Chapter 5

After the day he saw her, he just wished go gave him another chance to see her again. He just wanted to explain things to her. "She is really a nurse." He smiled at Maal. "Told you," Maal smiled back at him. Puku stared at Kuenga in disbelief. "Well, do you blame yourself?" Ninjala asked. "Yes, I do."

"You should at least waited for some time and explained things to her." Ninjala added.

"I saw him, he really is here," Lhawang told Pema. "Who? Kuenga?" Pema kept her eyes on the phone. And then she added, "I told you, I saw him." Lhawang tied her hair and said "he shouldn't be here." After her shift was over, she went home early and she was lost in her thought. She couldn't decide whether she was still in love or she was still mad.

Kuenga relaxed in the balcony, bumming a smoke and reminiscing on the early days when he used to watch the stars with Lhawang. And the song can't help falling in love provided souvenir of their dates and the time they had been together.

It was snowing again during their second encounter in the eight eleven mall. He watched her from a distance when he was getting a liquor. She was wearing a white over jacket with a black jeans and a black boots. "Lhawang?" she heard a voice from a distance and she wanted to ignore but she waved her hands and said "come outside."

He quickly paid for the liquors and rushed outside. "Are you following me?" she exclaimed. "No, no. I just came to buy something and I saw you." He smirked. "And it's rea-----""Just go back to where you came from," she cut him mid-sentence. ""Can we just talk?" he pleaded. "No! I don't want to talk." She shouted. "Lhawang!" he shouted, "Don't fucking shout at me," she shouted.

"Just listen, please," he pleaded again. "Get lost," she rushed to her car. "Just want to talk," "I said, get lost and don't follow me." She got in car and drove away. He couldn't explain a thing to her.

Even though Kuenga wanted her back in his life, she never gave him a chance to explain himself. Whenever or wherever they met, she always told him to get lost and they fought every time. It has been three years but Kuenga was still in love with her and wanted to be with her again. But for Lhawang, she never wanted to see him again.

During a Saturday night, Kuenga went out with his friends to Viva City and they were partying and enjoying. His friends were dancing and Kuenga went for a drink to the bar and to his surprise he saw Lhawang, she was with a friend. "Lhawang?" he called her. "Yes?" she responded and Lhawang was passed out, she was wasted.

"Are you drunk?" he asked. "Yes I am," she giggled. And suddenly she snuggled up against him and started to cry. "Why did you leave?" "Hey, you are drunk, Lha." She cried and faced towards Pema and said "I love it when he says, Lha." Kuenga smiled and said "don't cry, come on stop crying." "I want to go home," she yelled at him. "Okay. Hey," he turned towards Pema and said "I'll drop her home, you want to come?" "No, you can drop her, I have some friends." Pema smiled at him.

"Maal?" Kuenga called him and said that he was going to drop her home and he will be back. Maal agreed and Kuenga held Lhawang's hand and started to walk out but she wasn't walking with much determination and she was stumbling around, when he finally carried her on his back. She was blind drunk. Kuenga helped her in his car and when he got in the car, she started to touch his nose and laughed.

"Where do you live?" he asked her as he turned his car. "You don't know where I live?" she cried again. "Don't cry, just tell me." "Well, how would you know? You left me," she cried louder this time. Kuenga shook his head and drove. After a while he stopped and asked again "Where do you live?" This time she said, "Jungshina."

He was relieved. They drove past the bridge when she started to vomit. He quickly halted the car and took her outside. He got some water from the car and he held back her hair as she was vomiting continuously. He gave her some water when she was finally done and he helped her back in his car. She finally showed him her apartment building and he helped her again to her apartment and she pulled her foot mat and took out her keys.

He helped to her bed and when he almost left, she held his hand and said "You're leaving me again?" he smirked and she suddenly pulled him closer and when she tried to kiss him, he resisted. She pulled him again and kissed him. He resisted again and said "You will hate me tomorrow." "No, I won't," she held his hands and smiled at him.

She finally slept and he left a note saying, "Call me if you need me, Kuenga." And when he went back to his car, he thought about the moment and he realized that she did still love him. And that she had never been with anyone else. He drove back to the club and he picked up his friends and they headed back home.

The next morning, Lhawang woke up feeling dizzy and having no idea of what happened last night. She saw the note and she was shocked, "nothing happened between us," she whispered to herself. She went to the kitchen and made herself a lemonade. And then she took a shower and decided to go for a shopping.

When she got in her car, she got a call from Pema. "Did I go with Kuenga yesterday?" Lhawang asked. "Yes, you did and you cried in front of him." Pema laughed. "Oh, fuck," she was worried. "Okay, bye." And then Lhawang called Kuenga. "Hey? You know I was pretty drunk yesterday so whatever I did, I didn't mean any of those and there is nothing between us." Kuenga sighed and said "nothing happened between us yesterday, so don't worry." She quickly hanged up and then sighed.

After a while she got another call from Kuenga and he asked her for a coffee and she finally agreed to what he said. They went for a coffee and at the café, there was a painful silence between them. When there coffee almost got over, Kuenga finally broke the silence and said, "I didn't hug, Deki. She forced me into it and I was just resisting it."

She nodded but she didn't respond to him. And then Kuenga added, "You reacted so quickly and told me to get lost so, I got mad and I reacted so immaturely. I just want you to forgive me."

She finally sighed and said "but why did you leave everything behind? We could have talked and sorted it out but you just left and I was left shattered and broken. All these years, I had just been trying to forget you but I couldn't."

"I'm sorry, just forgive me." Said Kuenga and he left.

After he left, she thought about what he said and she stared at the coffee. She whispered to herself "it was my fault, I guess." And then she left the café and went for her shopping. She was lost in her thoughts and only wondered if they should get back together or not.

She headed back home and gave it some more thoughts and she just wasn't ready to forgive him or get back with him. All these years, he left her alone and didn't even try to contact her. And even though she was completely in love with him, she couldn't trust him again, she didn't wanted to feel the pain and hardships.

After the last meeting, they didn't call each other or texted each other and both of them were leading their own lives. Kuenga enjoyed the life he head with his friends and Lhawang was enjoying her life until she saw Kezang, a boy who worked with her. He reminded her of Kuenga. He had Kuenga's attitude and character. Lhawang always tried to stay away from him.
