Chapter 7 - Leaving 1

The next day, Maeisha got up very early.

Yesterday Papa Demaris with Mama Lena went to the village head to sell her house and settle their moving away. Because Papa Demaris was someone from the capital the Village head was not condescending like he usually was with Mama Lena and politely settled all the matters.

He was in fact very scared since it was his son that pushed her into the pond. He thought that Papa Demaris would take revenge on him for her sake. But how could Papa Demaris do something like that in front of everybody. He would do it covertly so that no one could tell.

Papa Demaris was actually a little devious. He would even more not let anyone get away by bullying his precious little girl.

Helena had already packed everything. In fact, she and Helena didn't have plenty of possessions. Old clothes with patches were left unpacked, because Mama Demaris said they would buy new ones once they were in the capital. All she could do was to pack up some small momentos and photos as souvenirs. But she was so poor that their bag was not completely full.

Mama Lena told her to wear her best clothing and clean herself up so that she could make a good first impression on her family. After all she was going to be living with from now on.

Maei was the most beautiful child in the village and in her mother's words the most cutest when she shows her sweet dimple smile. Mama Lena said she was fair and beautiful when she was young, like a fairy coming out from a painting.

She would smile to anyone she met. Everyone in the village liked her and would always give her some candies during the New Year Festival.

Though the candies were one of the cheapest and hard to eat kind, she would always be happy to accept them, because they were rarely found here in the village.

After having the impurities removed from her body she looked even more beautiful, like a small fair little angel.

'Would the rest of her family like her?'

She cleaned her face again with the towel when thinking about it.

She was an orphan in her last life. Which was also the reason she refused to leave Mama Lena after being in her care for the past two weeks. She didn't know who else was in her family and she was anxious as she didn't know how to behave with them.

In her past life when she was five she was brought into the sect. After her Master choose her from the other kids, she didn't receive any familial warmth from him. She was shown how to refine pills and was left alone everyday after being told what to do. Being master's only girl disciple she was even more ostracised by other kids in the sect since she wasn't given his protection.

It was only when she started showing talent in Alchemy that he started paying attention to her. By then she was more used to his indifference and became uncomfortable when he tried to get close to her. She was even more disgusted by his fawning when she surpassed his cultivation and became a Pill God.

She got dressed and went outside her room to see Mama Lena opening the bottom of the sofa outside in the living room. She took out layers and layers of bedsheets before opening a small hidden cache inside. Inside were all her savings until now with the few jewellery she had.

Until now, Helena seemed to be still dreaming. She still couldn't believe that Maei's biological parents had found her and instead of taking her away by force, was allowing her to be with Maei.

She was already out of fashion and never went to any metropolitan before. So she felt that she would be out of place there, with some money with her she could buy herself and Maei some things.

Before leaving she sold all her livestock and poultry. They would be of no use to her and she didn't think there was anything for her and Maei to come back for. With some money in her hand she could keep them for emergencies.

She was thinking of renting a small place with the money and maybe find some place to work. She couldn't always stay with Maei and her parents. People would say that she only rejected the money to live in riches with them.

She wouldn't have that. She couldn't let anyone embarrass Maei, especially because of her. So she had already made up her mind to move out as soon as she found a place to live. Maei could come visit her or she could go see her.

It was enough as long as she got to see her and be in her life.

Soon it was time to leave...
