Chapter 34 - Mess 2

As everyone finished eating Maeisha noticed how everyone organised their trays while cleaning the table. They glanced around to make sure they hadn't dropped anything and if they had to scoop it up while cleaning it with the towel from the mess.

Maei led her wing mates to copy their flight mates and cleared their trays.

As they were clearing Roi and Simon took their trays to deposit it at the cleaning counter, returning a first year with two boys stopped them.

It was the same first year boy from their dorm who would mock them for answering the instructors correctly.

"Hey why are your things not in the room? Why are your uniforms different than ours?"

Roi and Simon were troubled as they were ordered not to leak any information to the first years. They didn't know what to say, so Simon answered to make them go away.

"We don't know as we were ordered by School Master to change our uniforms. Later you guys will also know why, now please leave we need to go with our group."

Roi and Simon started to leave but the boys blocked them and were very difficult and demanded to know where they were staying.

"Huh... what did you do to make the instructors give you these uniforms. We did the same training as you. Why are you been given preferential treatment. Is it because you guys are from distinguished families and we aren't."

Roi was irritated by his prejudice against their families. The rest of the Alpha flight members didn't leave and stood around to make sure nothing happened. If Roi and Simon couldn't handle them they will take over.

The other flights didn't care about a few first years fighting as they weren't trained enough to really hurt each other.

"The Battle school doesn't care about which families we come from but our own abilities so stop saying that we are given preferential treatment. As for why we got these uniforms you can ask the instructors yourself. Let's go Simon, leader is waiting for us."

But the three boys were being obstinate and didn't let them go. Seeing this Cade frowned and came forward.

"Is there a problem here?"

Seeing an older student the boys were scared and left while giving Roi and Simon a glare.

Cade lead them back towards the flight members and did a final check of the tables before leaving as a group.

As they were leaving the other first years stared angrily at Maei and her group. They were angry that Roi and Simon didn't share why they were having a new place to stay and different uniforms than them. In short they simply didn't want to use their own brain and cheat their way in by getting the answers from Maei's wing.

Maei and her wing mates followed the advice Sky had given them and ignored everyone.

"Don't worry about what they said. You guys weren't admitted to Alpha Flight because of your families but because of yourself. If anything Alpha flight has the least number of people from distinguished families."

Sky comforted their new flight mates as they were walking towards their dorm room.

Maei and her group nodded that they understood. They also knew the main reason Battle Master was thinking about scrapping them this year. It was because there were prejudiced individuals like him in the year polluting the harmonious environment of the school.

If other students also started to think like him then the environment based on merit that the school had would be destroyed by them.

They returned to their common rooms and Lorcan ordered.

"Alright peoples, three hours to lights out. Prepare for the day and then you can relax and do what you want."

Everyone nodded and left to prepare for next day.

Rhys left for the Flight leader office to read up on the new flight members.

Maei moved to her brother "Brother what time is wake up and what uniform do we have to wear for training tomorrow?"

Lorcan was happy to see Maei know what problems to tackle for her wing as most of the times they would be the ones to inform the new wing about what the procedures are.

As Maei and Lorcan were talking Nessa walked in.

"Maei!"

"Yes sir"

Nessa handed Maei her wing training schedule. She was going to have fun molding this group. From what she had seen this wing had great potential and she was the one instructed to bring it out of them.

"I will see you all tomorrow at 0630 don't be late." After commanding she left the common room leaving a stunned Maei behind.

Lorcan and others took the schedule from Maei to see what had her stunned but what they saw had them surprised as well.

How many firsts is her wing going to have.

Rhys came out to see what the noise was about. Lorcan handed him the training schedule silently.

Normally first years are only given fitness and obstacle course training to bring them to a normal level as other students. Its only when they finish level 1 in them are they given other training.

Maei and her wing were given completely different schedule.

Not only were they doing Fitness and obstacle course but they were also being given weapon training early. Weapons including archery, swords and guns.

That's right guns. According to the rules no students under the age of fourteen can handle guns but Maei's wing were going to start training ahead of normal schedule.

Rhys looked at Maei and her wing quietly.

He now understands what his father meant by saying that Maei and her wing will be given training unlike other wings and to make sure that they were upto standard. This standard meant they will surpass sixth year students like them in four years. By the time they graduate this wing will perhaps be one of the most elite wings in the system.

But that didn't mean that any wing could do the training Maei's wing are given. Only students with the aptitude Maei's wing had could do it and these wings were not formed every year.

The Battle Master was making a completely new standard of training for them so that their talent is not wasted...
