32- The furious Little dragon spirit

Zhong Peng was utterly taken aback upon hearing Longwei's voice. He had been attempting to establish contact with him for some time now but to no avail. Yet here Longwei was, responding of his own accord, and with a great deal of fury in his tone.

" May I ask what you mean by that? " Zhong Peng inquired with great curiosity. He had been tirelessly seeking ways to gain an advantage in the contest.

" With my power, what would be defeating those weaklings be for me?" Longwei boasted with pride.

Upon hearing Longwei's words, Zhong Peng could not help but palm his face in disappointment.

" What can a young serpent-like you possibly do? "Zhong Peng said in a taunting manner.

Immediately after uttering those words, Zhong Peng felt a chill run down his spine as Longwei suddenly materialized on his shoulder.

The serpent bore more crimson scales on its body than the last time it appeared, but Zhong Peng paid no heed to that. Instead, he was overcome by a sense of overwhelming terror as he sensed an intense killing intent directed at him.

The killing intent was akin to a vast ocean, crashing down upon Zhong Peng to drown him.

He was taken aback by the ferocious killing intent emanating from the small but mighty Longwei, which left him in utter shock. The immense pressure bearing down on him was almost too much to bear, prompting him to attempt to circulate his qi energy to resist the force. However, his efforts proved futile.

" Before, I have made it clear that I AM NOT A SERPENT!!! " bellowed Longwei, his voice filled with intense fury.

Immediately after his declaration, Longwei unleashed a powerful assault on Zhong Peng's chest, causing him to cough up a mouthful of blood from the impact.

With anger still etched on his face, Longwei stood his ground and uttered, " To think that lowly trash like you wishes to become my master. Such a laughable fate! " This time, not only was there anger in his expression but also a deep sense of disappointment as he gazed upon Zhong Peng with his small yet formidable presence.

Upon hearing Longwei's words, Zhong Peng felt a mixture of anger and shame, yet he remained silent, still reeling from the pain of Longwei's attack. As he gazed upon the fury etched on Longwei's countenance, he was overcome by a fear unlike any he had ever experienced before.

" Please, do not be so angry. I was merely jesting, " Zhong Peng said, attempting to force a warm smile despite the fear still lingering within him.

" Do you have any idea how long I have waited for a worthy inheritor to wield me in battle? I have waited for what seems like an eternity, and yet, after all these years of waiting, heaven has chosen to punish me by bringing forth unworthy trash like you as my inheritor, " Longwei said, his heart heavy with disappointment and regret.

Zhong Peng had heard such words countless times, but it was the first time he had heard them spoken with such raw emotion.

" Please, I implore you to calm your anger. There is no need for all this hostility. I am certain that I am not entirely without worth, " Zhong Peng said, hoping to placate Longwei's wrath. "I never forced you to choose me as your inheritor. It was a choice you made on your own" he added silently, not daring to voice his thoughts aloud.

Longwei's fury replaced all other emotions as he demanded, "Tell me, what is it that makes you anything but worthless? Your mind is feeble, your cultivation weak, and your words are nothing but empty trash. Enlighten me, if you can, on exactly what it is that makes you worth anything "

As Zhong Peng was on the verge of speaking up to defend himself, he caught sight of Longwei's face and was taken aback by the sheer intensity of his killing intent.

Small crimson flames flickered in his eyes, and Zhong Peng could see that Longwei's anger had reached its boiling point.

Realizing that it would be unwise to further provoke him, Zhong Peng wisely chose to keep his mouth shut.

He was still reeling from the earlier attack he had suffered at the hands of Longwei and knew that he was in no position to challenge him again.

Longwei observed that Zhong Peng had chosen to remain silent, and with a playful tone, he remarked, " As expected, you are nothing but trash. "

Ignoring Longwei's taunts, Zhong Peng spoke up and said, " You mentioned earlier that you could assist me in gaining an advantage during the contest. What do you mean by that"

Longwei responded with a question of his own, " Why should I help you? "

Zhong Peng explained his reasons, feeling somewhat helpless. " I need your help because if I can secure a good position in the contest, I may be allowed to join a big sect. And as I become stronger, it will ultimately benefit you as well " However, in his mind, he added furiously, "I didn't even ask for your help in the first place. You were the one who offered to assist me. Why are you acting like a spoiled brat now? "

As Zhong Peng glanced toward Longwei, he noticed an intense anger in his eyes that caught him off guard.

" What did I do wrong this time? " Zhong Peng wondered to himself. Suddenly, it occurred to him that Longwei might have the ability to read his thoughts and that he might have heard what Zhong Peng had been thinking earlier. "What have I done?" Zhong Peng silently added to himself, feeling a sense of dread wash over him.
