Chapter 39 - Enlightenment 2

Sol left his cabin and went to the training room again to see if there is any changes in the situation.

When he reached he saw Rhys's and other Alpha flight wing members spread out throughout the building and not letting anyone near without proper authorisation.

He nodded to them and walked inside seeing Nessa, Rhys, and Lorcan looking at the monitor worriedly.

"What's the matter?" He demanded as soon as he saw their faces and rushed to see the monitor himself. What he saw stunned him.

Since Nessa had them sit in the wing formation they were sitting in the ground in the same manner.

On the monitor they could see there was a dense fog rising around them with Maei in point and others behind her. They couldn't see where the fog came from but it was covering them all and tiny lights could be seen floating around them. The lights were floating as if it were dancing to a melody they couldn't hear and were in sync.

"What is going on? Why are you all staring at the monitor?"

Awstin Griffin asked as he walked in.

Behind him was Arve with his guards who were there to protect him though he said he didn't need them and that he could protect himself.

Seeing Arve all the people present saluted him and then stood aside to see the next step being taken.

Sol and Nessa exchanged glances. They couldn't explain what was going on so they simply pointed at the Monitor and asked Rhys to enlarge the screen so that everyone could observe what was happening inside.

Awstin was a large man who was still in his prime age of 102. The normal life expectancy of the people here was 200 and above depending on their Martial level. He had seen and experienced much during his lifetime but even he was flabbergasted when he saw the situation inside.

Arve stood beside his father and looked at the screen more importantly he looked at the little girl who had a serene expression and was meditating peacefully. He observed her and noticed she didn't look in any distress and so did the rest of her wing, so He relaxed a little.

Then he closely observed the lights that were dancing around them. Then his eyes widened. Weren't these sprites...

Rhys was paying attention to Arve. He knew his uncle was a lot more intelligent from the rest of his family, more importantly since young he had a lot of knowledge that wasn't recorded in books. When he was still in the academy he had invented a lot of things and was still inventing more. The research institute was working under his uncle. He was what everyone called a genius so if anyone would know what was happening inside it would be his uncle. When he saw his eyes widen he knew his uncle had gotten an idea.

"Second uncle do you know what this is?"

"Huh"

Arve tore his eyes away from his screen and payed attention to what his nephew asked him. He couldn't tell him truth, it wasn't time yet, so he could only tell him the half truth.

"Yes. I was surprised to find that there are actually records of this phenomenon."

"What?!"

Everyone was surprised to hear that.

"What do you all know about the history of wings and flights?"

"Not much. Just that the first head used this method of forming teams so that they could have better teamwork and coordination in battles." Nessa answered and everyone nodded as this was what they thought as well.

"The wing and flight system was adopted from the first ever Kingdom in the continent. The first head found records hidden under the old capital and went through them. It took him a complete year to finish them all. From that he knew that there used to be a wing and flight system to protect the strongholds and they would be the men who were born and had a connection to that place.

"He found that these teams had great coordination with each other and even more, with their connection to the stronghold they wanted to protect their home even more than others who weren't born there. They were trained from teenagers together and were not broken apart so that the experience of fighting collectively remained. That is why he applied this method in the Battle School as well as the Coalition Army.

"But there was another thing he found. He found that some special wings had a link with their leader. These links didn't happen with every wing but only with some. With that link a wing is much more intricately connected than they thought. There were records that the team didn't need an ear comm. or anything like that to talk to each other, they could have communications with their minds.

"Even more records say that the relationship between them is very symbiotic. The rest of the wing members feel uncomfortable or unnerved without their leader. They even found that the coordination among the wing was so perfect it was almost as if they were one mind and body."

Everyone had an expression of disbelief on their faces. As one they turned to look at the wing on the screen. This wing has been giving them surprises since the day they started school.

"They didn't have much technology or research then to find the answers about how they could form such a special bond but they found something. The leader."

Lorcan and everyone looked at Arve in concern about what this had to do with Maei.

"They found that it is the leader that forms the bond, that starts the link. The link begins with the leader and then spreads through the wing tying them in an inseparable bond, but at the same time this bond wouldn't begin if the rest of the group doesn't want the bond or have doubts about their leader. They would have to trust and believe in their leader implicitly."

Nessa then gasped as she remembered.

"That's right. First Maei started to mediate before her wing copied her."

They looked at Maei on the screen and then noticed that there is a faint gleam of light on the surface of their bodies. It was Maei who shines first after which the other members of her wing glow simultaneously.

"Arve is there any danger to the kids?" Awstin inquired as he was worried about them and he didn't know much about this matter. People always do fear the unknown.

"No, this a normal process that takes a few hours to a few days depending on how strong their bond is. The stronger the bond the longer it takes. After that they will be a little weaker so make sure to give them proper nourishment. They will also need to remain closer to Maei for a few days as the new bond will take time for them to get used to."

They all sighed out in relief.

Lorcan specially breathed out in ease. He was so worried that his sister was in danger that his nerves had been taut all this while. Now he can finally relax. He also needed to connect to his grandfather to let him know what is going on. He hasn't even had a chance to report to his grandfather about the previous events and now this happened.

Rhys looked at his uncle and had a feeling as if he was hiding something but since he didn't notice any malice he let it go. Deciding to grill him on his next rest day. He must have a reason to not say anything in front of everyone.

"Sol make sure to document everything that is occurring inside. Notify their parents about what is happening and let them know they aren't in any danger and that they can come see them anytime. When the kids wake up take care of them. I will visit them again to check up on them. Till then don't let anyone disturb the bonding process."

"Yes Sir!"

Sol understood that the person giving him the order wasn't his younger brother but the Head of The Empire.

Then looked at the screen in wonder, they all were.

Arve looked at them and thought this is only half the truth. How much more surprised will you be when you find out that this is something beyond their imagination....
