"The Limits of Spiritism LV3 and the Possibilities of Bone Spur Magic"

"Did Spiritism LV3 reach the limit of what the body can withstand?" Alex murmured in his heart and could not help but feel a little disappointed. He originally planned to train [Spirituality] to [LV10] in one breath, but now it seems too naive. As for the other magic that he got from Dr. Fauci - [Bone Spur Technique], he did not spend much energy and time except learning it at the beginning.

Because he cannot sense the void psionic energy or the undead realm through magic, he can only communicate with his own cemetery. [Spirituality] summons undead creatures, and [Bone Spurs] summons bone spurs.

   But there are not a lot of bones in the cemetery to form bone spurs, so for Alex, even if he can learn it, he cannot use it for the time being.

Alex had originally intended to focus on spirituality and abandoned the notion of Bone Spur magic, yet when he practiced LV3, his body reached its maximum potential. This resulted in him looking into bone spurs again as a means of furthering his magical abilities. He recognised that by accessing the cemetery, his communication with it was easier than other necromancers.

Thus, he concluded that it would be beneficial to obtain either a bone spur or an iron spine and steel spine along with even stronger powers in order to see if it had any effect on his undeath magic realm. Consequently, Alex was willing to put this idea into practice despite the fact that necromancers typically do not need or use these kinds of power sources.

Alex was desperate to give it a go, but he could not find any steel or iron thorns, so in the cemetery he experimented with bricks and stones instead. The results were satisfactory. In a nearby park, he spotted an undeveloped area and began to cast his spell.

A loud bang occurred and within five or six meters of Alex, more than ten white stone thorns of different sizes erupted from the ground across an area of near four to five square meters. The thorns pierced quickly and sharply, appearing without warning - if anyone had happened to be in the vicinity then they would surely have been skewered like candied haws!

Alex looked over the results of the test and was elated with the capacity of this modified [Bone Spur Technique]. However, he noticed that the magical affinity of rocks is weaker than expected. While it made it easier to establish a connection with the cemetery, casting spells using rocks took more time as opposed to using bones, giving enemies an extra chance to dodge.

This was an issue since Alex wanted a faster casting speed. "What good is having powerful magic when I can't hit my targets?" he thought while considering on reverting back to bones; but seeing how difficult and exhaustive collecting them would be weighed against his decision. Settling for second best, he decided to go ahead with employing rocks for his spells, although majorly so for practical purposes only as he continued practicing hoping for improvements in his level of magic eventually.

   is also a chain of magic, [Bone Spur Technique] consumes more mana than Spiritualism. With Alex's current mana, he can only use it six or seven times in a row, which makes it more difficult for him to upgrade the [Bone Spur Technique] level. Moreover, this magic cannot be used indoors.

If the magic power is exhausted, if you want to enter the cemetery to speed up the return to the magic, you have to return to the residence. Alex does not dare to enter the cemetery outside without any defence. This made the practice of [Bone Spur Technique] relatively slow, and it took two full days to reach [LV2]. Fortunately, the power was not increased by one level, but the casting speed increased a lot, which made this magic have a certain practical ability.

  For the past few days, Alex had been practicing magic ignoring any outside noise, however Azora City was in panic due to a massacre at the Baron Albert's house. It was reported that the tragedy began with Baron Albert demise, which took place on the same day Alex returned. Furthermore, another relative of his who was vying for ownership of family property died in a guest room located on the second floor of Barons house.

The scene reportedly being extremely bloody with body parts scattered around. Moreover, several servants were killed one after another and a young widow luckily dodged death as she quickly ran to police station for help. On top of this, three elf slaves bought by Baron Albert have disappeared as well. As he heard this news from Alvis while holding up a newspaper in shock, it appeared Alex could not believe what he was reading.

Alex had always assumed that the mysterious individual who murdered Baron Albert and the adventurer was there to rescue the three female elves, but now a perplexing situation has occurred: they had vanished. Given what he saw at the scene of the incident, he began to consider if this strange person was not trying to save them but rather had other intentions.

Deep in thought, Alex remembered back when he arrived at Baron Albert's house — and realized he did not observe any of the three elf female slaves. He could not fathom what happened.

Alvis then said sombrely, "Brother, this matter has become convoluted. According to reliable sources, when those three elves disappeared an investigator from a government agency was right next door! But even so, these guys from that special bureau were unable to find anything."

  Alex gave a nonchalant nod. He was aware of the possibility that this strange creature could become invisible. The three strangers from the special organization had just arrived, their attitudes being overbearing and haughty; it would be normal for them to be taken by surprise if they were careless. It seemed to Alex that this odd and vicious murder might be linked to his taking of the wind blade bracelet, with the aberrant individual losing its prized possession in an act of rage.

This presented a sense of danger for Alex. It was clear that this peculiar figure must have been extremely cruel, which did not coincide with what he had originally thought - someone merely looking to save three female elves. Although now deprived of its wind blade bracelet, there was no ensuring that it would not succeed in tracking it down again - if they were pitted against each other in their current states, he feared his fate would end up being far more unfortunate than fortunate.

  Alex had an idea that it was necessary to fortify some abilities rapidly, yet he kept his composure. At once, Alvis shifted the discussion and queried about the magical training Alex asked for from Doctor Fauci a short time ago. "It's going quite well, I already grasped it," he uttered with a grin and spoke out some unfamiliar words with a wave of his hand. Subsequently, a twirling magical circle came into view on the floor in Alvis's study and then out of it clambered an immense skeleton soldier.

Alvis was amazed when Alex summoned his skeleton soldiers which were notably tall and powerful, with great gear and an Alex soul fire flashing in them. This seemed to give others a feeling of intimidation. "This...this is your skeleton soldier!" he exclaimed with enthusiasm. Alex avoided mentioning anything about the cemetery, simply saying that his luck had been good and that he got some skilled ones after using [Spirituality], making contracts directly.

Alvis, who was impressed by this feat of learning spiritism in two or three days without any help, raised his opinion even higher of him before they parted ways with twenty gold pounds in tow.

  He had come to Alvis this time in order to acquire a loan; he was already qualified for registration due to his newly acquired knowledge of [Spirituality] and [Bone Spurs]. The registration system for superhumans is one of the management policies implemented by the Kingdom of Alzora and many other nations on the mainland for people with superhuman powers.

This policy applies to knights, magicians, and other professions alike - once they become apprentices, they must register with an industry association under government regulations. Although semi-mandatory in nature, this requirement serves both as a form of control as well as protection; especially so when it comes to someone like Alex who joins a Magician Association after registering and is then eligible for numerous benefits such as access to magic books or equipment through lawful means.
