Monster Core

Getting out of the hovercar I looked at Hunters Guild's main building. Since I'm a newbie I decided to sell the tiger to the Guild instead of the vendors in the market grounds. The vendors might take advantage of me but the Guilds prices never change.

Walking into the Guild I went toward the back of the first floor were the monster trade station is.

Getting to the monster trade station I walked into one of the booths and saw a middle age man at the counter.

I got to the counter and put my backpack 9n the counter. "Let's take a look at what you brought me young man." said the man while opening the bag. "Looks like the meat, pelt, claws, and teeth of a copper toothed tiger is that correct?" I nodded not at all surprised that he could identify the monster since this is his job.

"Did you want to sell the monster core as well"? Asked the man."Can you appraise it first? I asked. "Yes I can I'll need to go grab something tho." "That's no problem sir." " alright then I'll be right back." He said and walked away.

Grabbing a small box from my pocket I opened it and could see the small monster core inside it. The core resides in the skull of a monster so if you destroy a monsters head then you will lose the monster core. It looked like a small copper colored ball about the size of the thumb nail of a human.

The man returned with what looked like a really high tech microscope. It looked like a normal microscope but had tiny little mechanical prongs that when he put the core between them, moved when he used a joystick.

"It's a normal quality copper toothed tiger monster core that can be used to power a dagger with four inscriptions on it." He said and I replied with " I'm not good with blacksmith stuff can you explain inscribed weapons and monster cores please?" He sighed and said "I'm not good with that as well so I can only tell you the basics. First monster cores are used to power anything that has an inscription instead of you having to use your own mana. Second, inscribed objects are made by blacksmiths that forge an object that can handle the power of the inscriptions. Third, when a blacksmith makes the weapon they will then place inscriptions on it that use mana to activate and since monster cores have alot of wild mana that humans can't use, they are typically used to power inscriptions.

Fourth, the more inscriptions a weapon has the more powerful it becomes when they are activated. Fifth, different monster cores will have different uses like this one that works for daggers or the monster core of a flaming boar that can be used to power inscribed armor. And finally the ranking of monster cores. Monster cores are ranked low, normal, high, and peak. The better the ranking the more powerful inscriptions it can power or last longer powering less inscriptions. Did you get all that young man?"

I knodded and said "Thank you for the help sir, I'll take the core with me and find a blacksmith to get a dagger from later." He knodded and said "Well then, let's move on. The price for the late stage monster is 1,000 Enas but it can fluctuate depending on certain things. This monster will get you 1,600 Enas since the meat, pelt, claws, and teeth are in demand." He then transferred me the money and I said "Thank you sir have a good rest of your day." He just smiled and waved his hand at me.

Walking out of the Guild building I thought 'I should find a blacksmith tomorrow to get a dagger.' Then got in my hovercar and went back to my apartment.
