As Inspector Serizawa and Arata studied the list, they, too, couldn't help but be struck by the potential implication of treason within the Yamagata family towards the Meiji government.
"Bold, a very bold assumption," Inspector Serizawa echoed Kiyoshi's comment from the previous night. He pressed his hands flat against the rough surface of the wooden table, his gaze sweeping across the list, absorbing each name inscribed upon it.
"It is bold," Midori agreed, "But it is worth investigating, is it not?"
The three men in the room -- Inspector Serizawa, Arata, and Kiyoshi -- exchanged glances with each other.
"It is," Arata agreed. "Not to mention that the Yamagata family is one of the few families who has enough resources to hide away the rebel forces."
"They have land and properties all over Japan," Kiyoshi remarked. "Although I doubt that they happily provide one as the base of the rebel forces' operation."
