Chapter 30 - Alpha Flight

The Alpha flight members helped the first years with their things and escorted them to the Alpha Building. They were excited to have a new wing join their flight.

Maeisha and the rest were confused to see the other members so happy. Having new wings join their flight was a yearly thing so why were they so excited.

Rhys looked at the confused faces of Maei and others, and his own wing members who were practically skipping and smiled.

They soon came to the entrance marked with Alpha insignia in gold. This was the Building that all Alpha flight members resided in. Not only did it contain their dorm rooms but also their training rooms, weapon room, gym, meditation room and a small pantry for snacks.

Every hatch and entrance gate had a scanner, and only individuals with permission could enter. Rhys scanned his wrist and led everyone in.

The only thing different from other flights was that Alpha Flight had their own comm terminals. It was a perk reserved for Alpha flight members and only given permission when applied for time. They were only allowed to call those on their approved list.

They all walked in and came to the common room. It was empty during this time of the day as the other flight members were in classes.

The lockers were put down and arranged near the door. They will later be taken by them to the empty dorm room for them. Rhys sat down on one of the chairs in the room letting Lorcan take over. The older members rolled their eyes at him but sat down to watch the new wing as well.

"Okay first thing first, you don't know this but you guys are the first ones to form a wing in your second week. There might be a buzz around you in the mess and other common areas, so don't be surprised." Lorcan started already used to being the face of the flight, "Now you all might be a little confused as to why we are so excited to have you join us. See Alpha flight doesn't always get new wings each year like other wings. The last wing to join Alpha flight was three years ago."

"As such",...Sky made known "we have different standards, higher standards."

"Lay off sky, like us they will learn. Don't pay him much attention he is an idiot." Cade retorted as he saw the new wing looking nervous and worried.

"Thats right, you will learn. You are new students. No one expects you to be perfect and do everything right immediately. Its ok if you don't know how. You can ask us and the instructors as well and they will show you the correct way." Paul reassured while giving sky a slap on his head.

"Owww....Yeah I was just razzing you guys. Don't look so worried, we are all your teammates. We have your back. Let me tell you who to go to if you need help...sit down don't keep standing please." Sky rubbed his head and gave Paul a stink eye.

Maei and her wing relaxed at their banter and they all sat down on the sofa's surrounding the older wing to gain their wisdom.

"That is Hiro..." Sky pointed at someone. A friendly looking boy waved at them and smiled.

"He is the one who will teach you how to stow your gear properly and also clean them. Which reminds me Hiro they need to go to the store master and get their new gear can you organise that?" Lorcan explained to them while asking Hiro.

Hiro nodded and walked off.

"Are those comm. terminals?" Roi asked his eyes shining.

"Yes. Perks of being an Alpha flight member. As long as you apply for time and are not on privilege restrictions you can call anyone on your approved caller's list." Lorcan explained.

"That is Cled..." Lorcan pointed at a boy who had spiky hair. "He is the flight healer and you can go to him if you have any small injuries."

Maeisha looked at Cled to remember his face because she was also interested in healing and medicine.

"You guys already know sky. Though he looks like an idiot..."

"Hey!" Sky interrupted while everyone chuckled.

"Like I was saying he is an expert when it comes to weapon handling. If you ever need any advice you can go to him. Now, in the flight dorm, each wing has their own bunkhouse. Once you have been assigned a bunk they are fixed and cannot be moved. We have separate toilets and bathrooms for boys and girls and you already know the rule of being clothed outside of the shower rooms."

As Lorcan was explaining to them Hiro walked in.

"All ready with the store master."

"Alright Hiro they are all yours." Rhys pulled out his pad and looked at the files of his new members. He needed to know the new students under him so that he could prepare a proper training schedule for them.

"Come with me First years and keep up." Hiro lead them from the dorm and to the short distance of the administration building.

Another perk of being in Alpha Flight was that all common building areas were nearest to them. This made commute for them much easier and time saving.
