Chapter 10: Spins of new Beginnings

I couldn't sleep the whole night while watching the dawn settling on the court and announcing the new day. I just had spent my first night here and the nightmare was still on going. I shut my eyes and leaned my head against the wall when suddenly door got opened and of the courtesan's walked in.

"The castle sent you clothes. The King wants you to dance for him and for the in-laws who just arrived" She explained while rolling her eyes and I froze.

"What did you say?"

"You heared me. Get ready, they are waiting"

She handed me the clothes.

"I'm not going to dance for them in these ridiculous clothes!" I slapped her hand away.

I was so angry at all of them. How dare they to continue humiliating me after everything?!

"Do you think we want that? Do you think I like to pleasure a man for a few minutes, then for him to leave me when he feels satisfied?" She asked me and my eyes softened she sat next to me on the bed and I silently glanced at her.

"Sometimes life pulls you into a road without a single escape. I also had dreams but I have to survive, survive for my family, for my sick mother.." she quickly wiped her tear away and quickly put her serious expression back on and looked at me. My eyes saddened at the realization of how life sometimes changes people in such a drastic way in order to survive.

"The King actually never wanted any of us to dance for him. Even the clothes he has sent you are nothing a courtesan would wear. So many Girls outside of this room are jealous of you because this could be their way to freedom. You are the first one he is calling so put these beautiful clothes on and do what the King demands you to do. He must be impatiently waiting"

She picked up the clothes and handed them to me. I glanced at her and she suddenly smiled warmly at me while nodding at the clothes.

With shaking hands I took the clothes from her and unfolded it while she closed the door and left.

I gasped when I held the dress in front of me, it was long enough to cover my whole body. Even my arms would be covered. I was confused, this golden dress was beautiful. Way more beautiful than any gown I have ever seen.

What are you up to King?

                                            ~

After changing and opening my braided her and letting my soft waves fall down my body I walked to the door where Namjoon was waiting for me. While going I searched in between all the girls who were staring at me for the woman who just talked to me and when I found her in a corner with a new born baby my heart dropped.

I waved at her and she and her baby waved back at me while she gave my attire a satisfied now. I took a deep breath and walked over to Namjoon who would walk me to the hall where everyone was waiting.

While walking back to the castle I was a nervous wrack and Sebastian not saying anything wasn't helping me at all.

At the question "Will you talk if I slap you?" He just gave me a little smile and I couldn't help but shake my head and laugh in frustration.

When we arrived at the other side of the castle I breathed in the fresh air for a last time and gave myself a determined nod.

"Open the door!" Sebastian shouted at the guards.

The two young guards opened the heavy door for us and I was speechless at how beautiful the hall was architected. Mirrors were covering the hall and ceiling, reflecting the golden color of the hall and when I looked down at my dress I gasped, this dress was matching the design of the hall even to the littlest embroidery.

And when I lifted my head my eyes fell upon the person who was proudly sitting on his thrown while watching me walk in.

He was the same person who humiliated me and made me cry the whole night but when I met his eyes again for the third time my heart started racing. He was yet again pulling his magical spell on me by just looking at me in a way I have never seen someone to be looked at like that. Why are you looking at me like this after making me go through all of this?

I found Princess Ara on a lower step next to him looking worriedly at me. After all she was the one who helped me and made me her handmaid but she was the last person I would be mad at.

I suddenly even recognized the rude guy with grey hair and metal clothes who found me yesterday and made me get locked inside the basement, yeah it's the angry asshole. He was sitting next to the King's younger brother Jake.

And on the left side of the throne I glanced at unknown faces I haven't seen in this castle before but because they were sitting next to the King I would assume they were the in-laws.

I took a deep breath when the music slowly sounded and the instruments started playing.

With slow steps I started walking towards the middle of the hall.

                           FLASHBACK (2019)

"And 1,2,3,4" We were sweating while going through the last beats of the traditional dance we were rehearsing for the past two weeks.

"I'm so tired!" My friend whispered to me. I nodded breathlessness, signaling her that I was feeling the same.

In two days we had our first theatre performance.

My dream was always to become an actress.

To play different characters, dive in different worlds and be able to experience many different lives through different characters.

Last year I finally decided that my major should be acting and nothing else.

It was the first time the script was about a historical love story which also required traditional dances in the play And that's the reason why we all were a sweating mess in this dance class.

"Focus ladies!" Noah our dance teacher caught us through the mirror. My friend sighed and continued to follow his moves.

The performance was not only special because it was our first one but because my grandfather, the history lover himself would attend and watch me for the first time act on a stage and dance to traditional music.

I truly couldn't be happier because finally my dream was about to come true.

                      END OF FLASHBACK

As soon as the instruments sounded, I remembered my grandfather's teary eyes and smiling face which gave me enough courage to finish the dance

I followed the rhythm and the sound of the harp remembering my dance teachers moves grace.

I could feel King's eyes following every single move of mine. He didn't expect that, I could feel it by the way his eyes and everyone else's eyes were attached to my moves. For that few seconds this all felt like a dream, as if our historical play had came to life. What else could I wish for? And it was then when I remembered the words of the courtesan, sometimes in order to survive we have walk down this road of life.

But throughout the dance, no matter how much I tried I couldn't leave the King's eyes and neither did he leave mine. With every second the room got darker for me and all I could see was him on his throne watching me and me dancing for him and only for him.

The last sounds of the harp and violine sounded and with a last twirl I ended the dance.

Loud clapping sounds from one of the Wang family members could be heard followed by him standing up and clapping even louder. My breathing was heavy and my head was spinning around while looking at all of them. I was caught in a world between reality and a dream.

"King Charles I have to say I have expected something else but I enjoyed it more than I could imagine and I would love to see another dance of hers tomorrow or maybe the whole week since we are staying here for a few days."

He said this with such an enthusiasm that I wanted to walk over to him and slap him across the face in front of everyone.

The hall suddenly went quiet.

"That will not happen Prince Derek" The King's deep and husky voice filled the hall of mirrors and my heart in a beat.
