"How are you?"
Amaris glanced at Heathcliff, who was trying to start a conversation with her. She knew he was trying to be friendly. Heathcliff even wanted to get engaged to her, but for some reason, she didn't know why.
"I'm not in a good mood," she sighed sadly.
So Amaris decided to keep up with him to see what he was planning.
"Were you and Felix close?" he asked and Amaris almost rolled her eyes. She had just said that they had known each other since they were children. But she helped his efforts to keep the conversation going.
"We've known each other since we were childhood. He was a good friend. It's so sad that he died like this," she said as a tear fell from her eye.
"Don't cry, please," Heathcliff said, reaching out his hand to wipe away the single drop, and Amaris could hardly keep from frowning.
