Mom

"Whao, whao why are you all giving me that look" he turned to his mom "Mom, this mission just takes more time, nothing serious. Since I won't be able to contact you for a long time I thought if paying you a visit before I leave. That's all mom" but his mom knitted her brows together.

"Are you sure sweetheart?" she asked. He smiled reassuringly at her. His felt them relax a little, he heaved a sigh of relief but his sister is giving him suspicious looks. Right. she'd never believe his lame excuses. She tried to catch his eye but he didn't meet her gaze. Instead he turned to his father and asked in his usual provoking tone.

"How come the great director yun shao is home? I heard that your film has been released last week, shouldn't you be surrounded by reporters all the time?" his father's expression grew stony. He could fee his mom's hand nudging him, urging him to shut up. His father arched a brow and said

"I'm here because of my daughter. I wanted ti spend some quality time with her. You got a problem with it yun shen?" cassian smirked.

"Ofcourse not" he stood up and extended his hand to his mom "Let's go upstairs mom, I don't want to disturb their quality time" he said wantedly emphasizing the word quality. His mother shook her head and they went upstairs after that.

"Why do you have to talk to him like that?" his mother said as soon as they entered his room. He loved his room, his mother decorated his room personally when he was young. He loved all the colors, the photos and furnitures. His mother always knew his favourites. He sat down on his bed and looked up at his mom who is trying hard not to get angry at him. He smiled. He liked this too. She never gets angry with him no matter what he did.

"Old habits mom" was all he said. Xi ara sighes and sat down beside him.

"So? how many days are you going to stay?" xi ara asked as she ruffled his hair. He closed his eyes and leaned in to her touch, forgetting the mission, the risk, the tensions for a moment.

"Just till tomorrow morning mom, I told I'm going on a mission right?" he said quietly. she paused and asked

"Be careful okay?" he opened his eyes and turned to look at her.

"I will mom" he reassured her once again though he himself was not sure what's gonna happen to them in this mission. His mom nodded and they spoke sometime about how his sister is getting more annoying as the days passed and how she's worried that the baby may inherit her mom's temper which cassian thought would be a trouble bigger than this mission. Then he asked, keeping face as casual and curious as he could

"Mom you've been an actress since you were 19 years old right?" she nodded

"Why do you ask?" here we go he thought and said

"While I was on my way here I saw the hye family's farm house mom, you know, that earned a reward for its architecture." his mom nodded

"Yeah I remember" she said. He turned and asked

"I remember hye rin is a very popular actress that time. Why did she suddenly quit mom?" he carefully observed the expressions on her face. Xi ara's eyes went distant like she was remembering something. She spoke after sometime

"Hye rin was a child artist. She was in the entertainment industry since she was 7 years old I think. She's an excellent actress. I know this because I acted alongside her." that made cassian sit up straight.

"You acted alongside her? when?" he asked. Maybe they are friends. Maybe his mom knew something about her. His excitement grew. He looked at his mom eagerly.

"Yeah.That was my second film. But then I was just a side actress. But I remember this clearly because that is when I met your father" she smiled fondly at the memory and went on

"Your father was just a mere assistant of the director then." Cassian arched a brow.

"Assistant director?" he asked. She shook her head.

"Just an assistant. He used to wipe the director's sweat, bring him water and chair to sit. He was that kind of assistant" cassian grinned. He would've paid a fortune to watch his father serving someone. But he kept his face neutral when his mom glared at him.

"He was a good man. He worked hard to achieve what he had today. Okay, keeping that aside, hye rin was the lead actress in that movie. She was an incredible actress yun shen. You just can't take your eyes off her." cassian furrowed his brows.

"Then why did she quit acting?" he asked again. Xi ara shook her head.

"I don't know. By the time I became famous, she was married and then after sometime she disappeared from the entertainment industry. The chaos her fans instilled after she left, I couldn't even imagine having that many fans. There were so many rumors that time. Everyone had a different story of why she left." he squinted his eyes.

"What kind of rumours mom?" he asked. She tilted her head and thought for a moment.

"Some said that her husband didn't want her to act so she quit, some said that she lost in intrest in acting after she went abroad with her husband, some said that she couldn't act and that she was facing some kind of problem while acting so she quit, which by the way sounded ridiculous to me. I mean why would an excellent actress like her couldn't bring herself to act? She literally dedicated her whole life to acting, she was a legend at that time." she said. Cassian fell in thought.

"She never showed up in public after that?" he asked. Xi ara shook her head.

"l don't think she did. Her husband would always appear alone in any kind of event." Xi ara stared in to his eyes and asked

"Why are you suddenly interested in hye rin?" cassian shrugged.

"Just curious" he said. She sighed and said

"When I think about her I still feel bad sometimes. She was not so close to me but she was an acquaintance. I've seen her striving to become successful. I guess love didn't quite work out for her" cassian paused.

"Love?" he asked. She raised her brows.

"You didn't know. William's and hye rin's love story was so famous that time"
