The Girl Named Fervis

"Mimi run! That is the B-Rank magic beast, Syrinix!"

Just as I heard Luna shout, a massive fireball flew by my head and hit the beast, causing it to wail out in anger.

The rustling of a nearby tree whistled in my ear and I saw a short, brown-skinned girl with two horns on her head, which curved at an angle. The girl's eyes were red, and it matched her long and straight silver hair. Her clothes were even weirder than Luna's, as the armor she was wearing left her stomach and legs very much exposed. 'There seems to be so much indecency in this world…'

While I was dismayed by her clothing, her slender frame did not give away a sign of weakness. Just from the way she walked over to my location, I could tell she was strong.

"What are you just standing over there for?! Run away before you get hurt!" She barked as the Syrinix rose from the embers that had torched it. The beast had definitely taken damage from the girl's attack, but it was by no means enough to end the Beast's life.

"I'm so sorry miss, Mimi is not feeling well, so she was unaware of the danger." Luna tried to apologize to the girl, and she took my hand and tried to lead me away from the battle, but I didn't move.

"Mimi, hurry before that beast chases us!" Luna exclaimed in a panic as she tried to drag me away from the beast, but I still didn't move.

"Elder Luna, a Samurai never runs away amid a battle."

-

I screwed up. 'I can't believe I led a Syrinix into a forest populated by people!'

As I chased the beast, I knew if I didn't kill it quickly, someone would end up getting killed, but I also couldn't use any of my most powerful magic without possibly lighting this forest up in flames. Once I reached a clearing, I noticed there was a young blue-haired girl who stood and watched the Syrinix as it marched towards her.

'Does she have a death wish?!' I released my magic and sent it flying toward the beast and as the fireball briefly passed by the girl's head, she still didn't move from that same spot, but it was different. When I looked into her eyes, they were clear and not clouded by fear or uncertainty. She was planning on fighting that beast.

"What are you standing there for?! Run away before you get hurt!" I shouted an order at her to dissuade her from engaging the beast, but it seemed to have no effect.

The older white-haired woman accompanying the girl pleaded with her to run away from the beast, but the blue-haired girl still didn't waver and stood her ground amidst the powerful roar that erupted from the beast.

'Just who is she?'

-

I shifted my head to the brown-skinned girl, and I felt a smirk creep up my lips as I spoke. The Syrinix looked to have completely recovered from the fireball that she had used now. 'So that is what Mythica looks like… what an exciting power to explore.'

"Little girl, if I slay this beast for you, will you show me more of those cool flames?" I asked her as I placed my palm on the handle of my Katana.

"Mimi! You can't fight a B-Rank magic beast!" Luna cried and tried to reason with me, but I remained unwavering.

'Luna is a good person. I guess I should repay her for all the information she has given me.'

"Mimi is your name then, well then Mimi, run as far as possible. That beast can shoot rays of light out of its horns and if you take a hit from it you're done for." The silver-haired girl tried to explain to me the danger of the beast, but I couldn't help but smirk. 'Such a strong magic beast on my first day in this world? How exciting!'

While the two of them had tried to convince me to run away, I had made up my mind already. "2 Seconds." I said slightly above a whisper, which caught the attention of both Luna and the young girl. I began walking in the direction of the beast, to the dismay of Luna.

"Mimi stop!" She shrieked, but the young girl stopped Luna from following me and just observed me.

The Syrinix noticed my slow approach and shot a beam of light out of its horns just as the young girl had mentioned, but there was one extreme problem. 'How slow.'

I pulled Una from its sheath, and I made a vertical slash with Una in a crescent moon-like motion. The slash cut the beam of light in half, and the impact of the slash severed the beast in two pieces instantly. Both sides of the beast slid apart and fell with a thud that echoed throughout the forest multiple times.

As blood sprayed across my face and clothes, I licked a droplet of blood that landed on my lip. The blood seemed to be imbued with some kind of energy that made my body tingle. 'That must be pure Mythica.'

I placed Una back into its sheath and sighed a breath of boredom. Since they had both expressed how dangerous the beast was, I made sure not to hold back, but…

"Is every magic beast supposed to be that weak?"

"Did you just defeat a B-Rank magic beast with one move?" The young girl stared at me in shock as she spoke softly with a voice that was plastered with astonishment.

It seemed like Luna had already fainted in shock at the events, so I focused my conversation on the silver-haired lass.

"So, what is your name?" I asked as I extended my hand plastered with blood to her.

"Fervis."
