World: ??? - gathering information

Okay, first off, I need to figure out if this is the modern era, so first off,…New York.

I instantly shifted over to my intended destination, only to block off the sunshine that appeared over me, thankfully it wasn't much as I was in a random alley way.

…actually thank goodness it put me here and not in the middle of the street, getting myself oriented of the walls, I walked out…and immediately made several conclusions.

I am indeed on earth, or at least a version of earth,…and it's animated, I mean really animated as if everything was drawn and animated by hand to impossible and ungodly degree, I didn't realize this at first in the dark at first, and the actual walking drawings looking VERY realistic.

Another conclusion, while this was close to modern era, at least in terms of looks at the buildings…it was at least a century away, there was no cars either.

It was obvious to me, or at least to my point of view, that it was an anime, or a cartoon that had a lot of anime features typically used.

…which means the "plot" was centered around in Japan, in theory anyway, that was my best guess, though it wouldn't be downright impossible for anywhere else, I can definitely think of anime where that wasn't the case, jojo and hellsing ultimate just being two examples I can think of on the top of his head.

The Japanese language is going to be important, and I wasn't exactly intelligent enough nor that motivated to learn it in the matter of weeks.

Which meant he was going to have to find someone who can trade them to me their language…kinda glad I had the Broker essence and not the merchant, while it certainly had its advantages in literally being able to trade with the world to get secrets and shit,…it had to be what was seen as equal.

Hell, you can literally cast any spell as long as you trade the right amount of mana for the spell to work.

While broker is more limited being able to only be used on other entities, it did not have to be equal, as long as the target agrees he gets the stuff and whatever he offered or they asked.

Which meant he was going to either find a scholarly type that knew it, and either offer something important or literally scam it off of him.

In fact…

I dug into my pockets and pulled out my wallet, didn't have much since I mostly leave my money in the bank, but I had several 20 bucks on me.

…now to actually have someone give it up…could I literally just act drunkenly and walk up to someone that knows the language,…and say in exchange for giving me the language they get 20 bucks?

They will more than likely believe I had too much to drink and give it up, the literal only problem would be if the person would just ignore me or they would have too good of a character at heart to take "advantage of me".

But still, this was a century back…wasn't 20 bucks around a hundred back then? Wait, do 20 bucks even look the same back then?

Shit, the money is worthless isn't? He knew for a fact that dollar bills have changed over the years, though he wasn't aware of which ones if any were left unchanged.

Right, he was gonna have to find something else to trade, something valuable that a scumbug would get greedy.

…I'll think of something, or see something, I still need to find someone with the language anyway before I can do anything about all of this.

It might seem strange that I was trying to get back to japan with potential danger…but I kinda actually want to meet all sorts of characters in other worlds, and I definitely didn't want to stick around in what looked like the Great Depression is coming over to.

It also didn't help that his clothes WILL catch eyes, it was simply too modern and ahead of its time, I will look very out of place.

I walked out to the closest person near me and quickly asked knowing that people in the city aren't very patient enough to answer questions for strangers, "hey, you wouldn't happen to know where the library is would ya?"

The guy annoyed that I stepped in front of me gave me a stink eye, walked around me and said, "three blocks away, with brick red walls, called Golden Birch, can't miss it" with an accent I didn't recognize, as the man walked away.

Following the instruction I got on the other side of the road and headed over to the direction the guy mentioned.

This was the easy part though, two steps ahead of me will rely on luck.
