Chapter Eighty-eight

The good natured doctor was waiting for him already at the office. As soon as he saw Stella with him, one could easily read the surprise in his expression. He just might have been expecting Bella not his troublesome ex-wife and he did his best to contain his present composure. Waving them a seat, he exchanged pleasantries, "Cut the long talk doctor, is there anyway it's scientifically possible for a woman to get pregnant, one week, I repeat just one week after sex because I don't understand this one ",Jay said cutting him short when he tried striking the usual 'long time no see ' greeting with Stella, the bitch frowned. "You never told me you guys were back ",the doctor said frustrating Jay the more, "We're not back doc, we just made a mistake during a drunken state ",Jay said eyeing her viciously, she put up a baby face and asked so innocently, "Was that all it was to you? ",and before he could lash out, the doctor cut in, "Well ",he began, clearing his throat to get their full attention, "It is indeed possible as sperm begins it's fertilization and implantation process, two to three days after intercourse ",he said making Jay go white. He could not believe his ears, he did not know but he felt like this question was inevitable, so he asked, "Is there a way to find out the paternity of the child during pregnancy? ",he asked finally making her flinch. The doctor was trying to observe the situation here, what had happened to that good natured girl he saw that day, why would Jay Martins entangle himself with this witch again after all she had caused him the last time, "Well.... Doc? ",she said bringing him back to reality, "Oh yes, a DNA test can be conducted but I'll advice one to two months of pregnancy, then we can get the ball rolling ",he explained carefully. Jay did not look like one to be patient enough with the woman, it was taking all his willpower already not to strangle her, so he requested that a pregnancy test be conducted immediately. He needed to be sure of what he was dealing with and God help her if she eventually fell into his trap. The doctor excused himself and her, to collect samples for the test and while Jay was waiting, he decided that he was going to make it up to Bella. Speaking of Bella, he suddenly realized that he had not heard from her, what a jerk he somehow always turns out to be. He quickly picked up his cell phone and dialed her number, three times he dialed, three times she declined his call. He knew she must be really pissed already and he could not think his way through this one, somehow, he was scared she was going to find out, and somehow he knew a cup of ice-cream was not going to solve this problem. He texted her an apology, informing her that he had an office emergency that needed his attention, he waited hopefully for a reply, but he got none. He wished he could abandon this whole Stella shit and go after his woman whom he had wronged. Stella came inside soon and he found himself picking up a magazine to get his mind off strangling her, "I assure you Jay, I'm really pregnant and the baby is yours ",she said after a while, waiting for his reply, he said nothing so she was about opening her mouth again when he cut her, "I'm in no mood to talk to you Stella, let's both quietly and patiently wait for the result. We'll take it up from there then ",he said moving his attention back to the magazine, smiling triumphantly at the impact of his harsh words on her. He hoped that somehow she also dropped dead. She became quiet. 

It took a while, waiting for the doctor but soon he walked inside, "I'm sorry I took time, these things takes procedures ",he said taking his seat, dropped an envelope in front of Jay and was drying his face, "What's this doc? ",Jay asked him, "Oh that's the test result, Miss Stella is a week pregnant ",he explained, "Although we would be watching her for.... ",Jay lost him at that point, he could not believe his ears, "What??? ",escaped his mouth and he heard her say, "I told you so".
