Temple of the Water Spirit (3)

Mirage looked considerate when he opened his mouth to ask.

"What happened to her followers and other templars then?"

The mysterious woman sighed and said in sadness.

"They left, while those who stayed died due to old age until I found out just recently that I am the only remaining templar that managed to live until this day..."

Despite his hesitance, he still went on to ask as nicely as possible.

"That... your tenacious beliefs and the longevity of your body is quite admirable old madame, but isn't it quite improbable for humans to live for such a long time so how..?"

The old woman must've been lonely for a long time as she was quite enthusiastic when she talked to him about her past until she suddenly stopped for a moment before laughing eerily.

"Huhu, you might not believe what I was about to say to you though, the secret for my long life is because I was tasked by the Water Governess to find a worthy successor for her to possess and that successor coincidentally happened to be you!"

Then she suddenly laughed maliciously.

Mirage had no idea by what she meant for him to become Undine's successor but from what he heard from her words and voice, being possessed by her might mean trouble for him.

His expression rapidly changed and he shouted in his mind as his figure rapidly retreated to exit the room.

'Not good!'

He wasn't too optimistic if he would be able to resist the body possession of Undine thus he unhesitatingly chose to run away, he had no thoughts of fighting her directly head-on currently his measly strength.

From what he could see outside, she must've been an extremely strong spirit that would be able to kill him with just a flick of her hands.

When he turned around his face immediately warped into a shocked and despairing expression as he saw that the doors had already closed without him knowing.

An intensely bright light suddenly shone behind as it illuminated the whole hall with blinding radiance, he did not stop in his tracks but continued to run away from the throne.

He did not forget to turn his head around to look behind him.

He saw that the massive throne shone brightly as its size rapidly shrank to fit a normal human and finally he saw that there was a faint outline of a woman silently sitting on the throne.

He immediately knew that the source of pressure came from this woman and not the throne itself.

He frowned as he gelt cold sweat dripped down his forehead as he thought that the situation doesn't look too good for him and judging by the killing intent that the silhouette exudes it was clear that she was in for the kill.

He knew that he would only die instantly if the woman made his move but he couldn't do anything but to succumb to his fate surrender his body to Undine unwillingly while thinking to himself.

'Why me? I'm a man! Why possess the body of a man?!'

He was shouting to his mind indignantly when the shadow below him slowly morphed to form a human shape, he was shocked and could not react as he saw that it had already dashed towards the throne, its speed was astonishingly fast as it had already arrived before the throne.

He was stunned by the sudden turn of events as he only heard a cold voice of a man shouting at the mysterious woman.

"I finally found you! Now die for me!"

BOOM!

A resounding explosion occurred after his shout, intense wave of hot air assaulted Mirage that caused his body to be knocked back to the walls.

He felt terrible as he took some time before he could recover from the aftereffects, his expression was grim as he looked towards the site of the explosion.

The area was covered with thick black smoke that made him not see anything temporarily, but this did not linger that long as it was being slowly dispersed by the air.

The smoke was cleared away and he could now see what happened to the mysterious woman and his shadow clearly.

The once pristine and shiny white tile around the throne was now charred black because of the explosion that occurred, and not far from the throne he could see two people standing not far from each other as they were coldly glaring at the other.

On the left stood a beautiful woman clad in blue clothes while on the right was a tall man who wore pitch black clothing.

The black-clad man looked handsome and dashing while his face was cold and murderous, he emitted a terrifyingly thick bloodthirsty aura that could make anyone shudder in fear, the handsome man was precisely the one who was chased by the purple lion and fell down the raging river waters.

Mirage silently thought to himself with apprehension displayed on his face.

'What a terrifyingly cold killing intent! He should've killed countless people for him to accumulate this much of death resentment...'

He had seen a fair share of killers and assassins back on Earth and he could say that in terms of killing intent, there were only a few killers/assassins he knew that were comparable to this unknown man and they could only be counted using his hands.

The blue-clad woman had short shoulder-length blue hair that would wave around as she walked.

She wore an off-shoulder long blue dress that completely covered her body down to her knees and she wore a pair of blue flat sandals on her feet.

She had an exquisitely beautiful face, a pair of sapphire blue eyes, a straight and delicate nose, and fatally seductive cherry red lips that could make the throats of men go dry.

The woman in blue was currently looking at the black-clad man in hate who in turn looked at her with his murderous black eyes as a response to her hateful gaze.

Mirage had no idea who these two people were and he only had a vague idea of who the woman was while he was completely clueless about the sudden appearance of the man in black.

He had also heard the man saying that he had found her thus Mirage asked himself in confusion.

'Does that mean that this mysterious man was looking for this blue-haired woman for a long time already? She's an impostor that disguised herself as this temple's templar? Then who the hell is she?'

He was muddled by this as he had lots of questions to ask but chose to not voice them out as he knew that it might affect the slowly building up tension if he needlessly meddles between them.

Then he heard the sudden shout of the woman, her voice was filled with hate and anger.

"How could it be you again?! How are you able to find me every time?!"

She was gnashing her teeth when she said this to the man and it was obvious in her voice that she truly despised the man to the bones.

Mirage heard her words clearly and the questions that puzzled him were almost all cleared away because of this.

She wasn't related to this temple in any way and might be an outsider who managed to coincidentally find her way in the temple to seek shelter from the chase of the black-clad man.

He had no idea about how she could control the huge doors of the temple when she wasn't even related to Undine, he could only assume that maybe it was a hidden mechanism that she managed to see through thus using it to her advantage.

He couldn't do anything about this fact but even then, he still managed to thoroughly understand how and where he was deceived by the lies of the woman she gave to him.

At the entrance when he first entered the front yard of the temple, he was instantly greeted by the solemn statue of Undine and it made him subconsciously think that this was the temple of Undine which was true but she used and exploited this fact to her advantage and deceived him to make him believe that Undine had lived here before disappearing and only she the 'templar' remained after all these years.

She made quite a believable story in fact as he was indeed completely deceived by her lies by using the things that he saw in the temple to use as the foundation for her lies.

As to how the doors had suddenly closed? He thought that there must be another hidden mechanism that the woman exploited and he needed to find where that mechanism lies so that he could leave this place as soon as possible.

The 'templar' woman remembered the face of the man opposite her very well, how could she possibly forget the man who continuously chased her wherever she goes?

She wanted to deal with the man once and for all if not for her injury then she would've done so already but she could only escape miserably every time she met him somewhere.

She hated this pesky man to the bones for a long time already and she couldn't wait to tear this hateful man into shreds and now that she had managed to regain her battle prowess, she would now properly deal with this man and teach him a lesson that he would never forget all his despicable life.
