CHAP 7: DARE

JACKLING POV

After signing the document, Skyler took it and placed it in a black folder which he kept on the shelve.

"Skyler, show mrs Kyle all round the company and make sure to teach her how things work here." He ordered before picking up his phone and started scrolling on it.

Skyler and I left Mr jerk's office.. oops! I meant Mr Walker's office.

Wow! It's such a shock to learn that he's the CEO of this company and what's more shocking it's to know that I will be working for him as his PA now. I really hope things will be okay.

"Hey you alright?" Skyler asked, concern laced in his voice.

"Yeah I'm fine" I smiled.

"It got really tense in there huh?!"

"Yeah it did!"

"I'm glad you didn't lose your job.. I thought Jayson was going to fire you! Especially when you spoke back at him" he said thoughtfully.

"Jayson? Is that his name?" I asked curious.

"Yeah... Jayson Walker. The most hot tempered man I've ever met"

Here's my chance!

"How did two of you meet.. I mean what were you even doing there with him? Do you work here?"

All these questions popped in my head the moment I saw him with Mr Jerk at my department and in Mr jerk's office too. But I never had the opportunity to ask him.

"Uh.. where do I start?... Jayson and I are childhood friends. You can consider me as his best friend, his most handsome friend, the most brilliant friend..."

"I get it! Two of you are friends.. Quite surprising by the way...I mean two of you look so different besides Mr jer-.. I mean.. sir doesn't look like the type to have friends" I remarked.

"That's true.. actually I'm his only friend." He chuckled.

"I see and for my other questions?" I raised a brow at him.

"Oh yeah!.. um.. I'm not only his best friend but also his PA or actually was his PA. That's why we were together" he said rubbing the back of his neck.

Then realisation dawned on me and I quickly let out a gasp.

"Don't tell me I just seized your job from you?! I'm so sorry! " I felt so bad for him.

"Oh no! Don't worry! Actually it's my fault if you are in this position right now.. I told Jay I wanted to resign that's why he had to replace me with you.. sorry"

"You don't have to be! I totally understand why you had the desire to resign. I've known this man for just a day and I feel like he's not easy going at all!"

Immediately he chuckled.

"What did I say?" I wondered aloud.

"Nothing! Don't mind me.. I was just thinking of the fact that you're very honest and straight forward.. I mean we're speaking of your boss here and I just told you that he's my best friend too but that doesn't stop you from speaking your mind out to me clearly. Aren't you scared I'm a telltale?" He smirked.. more of the playful type rather than a devilish one.

"You won't dare!" I said dramatically. Feigning to be scared.

"What do you have to offer Mrs?" He played along.

Then we both burst out in laughter.

"No like seriously I know Jay can be a douchebag at times but the reason I want to resign has nothing to do with his attitude" he stated.

"Really?"

"Yeah.. actually I own my own company and they need me right now... I took this job as Jay's PA before to help him out a little since he couldn't find someone competent enough. All that while it was my dad running my company for me but my he's  getting old and tired so..." he explained

"Wow! You're a CEO yourself yet you left your post just to help your friend out?!"

"I know I'm great!" He grinned in satisfaction.

I rolled my eyes at his lack of modesty.

"I only hope I will be competent enough!" I sighed.

"Don't worry you will! ... I believe you're a sharp a girl. It's no big deal... besides competent to Jayson means someone who's efficient and that he will tolerate."

"I don't think he likes me, so tolerate me?!.. I'm sure I won't last long in this company." I commented.

"I'm certain you will! He maybe doesn't likes you for now but.. " he shut his mouth abruptly.

"But what?" I asked.

"Forget it.. just do your best and it will be fine....  Let's start with a tour round the office and later on I will show what your job as PA consist of... okay?" He smiled

"Okay"

I didn't insist further cause I was certain that even if I tried asking him about what he wanted to say he wouldn't tell me.

It took us about thirty minutes for us to go round the company. It was really huge and had different departments but Sky just showed me the places that I would be really needing to know while explaining the different task I would be fulfilling there.

Later on we came back to the last floor. We both moved to the only office aside of the Ceo's on this floor. (Remember I spoke of this earlier CHAP 5)

"And last but not the least... your office" Sky said smiling and turning the door knob.

"Wow!" I gasped.

It was beautiful. The office was not as large as the Ceo's but that was fine. The walls were painted white which brightened the room. It contained all the usual stuffs you would find in a modern office. Simple but really beautiful. I like it!

