Pei Ye calmly walked over, the dangling feet of the corpse were at the same height as his navel. He looked up at the face slumped forward and realized that, remarkably, their paths had crossed once before—it was one of the three men he had encountered in the woods.
The corpse's chest and abdomen had caved in, undeniably, he was the prime target of the horrific explosion. Just one hit, and he had passed from life to death.
The window behind him was pushed open. Pei Ye walked to the window and looked out. Outside was the backyard first, and beyond the wall was a densely packed residential area.
What happened in this room seemed clear: the murderer pushed in the door, killed the man seated and eating with one blast that was as subtle as a gust of wind, and then immediately retreated through the window.
But... Pei Ye once again returned to the door, where remained a pair of light muddy footprints.
