When Midori returned home that day, she brought a very shy and timid Mai with her.
This action naturally invited a frown on Chie's face.
"Midori-san, I have dismissed Mai-san from this household," she reminded Midori with an icy tone. "What is she doing here?"
"I hired her to be my personal maid," Midori quipped. "Naturally, she has to stay with me the entire time."
"We have enough maids here to serve you. If you want a personal maid, Keiko is yours."
"Oh, no, no, no. I know Mai-chan, and Mai-chan knows me. Am I not entitled to select my own maid?"
Chie's eyes bulged from fury.
"You...!"
"This is the Takigawa house still," Midori reminded his sister-in-law. "And I am a Takigawa Ojou-sama. It's my prerogative to employ the people I want. Sorry if it offends you, Chie-san."
Midori beckoned Mai to come with her.
"Come, Mai, let's put your stuff back to your room."
Chie scoffed at their backs.
