The Werewolf Part 2

Sophie felt confused and like she had just hit her stomach on a large rock. Her mind was racing a mile a minute, thoughts baffled and eyes unfocused.

She knew this wasn't the first time she had heard that voice when she slept at night, but it was the first time it ever said more than four words to her. And what did it mean by "find me."

"What the hell happened?"

Sophie turned her head from the ground and looked to her left where Pierce laid on the ground. She watched him bring himself up to a sit-up position and touch the back of his head with his hand, rubbing his neck. "I feel like I just got out of a boxing match that I lost," Pierce said, groaning quietly.

"Did we jump off a tree and land on the cave, or is that just how I feel?" Cam questioned, stretching his aching arms as he tried to stop the pain coming from his shoulders and the bursting headache he was having.

"I'm not completely sure what happened last night. Can anyone remember what happened after we got to the Lake?"  Data asked the others, looking over at them from his kneeling position.

Everyone shook their heads in reply, all too confused and in pain to think.

"I remember a rock. Were we playing hide and seek?" she questioned trying to think, but all that came was the words of the voice.

"I don't think so... Was Richard with us?" Pierce asked Cam, looking up at him as Cam helped Pierce up onto his feet.

"I can't remember him being here," Cam stated.

He walked to Sophie and took both her outstretched hands, pulling her up onto her feet.

"Did you take my camera out of the bag?" Sophie asked Cam, remembering him taking her bag.

"I did," he said and reached into his pockets, trying to find some kind of proof that they had taken a picture but he couldn't feel any photograph in his pockets. "Maybe not"

"We went to the beach. I have sand in my shoe," Pierce told them as he took off his running shoe and watched as some sand fell out of it.

"To the beach then."

Walking in a huddled group, Cam, Pierce, Data and Sophie all made their way to the lake.

The woods felt different to all of them. The birds weren't chirping, no squirrels were running past them or even up in the trees, and not even one sound of a woodpecker pecking in the distance could be heard.

Reaching the hill that led down to the beach, the four of them looked down, memories of laying on the ground here racing into their mind. It was like they were spectators - The four of them laid on the ground, looking down at the beach, watching something that was there. Then Pierce stood up and began to go down only for Cam to stand too and follow after him.

"Richard and his friends chased us. They were having a party on the beach. A big bonfire... But they ran away screaming for some reason while we hid behind a rock," Sophie said, remembering a bit of the night. "But how did we end up passing out at the cave?"

"If they had a bonfire on the beach, shouldn't there be a big pile of logs still there?" Data questioned, pointing down at the beach where the bonfire had been.

"Did they clean it up already?" Cam suggested it coming out more as a question.

"Why can't we remember?!" Pierce screamed, getting a little annoyed at not knowing what happened last night.

Sophie looked at Cameron, her face copying him with a perplexed expression.

"Did you steal some of your brother's weed?" Sophie asked him, wondering if that could be the reason for them forgetting what happened last night.

Cam thought it over but shook his head. "I don't think so. Maybe that's why he chased us," Cam responded.

Nothing was making any sense to the four of them. And what was perplexing them, even more, was why.

"We were out for a few hours. How do we forget a few hours?!" Pierce angrily says, looking at the others in outrage.

"Pierce, breathe. Getting angry isn't going to help," Cam told him as he watched Sophie and Data looking through each of their bags. "What are you two looking for?"

Sophie and Data didn't answer, only continued to search their bags. They whispered to each other as they pulled items out of the bags. Data pulled out his night vision goggles, using the memory card he had stored in it to see what heat signatures he had picked up.

"Us in the early night. Richard, Chuck and the others later at eleven-thirty. Did we get chased by a wolf?" He whispered to Sophie before his eyes widened.

Sophie and he looked at each other with stunned expressions, remembering what happened last night.

"We saw... Cam, where is that photograph?" Sophie shouts as she stands from her kneeling position on the ground and grips Cam's white shirt. She looked into his eyes with an untamed look, desperate to get her hands on that photograph.

"I told you I couldn't find it!" Cam said, confused about what she was talking about.

"Werewolf," she simply stated.

Pierce and Cam both froze, remembering the events of last night at that one word before they both began to scream.in excitement. "We found a werewolf!" they screamed in unison, smiling at each other.

"Cam. No proof without that photograph!" Sophie shouts in his face as she shakes his body back and forth, tightening her grip on his shirt.

Cam's face fell. His hands moved down to his pants, searching his pockets desperately then he moved to Sophie's bag, hoping to find the photograph inside along with the camera but both were missing.

"The cave. I dropped them at the-" Cam froze.

Sophie, Data and Pierce all looked ahead, hearing a loud growl coming from behind them as they remembered how they may have passed out last night.

"We entered..." Pierce murmured.

Together they all turned and gazed horrified at the yellow eyes watching them.

"Oh shit!"
