Kyle (1/3), CH 29

The school tour was over and the angels spent the rest of the evening back in their sleeping quarters. They had a fun game of start-stop by the fireplace before suddenly changing the topic to magic.

They found this as the most fun activity currently since magic was so mysterious to normal angels like them. Kyle was curious about the history of magic in this world while Alicia wanted to know its domestic uses and Hannah was just curious overall. They couldn't wait to start classes the next day since it meant they would learn even more.

Sherman explained quite a lot about the academy, and Hannah had written notes in one of the notebook's empty pages.

She tore the page, and it was now on the coffee table in the centre of the three. Kyle was interested in 4 subjects and Alicia wanted to do 5 of them. Hannah also wanted to do the same 5 as her sister.

The listed subjects that the academy offered were;

1. Transmutation

2. Combat orientation classes

3. Alchemy

4. Contemporary history

5. Chemical research

6. Enchantry

7. Business studies

8. geography

9. shinobi arts/ mancer magic

There were more classes offered, but those are purposely tailored for individuals who wished to major in at least one specific class. There were also clubs that provided additional services, but those had certain requirements to join.

Kyle was interested in Enchantry, Chemical research, Alchemy and the combat orientation classes. Of course, he would have to take all the classes regardless, but when he became a second-year he would have the choice to decide which classes he wanted to major in. He got up from his comfortable spot on the sofa and headed o the bookshelves to pick out certain books for his own leisure.

Hannah and Alicia watched him go and decided to sleep early. They didn't really have anything to do till the next day arrived, so it was fair that they headed to sleep instead.

Kyle was busy reading a novel by the dining table and was snacking on a few grapes. He was extremely comfortable when Dyrnwyn spoke for the first time in a day.

{wow...}

{Is something wrong, sir Ryderrch?}

{Well, I've been feeling odd ever since I woke up. I can't quite place what it is, and a very strange voice has been in my head for a while.}

{There's a voice in your head? Are you really sure, sir Ryderrch?}

{Sigh... you don't need to mention it anymore. I'm going back to sleep.}

And just like that the sword Dyrnwyn went silent just as it had been less than a minute ago. Kyle took no offence and returned to his grapes and novel. He was having a good read for a few minutes before he heard a knock at the room's door. He silently looked at the door as it shook under the knocks of whoever was on the other side.

Kyle made no move to get up as he felt a very disturbing aura from the other side. He just sat while putting a few grapes into his mouth. But soon the knocking became more violent, and Alicia complained to Kyle that he should have opened the door already.

Kyle sighed to himself and got up from his seat to approach the door and see who was on the other side. As he opened it, he could see nothing but a dark corridor and when the door was completely opened he could see nothing else but the dark corridor.

He stepped into the corridor and looked to either side to see if he could spot who knocked at the door. But there was nobody, and he grumbled as he turned to return to the room.

But he was now facing a wall that showed no signs of a door ever being present. He placed his hand onto the wall in disbelief and temporarily forgot about the corridor that was now expanding. The darkness was now surrounding Kyle and when he turned around; he faced it and fell to his knees in fear.

Even the wall he had just touched disintegrated behind him silently. He was alone in this endless void and felt the urge to escape suddenly rise in him once more. The last time this happened he couldn't really explain why he thought he was permanently stuck there, but the same feeling was now with him.

He got himself up and sprinted in a random direction

{What's wrong with me...}

He knew that he was overreacting, but he didn't stop his running. He wanted to escape whatever this place was as soon as he could. But then, while he was still running, he felt the soles of his shoes become wet. He quickly looked downwards and could see ripples spreading across the dark floor of the void. He couldn't explain what it felt like, but the wetness in his shoes significantly lowered his speed.

He still tried to run, he even tried releasing his wings, but something was preventing them from emerging. He continued running though and never felt exhaustion.

But a voice emerged from the darkness in his escape. It was a heavy female voice that spread ripples across the dark floor.

[Why am I running from myself... am I really that frightening?]

Kyle stopped his running and randomly looked in every direction to find the source of the voice. He felt his fear rise when he heard it. He was shivering non-stop now. The assailant showed nothing that could help Kyle in locating her, and so Kyle shouted in anger.

"WHO ARE YOU? WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME!"

