Cryptic

Lana

After reading to my satisfaction, I looked up and noticed that I must have spent a lot of time in the library because Gem was sleeping.

Her neck was going to get sore in the uncomfortable position that she was sleeping in. But first, I had to keep all the books I had taken and return them to their respective shelves.

When I had finished placing them in the shelves, I saw a white paper peeking out from one of the books grabbed my attention. It must be a bookmark but as I turned to leave, I felt this nagging sensation in the pit of my stomach. I always felt this when something was really important or amiss.

I turned back and picked the book up. It was voluminous and titled The Greatest Woman On Earth, intriguing name. I opened the book and flipped through it, the pages were so numerous. I came across the white paper that was in-between the pages.

The piece of paper was folded into two equal halves. It wasn't a bookmark, rather it was a cryptic short message which read

"Read this book, it will help along your journey and help in understanding your dreams better."

I frowned, how did this person know about my dreams? And what did they mean 'along my journey'?

I suddenly remembered about the bruise that was on my lower back. I placed my hand and touched the spot, it wasn't sore anymore. Infact I couldn't feel any remnants of pain on my back, I would have to check it when I got back to my room

This place was actually freaking me out, I put the white paper inside the book and walked to the table where Gem was laying her head.

"Gem,.." I tapped her gently on the shoulder as she mumbled in her sleep.

"Gem,.." I increased the pressure on her shoulder as she jumped awake.

"Oh my lady, are you done with reading?" She asked, there was a little drool at the corner of her mouth.

" Yes. Are you done sleeping?" I asked her, playing with her. I knew she was going to flush red like a tomato anytime soon.

"I'm sorry my lady, I didn't mean to fall asleep." She apologized as she looked down. I chuckled at her cute and helpless face.

"'Get up. I am ready to go." After she kept her book and slid the chair in to align with the table, we left the library.

"My lady, would you like to eat, since you didn't take your lunch?" Now I thought of it I didn't eat lunch because I was so engrossed in the library.

"Let's go to the dining room then." I told as we switched directions.

After we ate, I excused myself and went to my room, I was so pressed. Just one wrong movement could make the per come out, I walked carefully to the bathroom. I took a deep breath as I relieved myself. As I washed my hands in the sink, I stared at myself in the mirror. I remembered that I had to check if the mark was still there.

I raised my shirt up and turned at the side to look at the mirror, the big bruise was no longer there. What was happening to me? Ever since I was brought here, strange things had been happening to me. But in the human world, I had dreams but couldn't remember them. And that book that the mystic person commended me to read. Will that help me understand everything if not most things?