We spent the next one hour reviewing the different task I would be accomplishing on the desktop and goodness having to master all that in just an hour was hectic!

Once we were done, Sky left wishing me good luck. Immediately as he left, I shut the doors of the office and knelt down to pray. I felt like inviting God into this place. I knew He was always present by me but I just felt the need of placing this office under His control.

"My Lord, I invite you into this place. May your presence be ever dominant in this place. Let no other spirit reign here aside of yours..."

Before I could realise it I entered into a trance and started praying in tongues! I loved when I started praying in the spirit and I would let nothing interrupt me. So I just kept on praying not taking note of the time nor my environment.

A while later I was done. I stood up and moved to open the door of my office but as soon as I did so, my boss barged in carrying a big scowl on his face.

"What the hell were you just doing?" He asked furious.

"Er... I was praying sir" I answered unsure of what exactly to say.

"Miss Kyle did I hire you to pray?!" He spat.

"No sir" I frowned.

I really disliked the tone he was using right now.

"Listen to me carefully.. the next time I come here and find you praying instead of doing your job be sure that I will fire you!" He spoke sternly.

Wait what?!

"Understood?" He yelled.

"Yes sir!" I blurted out without even thinking.

Then he stomped out of the office.

I sat down on my chair and wondered. What just happened? Why was he so mad?... I mean it's not like I did anything wrong right? Besides, what job was he even speaking about? He hadn't given me any yet! Goodness!

"Lord!.. please help me... spare me from trouble please."

JAYSON POV

I was in my office working on a document or actually pretending to be ... cause strange enough I couldn't stop thinking about my new PA.

"Jackling Kyle"

I thought of the moment she spoke back at me and smirked.

"You sure are interesting Jackling!"

Maybe instead of dealing with her I could try having some fun with her first.

"Why are you smiling dude?" My thoughts were interrupted by the most irritating and disrespectful guy I've ever met.

"Can't you knock?"

"Dude! You and I know that I can but I won't so just drop that topic and tell me why you're smiling" he insisted. Irritating indeed.

"Its nothing... are you done with miss Kyle?"

"Yes I am.. right now Jackling is getting comfy in her new office" he said smiling.

"Why are you so familiar with her?" I asked a little bit pissed.

"Chill bro! She's my friend"

"Friend? Since when?" Didn't they just meet today?

"Uh... um remember that day you called and I told you about an interesting pretty girl.."

"Don't tell me it was miss Kyle?" I interjected and he let out a nervous laughter.

Wait.. this means that this fucker..

"You tricked me didn't you?" I frowned.

"I don't know what you're talking about.." he feigned innocence turning his eyes away from me.

"Try playing that game with me Skyler and I will cut of that lying tongue of yours" I spoke in a low threatening tone.

"Okay I'm sorry.. I couldn't let you fire her just like that... dude! Please forgive me" he begged.

Skyler knew pretty well not to play tricks on me yet he did so for that girl?! That's fishy!

"Do you like her?" I asked

"Who Jackling?"

"Yes"

"Why are you asking me that?"

"Answer and I might spare you"

"I don't know yet... maybe" he rubbed the back of his neck.. gesture he made whenever he was nervous, sorry or sincere!

I narrowed my eyes at him and he still avoided my gaze.

"Fine! I will let it slip this time around" I sighed.

"Thanks man" he smiled and I rolled eyes.

"Don't try that next time" I warned

"I won't... I will be leaving now... I need to check on my company. Jackling is under your care now please be nice." He said then left.

Under my care huh! I will go check on her.

In just some few minutes I was standing before her office. I knocked gently but no response. I then tried turning the door knob but the door seemed to be close.

Why did she close the door? I leaned on the door to eavesdrop when suddenly I heard some babbling and groanings which sounded as if she was...

"Shit! Don't tell me I fell on a Christian!" I frowned.

This got me on my nerves.. everything but not this!

No doubt I hated her at first glance.

I balled my hands in a tight fist as memories of my past started flooding into my head.

I was about turning to leave when the door got unlocked... I couldn't control myself, I needed to lash out on her and I did.

I stomped out of her office and left for mine.

Once I entered my office I slammed the door closed and sat down angrily on my chair.

"You dared to send one of your servants on my way again huh! You didn't learn the lesson after all the harm I did to the past ones. I will make you regret repeating that act. I will make her suffer so much, cause I know hurting her is the only way I can use to hurt you! Just watch me from above. Watch how I render her life miserable."
