First Step In Being Independent

"What was that, I can't seem to remember who she is going to call," I said to myself after suddenly waking up in the middle of the night. After waking up I walked out the door to fetch some water, and there I saw Augustine in the kitchen eating alone. As I walk towards him, I heard him crying from afar.

And then I walked towards him and asked, "Augustine, Are you okay, why are you crying?"

"Nah, It's nothing Bro, Don't mind me," He said to me in reply.

"I can feel the sadness that he is facing but maybe he doesn't want me to overthink because I have a lot in my mind lately. None of that matters now. I need to comfort my friend who treated me like an actual family," I thought to myself while looking at him while he is trying to deceive me with a fake smile.

"Don't hide it, Augustine, You knew what happened to me when I tried to conceal my feelings. My heart was scarred and here I am on the verge of losing myself. But here you are supporting me and treated me like a brother. Let me do the same thing to you. Not as a friend, but as a family," I said to him with a faint tear flowing down through my eyes.

(He cried buckets and told the story behind his tears)

"I can't decide whether I should follow the decision of my family. They want me to be someone else when here I am trying to be somebody else," He said to me while crying.

I answered him, "You already know the answer to your problems, Augustine, follow your dream and try to let them understand your decisions in life. You know the situation between me and my family right. You have your own life to decide and I think your parents will support you if you just be honest with them. Let us be strong, Augustine, We can do it."

After he stopped crying we, then go back to our room and slept. While I enter my room that Augustine lent me. I thought of the things I told him. "Can I put it to use all this advice I gave to him, but I might as well try to be strong, cause I know that even if I'll be honest with my family. They will still abhor me." And then I fell asleep.

(A faint scene of the girl in my dreams has appeared in my sleep)

"Why are you crying?" The girl said in my dreams.

"Do you know that forcing your smile can make good vibes win over bad vibes, don't cry, and just force your happiness? I'm sure you can also be happy. I'll help you overcome your problems," The girl added as she continues to chat with the boy.

"Who are you really?" The boy in my dreams asked the girl.

" My name is Sh---," I suddenly woke up cause it's time for me to prepare for school. She was supposed to tell her name, but I didn't have much time to listen to it. As I take my shower in the bathroom, I was thinking about her name. I thought of many names for that girl, but I think it won't suit her taste and looks.

After I dressed up, I head downstairs and prepare me and Augustine breakfast. As we ate the breakfast that I prepared we then head towards the school. On our way to the school, I told Augustine that I will be late.

He then asked, "Why, where are you going?"

"I'll look for a job to support myself in attending school, and also I'll find a cheap apartment for me to stay," I answered him.

"Don't worry about the place you'll be staying. Just live in my house. I don't have anyone and only me is living in that big of a house," He insisted on letting me stay at his house.

I then replied, "Okay fine, you win, I'll just find myself a job then live in your house. Thank You for letting me stay, bro."

"Don't worry about it. Just let me handle the place for you to stay, " He said to me.

"Haha, let's just hurry to school or we'll be late," I said to him in reply.

As we arrived in front of the school, some fliers were being handed out to the students that invite a student for a job as a video transcriber. Inside the school, I thought of the offer. It has big pay that can support me throughout my studies. As I was thinking about the offer Augustine suddenly sneaked behind my back. I then asked him about the offer.

"Augustine, what do you think should I try this? It can support my entire life in studying too." I said to him.

"Go for it, it's not a poor offer. Want me to accompany you there?" He replied to me.

"Nah, no worries, I can handle it, just head home and rest," I answered him.

After school ended, I rushed into the place of the recruiter. Before I even enter I heard the employers talking about how they will scam all the applicants. It made me furious, but I just let it slide and set off to find another opportunity. After walking for almost half an hour and traveled to many places. I then arrived at a convenience store looking for a part-timer. I thought to myself that I was very lucky to even find this job.

The owner interviewed me and asked me about many things. From personal life to experiences. I then answered and told her the story about my complicated family. The owner accepted me and told me the time of my shift. I know that the owner might feel so pitiful towards me because of the story I told the owner.

Before I head home, I stopped by the mall and bought a small gift of appreciation to give Augustine. In the mall, I saw my half-brothers.

I then hid from them not because it scared me, but I don't want to create a commotion inside. After I successfully left, I then head back home. In my walk, I heard voices behind my back and I thought of them as the voices of my half-brothers. So before I ran, I tried to find a space for me to beat them up. After I found a place, I then ran and hid.

After they noticed that I disappeared, they went looking for me. I was about to attack them, but the sight of the girl in my dreams suddenly appeared in my mind. One of my half- brothers saw where I was hiding and attacked me. Thankfully, it was not hurtful. After I recovered from his attack. I threw a punch in his face, then ran towards the house.

After I lost them in my run, they will naturally find me in this neighborhood. And seek revenge on the broken face he had because of my punches. When I entered the house, I saw Augustine across the living room watching television. So I told him about the good news that I received that I got a job in a convenience store. After our little chitchat, I prepared dinner for us to eat.

(As I was cooking, I suddenly saw a vision of the girl in my dreams)

"Why did you have to appear in that crucial moment, Who are you really?" The question that circulates in my head.

After we ate dinner, I then head towards my room to take a shower as I finish. I then proceed to my bed and was getting ready to sleep. As I close my eyes. I then heard a faint pronunciation of my name in my head. I asked Augustine if he called for me, but he said he didn't.

(It confused me, So I just headed back to my bed and slept)

I heard the faint voice of a man in my dreams. He called the girl that appeared in my dreams by her name. But I wasn't able to hear it at all. But the voice seemed familiar. I then suddenly woke up again. While I was trying to fall asleep again. But this time I can't seem to fall asleep again so I headed down the stairs then walked towards the kitchen to fetch some water.

After drinking, I went out for some fresh air and went for a brief walk to make myself tired. After my walk, I then head back to my room had a fast shower. I head back and to my surprise; I slept just after I closed my eyes. I was expecting to see her again in my dream. But this time she doesn't show up, so I slept without her in my dreams, which left me with sadness.
