Chapter 1

I woke up in the darkness of the forest. Strange animals making noises in every direction. I've been wandering around for quite a while now, not knowing my direction.

On a cold rainy day, about a month ago a awoke in this area, not knowing anything, even my name is a mystery to me. Now a month later it seems to be getting warmer, so it gets easier to get around everywhere on foot.

I have found a village nearby, where I did a few jobs to get food and proper clothing, but I still have no idea why I am here and what I am supposed to do from here.

Everyone in the village seems strange, they even look at me funny, I get it, I'm an outsider, yet not a single person wanted to help me. So here I am in the middle of a huge forest, that looks more like woods to be fair, hiding away, trying to get by, and hopefully find a different village where people were much friendlier.

I jumped down from the tree branch that I was sleeping on, dragging my little bag of supplies with me. I had to hide up in the trees because of the wild animals that were roaming around at night, you definitely don't want to stay on the ground at night, I learned it the first day I was here.

With thoughts in my head I looked up at the sky, it was mostly covered by tall trees but I could see the sun was rising as it was casting a gorgeous orange color across the sky. I looked around me and took a deep breath.

'Well, another day another dollar.' I whispered to myself. Maybe today is my lucky day to find more people.

I swung the bag across my shoulder and started walking north.

The deeper I went the denser the forest got, colder too. I wrapped my hand around myself and stopped, maybe I'm walking in the wrong direction? I think I should turn around and head a different way, but something behind the bushes was calling me and so I went forward. I pushed away the branches that were slapping my face as I was walking past and soon saw a clearing. It took my breath away as I took in all the beauty of the flowers I have never seen before, a couple of bunnies were hopping around in the dewy grass, the sun shining on them. It looked mesmerizing.

As soon as I stepped into the clearing I regretted it, as the bunnies rushed away and I heard a deep ferocious growl, I slowly looked around me trying to pin the direction it came from, and froze in my tracks. There, just a couple of meters away, hiding in the bushes, was a wolf. A scary-looking one as well, I've never seen a beast the size of this one, he looked supernatural, fur black as night, eyes glowing red, canines long and sharp, mouth dripping...blood. I couldn't move I was that scared and I knew my chances of running away were very low. What am I gonna do?

The beast didn't let me out of his sight and I was getting more and more terrified as each second passed, I couldn't breathe. Should I just make a run for it? Would that be a surprise enough to gain a few seconds on it?

I didn't have time to react as my body moved on its own accord and soon I was sprinting across the clearing towards the trees where I could see a track that someone made. I didn't look back, I didn't dare to. My heart was beating wild I thought it was gonna jump out of my chest, but I didn't stop I kept running as fast as I could.

But it wasn't enough, as soon as I run up to the tracks, the beast clawed my leg and I fell, pain rushing through my body like a bullet.

'Oh shit, I was done, he's gonna eat me alive for a snack.' I thought to myself trying to rush back to my feet. Adrenaline was pumping through my body and a second later I didn't even feel the pain in my leg as I got to my feet and ran, but it didn't last long as I felt him claw me again, my back this time. The pain was so extreme I let out a scream, the forest going silent, waiting for my death. I fell forward and this time it was hard getting back up, but as soon as I tried the wolf clawed me again, and again. It was excruciating, the last breath left my lips and everything went dark.

They say that when you died you could see flashes of your life before, images of the things you love the most, people you left behind to mourn you, but I didn't have such things. I didn't know who I was or where I was or who my family was. But I had strange flashes from my memory, blood.

I awoke with air coming back to my lungs, I was still alive, but barely moving. I was shocked, to say the least, why didn't he finish me off? Did I taste bad or something? Whatever reason may be but I was happy, my back was screaming at me though, no adrenaline to help me this time.

I didn't know long I was out, but the forest seemed to be darker than before, I'd say a couple of hours then. This early in the spring the sun sets still early. I took a deep breath and tried to get up but to no avail. The pain was too much for me to move. And so I stayed on the ground a couple more minutes to get my courage up. I had to do this! I want to live.

'Come on, Meg, you can do this.' I said to myself and with all the strength I had in me I lifted myself off the ground.

'Well, that was a task.' I chuckled. I think I'm going crazy, definitely.'Now, Meg, we need to keep going.' I sigh, Meg was the name I used in the village so the people knew how to call me. I really needed to find help, now more than ever. God knows how my back looks, I need to get medical attention.

And so with that thought, I moved, each step more painful than another. I could feel the blood dripping down my whole body, but I couldn't stop, I needed help.

I was walking around with no direction for a long time, it was dark now and my vision bad from not having a light is worse now that the pain was blinding me, I couldn't even see my feet. I could feel myself getting weaker and weaker, worse I was getting sleepy. And I knew if I sit to rest I will never wake back up again. And so I walked some more.

After God knows how long I saw a light, it was a tiny one, but I knew it was a light, what else would it be so deep in the woods? I crept towards it, barely able to move. I lifted my head and saw a man standing in front of me, his eyes glaring angrily. What the hell? How did I not hear him coming toward me? He was saying something, but I couldn't hear it either. Before I knew it my body gave out on me and I fell to my knees. The world going black again.
