"You look like you haven't had any sleep for a week," this was what the Shaman said when he saw her walk inside the office where he was staying. The Shaman had been staying in the facility studying the things that those robed men had left. After seeing Ava's appearance, he stopped reading the documents in his hand and leaned back, observing his apprentice.
"Matthew wanted me to become the Queen." Ava sat opposite the Shaman.
"And?"
"Do you think I could become one?" she asked.
"Does it matter?"
"What?"
"Do you think my opinion matters?" the Shaman said. "This is between you and your mate."
"Matthew needed to stabilize his rule," Ava said. "This plane needed to recover."
"From what?"
Ava said nothing. Instead, she rested look at the ceiling. The Shaman was right. She hadn't had an iota of sleep last night as she thought about Matthew's proposition.
"Aren't you going to marry him?" he asked.
"I am."
