"You feel something?" Ritter suddenly opened his eyes. His face looked alert. His golden eyes spun around. The man got up and sat up with a tense body. The sky is already dark. No wonder the criminals began to act. He must have overslept.
"Yes. It seems that there are other forces around us." Volker was on guard. "They don't use magic protection?" Volker felt strange. The power felt so great. Volker could feel it.
"They don't use it." Ritter now crouched down and put the mask on his face again. "The culprit must be feeling the upper hand since the Remilis soldiers have already withdrawn."
Ritter's entire face is completely covered. Only his eyes were still visible. "Looks like we should split up." Ritter still felt the presence of that power growing.
"Right, be careful," suggested Volker, who immediately got a nod from Ritter.
"I go." After saying that, Ritter ran fast as if his body was as light as cotton.
Volker was not surprised to see that. He and Ritter had studied lightning from a young age. But even so, Volker sometimes used it. He prefers to appear normal, like an average Rodenis.
Ritter was out of sight. Volker concentrated on feeling his surroundings again. There is a power that feels strong there. Volker quickly climbed up the tree to get a better look. Nothing is visible, but the emphasis is not lost. But after that, three figures appeared carrying torches, spears, and arrows. A hunter's robe covered their whole body. They were the bait used to lure Meiga out. Three humans from Delmis Village.
Volker was still staring at the figure when a sudden burst of mist came over him. The white smog was like usual fog at first, but the white smoke turned pitch black over time. The mist clumped together and rolled one of them around in the air.
The sudden attack surprised the other two; they needed clarification on what they saw. If they attacked, in front of them was only a mass of black mist that kept rolling over one of their comrades. Volker was now trying to help them with his magic from where he was standing.
Volker's eyes closed for a moment, then opened again.
"Laphimeus."
Above his hand appeared a thick black mist. Volker aimed his mist at the fog that attacked the three humans. The fog seemed to mix. The opposing force felt so strong that Volker found it increasingly difficult to hold back the smog in his hands.
In a single stroke, Volker could push the plume of smog until it seemed to fade away so that the man he was holding captive escaped.
"Aaaa…." The man's voice floating in the air slammed hard on the ground. Her miserable screams filled the forest. Two of his friends then approached to help.
"Are you okay?" he asked. They tried to wake up their friend carefully. The mist that had just attacked him was no longer visible. It just disappeared.
"That's not Gendewa. Those thugs are only casting their magic to trick us." The person who had just received the attack spoke. His body which had just been slammed into the ground with great force now felt excruciating pain. He was just an ordinary human who didn't have any powers.
"I know. I believe it was Lord Volker who helped us to attack the fog."
"Then shall we continue?"
"Of course. Come on, we still have a lot of energy to do a lot tonight."
Volker has helped them to uncover the perpetrators who have killed many humans. They couldn't back down just because they were frightened. In the end, they all continued on their way. But this time, they had to be more vigilant and careful.
Volker was eager to spit out the culprit for toying with him. They have many ways to attack humans. That culprit was troublesome. He only hoped that tonight had not been in vain. He wanted to catch the culprit and punish him severely quickly.
Meanwhile, the two men enjoy the spectacle in another place but are annoyed that they are unsuccessful this time.
"Is there a Rodenis here? You know the mist that attacked me just now has great power."
"That must be Volker." Answer the others. "You don't need to rush to finish them off. Those humans simply don't have any powers."
"I hate them."
"Of course I know. Even your hatred for humans, is not comparable to my hatred for Volker."
The golden-eyed man didn't say anything as the man beside him disdained Volker. Her glance was full of meaning, but he didn't want to respond.
"Aren't they too stupid? They haven't even found us yet. That's why magic is always profitable for us. Ah… I'll live well when I've succeeded in killing that damn Volker. He has wiped out many of our people."
He would harshly swear at the man beside him if the golden eye answered. After all, it was their clan that always got into trouble first. That had even gone hundreds of years ago, and he still hated Volker. It's disgusting. He would have killed the man beside him if he didn't want to take revenge on the humans. Unfortunately, his strength was inferior to that man. And they work together to get revenge on each other.
Because the golden eyes did not give any response, the man who wanted to finish off Volker turned and grinned sharply. "Why? You don't like me insulting your clan?" he laughed arrogantly. "You guys are stupid, right? I even want to kill all of you."
"You could never do it." The golden eyes answered. "You should remember the fact that the Rodenis are the strongest clan on the Erter Continent."
The man finally stopped talking because he felt that what the golden-eyed man said was the truth. That sounds a little annoying. But who would care? What mattered to him now was that Volker would soon die at his hands. His smile looked happy, imagining Volker's body lying stiff because of death.
