Eventually, Lucas frowned at the growing horror on her face. "Oh for fuck's sake, Celia. I'm only teasing you."
"And how the hell am I supposed to know that?" Even she was surprised at how outraged she could make a whispered sentence sound.
The sheer relief that rushed through her, however, made her limbs go limp.
"I can't believe you think I spend my days hiding in corners and dallying with random women. Do you really not know me at all?" he scowled at her as if he were genuinely offended.
"Well, no actually! I don't. Not about that side of your life, anyway. You never talk about it." That was the honest truth. Apart from being aware Lucas was unmarried, Celia didn't know anything about other relationships he'd had. Apart from his mother, he'd never so much as mentioned another woman's name.
But she assumed a man as stunning and intelligent as him wouldn't have spent a life in celibacy.