[Calm down me... I was only wondering why you're running away.]

"... who are you!"

[I'm you... or a better explanation would be that I'm an alternate version of you.]

"What..."

[I'm someone who was just passing by... you seem to not have experienced the cleansing in this timeline yet...]

"Cleansing?"

[Yes, when chaos destroys all matter, space and time would be known as the cleansing. My world was a victim of it and so was my timeline that hasn't appeared yet apparently.]

"What are you talking about!?"

[Why... I'm talking of the end of all things, of course.]

***********

(10 hours later)

Kyle was now standing before the room door. Complete despair clear within his eyes. He had seen a complete disaster unfold before him while he was within that void. His alternate had shown him a timeline that should have happened but hadn't yet. He entered the room and dragged himself to his bed and went to sleep immediately.

He hadn't slept for long before he felt someone shake him till he opened his eyes. Hair completely obscured his vision as it was hanging close to his face. The hair parted to reveal Alicia's smiling face as she helped him out of bed.

"We start classes today! are you ready to go meet our classmates?"

"Oh, sure..."

Hannah eyed him before heading to the wardrobe to pick out their uniforms. She handed everybody their uniforms, and they all dressed up before heading for the corridor and to the statue before they found themselves in the academy courtyard. Alicia was extremely excited as she led the group to the classes building to the east of the courtyard. They passed the cafeteria on the way and several other students who were growing flowers in the academy's park. There were a few older students out on a jog who waved as they passed the angels. Kyle watched them before continuing to walk silently.

They soon arrived at the classes building that was split into three different wings and was 9 stories tall. The entrance was being watched by two students who had badges reading 'Disciplina' on their sleeves. As the angels passed, these students eyed them before returning to their own business.

The building was just as expected with several students milling about and heading to their respective classes. The lockers were right at the entrance and only a few students were placing their items into them. The angels copied their behaviour and placed the notebook into a single locker that automatically locked itself. Hannah was sure that they could get the notebook back later, and so they headed to the east wing where Sherman had told them where their class was.

They passed other students carrying around their books and talking in loud, excited voices. They entered the east wing of the building and climbed to the second floor where they found their class the third one from the stairs.

[Class 1-AR]

The doors to the classroom stood intimidatingly before Alicia, but Kyle couldn't waste any time. So he pushed the doors open and walked inside to meet the curious looks of 67 other students. It was less of a classroom and more of an auditorium with rows of benches ascending and several students of unique races staring back at him.

Behind him were two large blackboards that were currently being cleaned by a female student.

"Who's this brat?"

Kyle looked up towards the farthest row where a gigantic person was placing his feet on the long table before him. The person was a Dragonkin as small puffs of smoke were escaping from the gaps of his teeth, he displayed a grand smile. His voice was deep and authoritative as he rose from his comfortable seating position.

Kyle glared at the Dragonkin as he was currently not in the mood for nonsense. The Dragonkin didn't show any extra reaction to Kyle's glare and walked down to the podium Kyle was standing on.

When he stood before Kyle, he looked down on Kyle's hair.

"What's your name?"

"My name is Kyle."

"Oh! splendid name... I'm Deloris, and how would you like to be best friends?"

"I already have friends I am in no need for another, but thanks for the offer."

Kyle bowed his head slightly and tried to walk past Deloris, who placed his large burly arm in his path. Kyle's eyes flashed a dull gold and met Deloris' gaze. Deloris still had that grand smile of his, but the smoke escaping from his mouth turned from a pure white to a tinted grey.

Deloris had flaming red hair that flowed past his shoulders and partly covered his ears. His crimson red eyes were growing darker by the second, but that smile stayed the same. Kyle was well aware of what Deloris was attempting, and he didn't like it one bit.

"I don't think you understand... I'm only trying to become friends."

"Hm... your offer is quite good, but I'm quite fine as I am thank you."

Kyle placed his hand on Deloris' wrist and effortlessly moved it upwards and out of the way. Deloris didn't stop him and just let him pass.

Hannah and Alicia looked at each other in confusion but shrugged it off and followed Kyle to the fifth row.

Nanette watched as Kyle and his friends approached her row and looked to the empty spaces right next to her.

"Ah, crap..."
