A black pair of trousers, a black shirt and a black hoody.

Dante then picked up a pair of trainers and placed them on the floor in front of me.

"Be quick." Dante said as he stepped out the bedroom.

Zero quickly changed into the outfit Dante requested.

Dante knocked and then entered.

Zero sat on the bed and put his trainers on.

"Go out the back way, I will cover for you." Dante ordered as he pushed me towards the balcony.

Zero nodded as he climbed over the pillars and climbed his way down.

"Don't be too long!" Dante called down to Zero.

As Zero got to the ground he looked up at Dante nodding at him.

Dante nodded back as he watched Zero run off.

Dante let out a sigh as he turned around, sighed, then walked back into the Prince's bedroom.

Zero made his way through garden to the back gate which lead to the park.

Zero stood behind a tree and looked at all the people that were singing, drinking and dancing.

Zero let out a nervous sigh and with his hood up covering his face, Zero walked towards the drinks table and finished the drink in one hit.

Zero's eyes fell on the cake table and with his head down and still covered, made his way towards the cakes.

With his eyes on the floor, Zero didn't noticed there was someone in front of him until it was too late.

As Zero's eyes looked up he watched in surprise as his stomach knocked what looked like a chocolate cake into someone else's stomach.

Zero's eyes lifted until he met a pair of bright blue eyes.

His eyes opened wide in shock as he noticed the cake all over the female's dress.

"I'm so sorry!" Zero said quickly, he couldn't look away from her. "I wasn't looking, here let me help you."

Zero put his hand in his junper pocket, felt a clean napkin and pulled it out.

Zero then started wiping the chocolate icing off her dress, feeling guilty.

"No, no it's fine it was my fault,I wasn't looking where I was going." The female replied with a surprised look on her face.

Her voice was soft and sweet.

Zero looked at the female and gave her a warm smile.

A warm sensation ran through his body as their eyes never left each other's.

She had a beautiful smile.

The longer Zero stared at her the more red her cheeks got

"Are you ok? Your cheeks have gone red.. " Zero asked and without thinking his hand rose and touched the female's cheek.

"Oh, yeah I'm fine. I'm sorry, I got cake on you too..." she replied as she grabbed a clean napkin off the table next to them and started wiping Zero's jumper.

As Zero went to speak a female voice came out instead of mine.

"Chloe!? Where are you!?"

Who is that?

"Shit,I need to go." Zero said quickly as he turned on his heel and jogged back towards the trees before disappearing from eyesight and made his way back to the palace.

Zero got to the back garden of the palace and climbed up his balcony.

As he climbed over the pillar Dante appeared in Zero's bedroom doorway.

"Your father asked for you but I told him you was sleeping." Dante said as he made his way over to Zero's side.

"Thank you Dante." Zero replied as he glanced back down towards the central park.

"How was it?" Dante asked as he also looked towards the park.

"It was ok." Zero replied even though all he could think about was the beautiful blue eyed girl he had just met.

"Any pretty ladies!?" Dante asked eagerly.

"I would say so." Zero replied a smile on his face.

"Who is she?" Dante asked noticing Zero's strange smiling.

"I don't know." Zero replied realising he didn't get her name.

Dante cocked an eyebrow confused.

"I didn't get her name..." Zero explained noticing dante's confused look.

"Oh ok, would you recognise her if you saw her again?" Dante asked looking back at central park.

"Yes." Zero replied quickly with a nod.

"So? What does she look like?" Dante asked.

"She has big blue eyes, other than that there is cake on her dress."Zero replied.

"Nothing else? No hair colour?" Dante asked looking at central park.

"I didn't see anything else."Zero frowned as he tried to look for any sign of the girl.

"Ok, well can I make an assumption?" Dante asked curiously.

"Sure." Zero replied.

He scanned the central park but he couldn't see anything. He was slowly starting to feel disappointed.

"You see over there?" Dante asked pointing at central park.

Zero walked over to dante's side and tried to look where Dante was pointing.

"Under those bright fairy lights at the back? There's a girl wiping another girls dress... could that be her?"Dante asked pointing down at a girl with long golden brown hair.

Zero adjusted his eyes and focused to where Dante was talking about.

As Zero watched he noticed two guys walk over to the girl.

"That's her!" Zero said with a smile on his face, as he watched the girl turn her head.

The girls eyes glistened in the fairy lights.

"Ok, so now how do you plan on introducing yourself properly?" Dante asked.

Zero sighed as his never left the unknown girl.

"I don't know." Zero said slowly.

Dante let out a hum as he tried to think of an idea.

"Why don't you write her a letter?" Dante asked.

"And say what? Hi I'm the prince..." Zero replied as he watched the girl start to leave the central park.

"Well you could apologise for whatever the situation is on the cake, you've got some on your jumper, then you could invite her to the gardens, you can go right to the back, no one will see you and again I will cover for you." Dante explained quickly. "Now all we need is her address to send the letter."

"Well I'm guessing that's her house..." Zero said watching the unknown girl fumble about in her bag and pull out a set of keys.

She was standing with two other girls who were laughing.

The girl then opened a door and the three girls stumbled into the building.

"Ok, I will hand deliver it. Now, get some rest." Dante ordered as he walked towards Zero's bedroom, zero right behind him.

Zero got changed into a pair of shorts and climbed into his king size bed in his master bedroom and slowly drifted off to sleep.
