Chapter 86

Dr. Henry came to the Alpha's as soon as he had received the summon. He had to check on Luna, who had awoken from the coma. Dawson led Dr. Henry into a different room, and looking at how it was dark: he could only conclude that it was the Alpha's.

Alex was still unbelieving that her big eyes were looking at him, evidence that is full of life after lying in one place for over a month. "I missed you, princess" he caressed the back of her palm with his thumb making Malia smile.

"How is my favorite patient doing?" Dr. Henry asked as soon as he came closer to where she was.

Malia turned her head at the sound of Dr. Henry's voice and smiled at him "Hi, Dr. Henry" she called out softly

"Greeting, Mr. Ford," to which Alex gave a curt nod "I can see that you are doing fine, Malia. How do you feel? Any pain anywhere?"

Alex turned to look at her more intently as if not to miss anything or sign of pain while doctor Henry took out his medical equipment from the briefcase he came carrying. Using a stethoscope, he checked her heart rate to check if she was breathing normally seeing that she had woken up before a week.

"Your heart rate seems fine," he said after checking it severally to ascertain the result. Malia smiled at that, and Alex breathed a sigh of relief.

"Now I will check your blood pressure, and every other thing" With that, he picked out the sphygmomanometer and a small doctor's torch. Both Alex and Malia were patiently for him to finish with the hope that it was good news at the end of all that.

Much to their relief, everything was fine on her body, and the twins were fine according to the scan. "You are now two months down, Malia, but you are still in your first trimester. You know what that means right?" Dr. Henry, he asked hopefully

"It means that you, my dear are to be careful because this stage is quite sensitive. Any rigorous activities could be dangerous to both you and the babies" Dr. Henry explained softly

"What do you mean by dangerous, doctor?" Malia was already scared and it would take a genius to see a certain someone besides her with the same worry.

"There are higher chances of miscarriage, and depending on how it happens, it could harm you in the process" When he was the look the two were giving them, he decided to be more elaborate. "Sometimes if the miscarriage happens due to a serious fall or something with much more force, it could lead to loss of the fetus, which is for the lucky women. The unlucky one could lose both the fetus and their womb, or better yet weak their womb. Making unable to carry more children."

The entire explanation scared Malia to a point where fear gripped her, she had to rub her belly protectively. She bore losing her two angels or better yet her womb. Having lived a lonely life all these years, Malia always dreamed of having more than one child; maybe three or four.

Alex saw her lost in thought and knew where her mind had gone "hey, princess. Nothing of the sort will be happening to you, ok?" Alex tried calming her but shot Dr. Henry a glare as if to question why he would tell her something like that.

Dr. Henry on the other hand was wondering what he had done "Miss Thatcher, I didn't tell you that to scare you, but to remind you to be careful" She nodded in understanding and smiled a little to lessen the tensed mood in the room not forgetting a certain someone who still looked angry, so she smiled at Dr. Henry.

"I don't need to do any more body checks seeing that everything looks fine including the twins. I will come by three weeks from now to check on her and also do a scan. By then, you would be approaching the second trimester."

Alex nodded in understanding, shook the doctor's hand, and said thank you "Dawson will show you out. Thank you once again."

With that, Dr. Henry wished the two a goodnight and left with Dawson carrying his briefcase. He was happy that Malia had woken up without any complications. Now he could concentrate on other pressing matters without worrying about the Alpha's anger as regards her safety.

"Can I see Amber?"

"Maybe, but not today seeing that it's already coming to 11:00 pm. Now go to sleep." Alex said while tacking her in

"What about you? I believe that this is your bed."

"I still have some work to do in the study" He stood, kissed her forehead, and turned off the light before closing the door behind him.

Malia had no sleep, but believing that she had worried him enough, she decided to shut her eyes to catch sleep somewhere along. Thanks to the many thoughts that were bugging her mind, she drifted off to sleep in the process.

Inside the study, Alex held Chris' letter and stared at nothing in particular. He was deep in thought as he wore a painful expression. Whatever was going on in his mind was eating him up as he was pressing his phone and scrolling, and just like that, his finger stopped on Chris' number.
