Chapter 44 - Wing Mark 2

They all kept looking at the monitor to see whether there were any changes on the hands of the children. After an hour of no changes they went to do their own tasks, while the leaders were still keeping an eye on what was going on inside.

After a few hours they saw the lights finally moving. They all floated to the center of the group before spreading out and encircling them in the middle.

"Mona record!"

Arve ordered as soon as he saw it. He knew this encirclement, was very familiar with it as it was Her way of blessing them. He had gone through the same blessing when he was baptised by Her. The next thing that happened was just like he expected.

Everyone gathered around to watch what the lights were doing.

The sprites first encircled the group within before they started to rotate and looked as if they were a circle of light. The circle started to shrink as it moved upwards and rotated faster and faster. As it was moving upwards there was sprinkle of luminance rain on the group and was soon absorbed by them. When it reached the top of the room there was a bright pop of light.

The sprites disappeared just as they had appeared before!

All stared open mouthed at the phenomenon that happened inside the room. They all thought the same thing,

'That was sooo cool!'

Arve saw that the blessing was finished and the sprites disappeared.

"Chloe maximise the hands of the kids." Since the sprites had left they could see what they had done.

Chloe did as asked and soon all could see Maei's as well as the rest of kids wrists. As they looked at it they gasped at the beautiful mark on their wrists.

The mark on Maei was of a Blazing Fox that was already on the verge of extinct. There had been very few sightings of the Blazing Fox in the last 50 years.

They knew that the fox was a solitary animal who loved playing tricks on people. There were still records of people being tricked when they encroached on their territory. They are also extremely playful and have been seen playing with other animals as well as kids, but would run as soon as they saw adults come closer.

The fox on Maei's wrist encircled her like a bracelet. The fox had nine tails of which four encircled her wrist and the other five unfurled towards her hand like a harness and spread to her fingers. It looked as if Maei was wearing an intricate hand harness.

While the mark on Maei was of a full nine tailed fox the rest of the wing were not so blessed. Rather they all had a simple one tailed fox that encircled their wrists and looked cute, beautiful and almost alive.

Only Roi had different mark. His was also a fox that encircled his wrist but it was not a one tailed but a four tailed fox. Like Maei two tails encircled his hand while the rest two unfurled towards his middle and index fingers.

The fox was tiny and looked as if it were alive with the way the tails sometimes moved.

All the people in the room looked jealous as they gazed at the charming mark on their hands.

"It makes sense that it is a fox." Lorcan commented as he looked at the mark on his sister's hand. Rhys also smiled as he remembered the bright smile on her face when he had won the fox toy for her at the arcade.

"Why?"

"Maei loves foxes. She has a few toys of the animal in her room. After we knew that she has a fondness for the animal, grandma and mother had a few trinkets made for her. She displays them in her room." Lorcan explained his sister's obsession with the animal.

"So does the leader determine what the mark will be?" Mona asked Arve.

"It seems so in this case. We unfortunately don't have enough information about it. The previous kingdom did not take proper care of the records left by the first kingdom. The first head tried and document everything he could before the records turned to dust because of bad handling over the years. We have incomplete recordings at best."

Arve smiled and comforted Mona and Chloe as they were sad over the loss of information over the years. If they had a better understanding of what was going on then perhaps they would have been able to better help Maei and her wing when they would wake up.

Right now they could only keep on document Maei's wing and hope for the best.

"After they wake up take accurate readings of whether the mark itself has any energy or power. Since this is completely new for us we can only trouble Maei and her wingmates for more information incase something like this happens to some other group."

"You think this will happen to other groups as well?" Sol asked alarmed, because if it were so he would have to switch the training of all kids to their respective flight training room.

"Yes. We have to be prepared brother. Nothing happens for no reason. Since it has started to happen once it will happen again."

Sol made the decision and commanded all flight commanders to take care of their respective flights and have them training in their own building for now.

"I think that the danger period is over, now they are just consolidating their bond and will wake up in a few hours. Sol have the medical division come here and set up in the other training room. They will need medical care and nutrition support around the clock. According to the reports the wing will feel lethargic, weak, and confused for a few days before they are able to adjust to the changes. Make sure that Maei is with them at all times and not isolate them otherwise they will turn aggressive on you."

Arve ordered according to what he knew. They were records of one person being isolated from the rest of the wing and the complete wing destroyed the building they were in to reach their wingmate.

"Its done sir. Their family members are also here and being escorted to the Alpha flight by the guards.

"Good now all we can do is wait."....
