Chapter One Hundred and Thirteen

Working at the restaurant brought to her, a totally new experience as she gradually got used to everything in her new environment. He boss was the manager of the place and also a chef. From the moment he had set his eyes on her, he had taken such liking to her that caused people to whisper. He was really nice to her and from time to time, would buy her gifts. He was actually a good looking man at his late twenties and had never been married or divorced. His name was Jonathan. A fine piece of work and every inch a gentleman, Jonathan really admired Bella. He had actually feared that she was married as a result of her pregnancy or probably engaged but then, he was surprised and at the same time happy that she was very much single. From the moment she had come to them for the interview, he had not been able to get her off his mind and had to call her up the very next day to inform her that the job was hers for the keeping. He still could not understand why she would pick such a stressful job in her condition and he dared not question her, hoping not to get on her bad side or tick her off. Instead, he would from time to time, try to assist her, to which she would always protest against.

People were already talking, and there were gossips and rumours flying around as everyone claimed that he had smuggled in his baby mama as it was really obvious that he was the father of the baby. He refused to debunk the rumors as in the midst of all, they were also those who actually admired him for being able to protect his woman and stand by her. He loved the fact that they were in the scandal together, Bella at first was not comfortable. She seemed like she had seen a lot in the world of men that seemed to make her keep her distance. It was almost like someone had broken her heart to shreds, and that' might be the case, hence, her pregnancy. He was actually angry that someone had actually thought of hurting such an amazing person. They had steadily built up their friendship but with time, she eventually loosened up to him, even though, he could still feel that she was being reserved about everything. He did not mind at all, she had the right to do her thing and so did he. They respected their boundaries and remained good friends. 

At first, Bella had been surprised at the closeness from her boss. She did not want to get entangled with him or anyone, all she had sought after was a job to keep her going. But then, he was so adorable and easy to flow with, he had these intensity in his eyes when he talked to her. It comforted her to see him, it felt like he was telling her that everything would be fine and whenever she was with him, she could feel her sadness slip away. He was really nice. Then came the rumors and gossips. People eyed her, some with envy, others with mistrust and others with distaste. She had actually felt uncomfortable about it and was almost over drawn into herself, she wanted no trouble. At a point, she felt like she was tarnishing his image and began to avoid work To her then, she had made a mistake and should have never sought for a job too soon. She should have waited as her father had suggested until she had her baby, maybe then, it would have turned out better. 

Her father had been her rock at that time, comforting her and reminding her that no matter what she did, she actually would never be able to please the whole goddamn world. She thought of this but she felt like she was not ready. It was around this time that he had visited her, demanding to know why she was acting as she was. He too had been affected by the rumours but he was not complaining, he reminded her, instead, he had welcomed it with all his heart. If they said he was the father of her baby, should that not be a good thing. He advised that she let the rumours be and return to work as they actually needed her back. He left that day after saying those things that shook her world. The next day, she made up her mind and prepared for work. With such confidence, she headed to work. He was happy and welcomed her with a hug to the surprise of many. 

Ever since that day, their closeness had grown a lot and she actually felt glad she had listened to sound reasoning..
