chapter 4 - young arthur

The fire inside the orc camp had already gone out, and a body of an orc fell across the ground.

The mercenaries were cleaning up the battlefield, even the leather armor on the orcs was stripped off, and the bodies were piled up in a heap ready to be burned, and those who happened to be not dead enough were given a supplementary sword.

No one felt cruel, the war between humans and orcs had been going on for nearly ten thousand years, and the hatred that had been incorporated into the bloodline made the killing seem natural.

 "Angus, how are the brothers?"

"It's okay, we have one serious injury and four minor ones, it's just a shame we ran away from that female leopard." The hunter who was wrapping gauze around his arm replied without lifting his head.

"Forget it, it's lucky we didn't lose any brothers." Thinking of that lioness who went crazy and attacked desperately before her death Cairns was still a bit scared now.

"That female panther is really something, if we catch it and get it into bed, it's fucking exciting to think about!" Tony, who hadn't been seen in the entire battle, appeared out of nowhere.

"Tony, just you? You can't handle the pussy at the Nightingale Bar and you still want to fuck a female orc, watch out for her to pinch that little dick of yours off."

Angus' flirtation with Tony elicited a rude laugh from the mercenaries cleaning up the battlefield.

Tony, however, was all but unconcerned about it and had an ill-concealed grin on his face, "Chief, we've got something big."

Tony said with a wave of his hand, several mercenaries escorted over a dozen or so young orcs that were strung up with ropes. Some of the young beasts bared their teeth and tried to resist, the mercenaries whipped down and made these young beasts lie on the ground and wail.

Cairns immediately had his eyes glowing, "Be gentle with your hands, these little guys can be worth a lot of money, kill one and lose at least a few dozen gold coins."

Many human nobles like to raise orc guards to show their wealth and power. Many noblewomen even privately get to do the bed of the plaything, as for the reason, in addition to the curiosity of the natural because the orc that thing is more than the human man's more powerful.

The adult orc warrior's character is stubborn, violent, is captured also refused to yield, while the young orc is easier to temper * teach and tame. Therefore, many nobles like to buy young orc slaves to cultivate from a young age, as soon as they appeared in the market, they became the sought-after goods that countless nobles and tycoons competed to buy, and the price in the slave market was only second to the elf women, and the rarer the race, the higher the value.

"Boss, do you think this has to be worth a thousand gold coins!" Tony yanked over Leon who was first in line.

"Oh, what a surprise, this little lioness didn't run away either?" Cairns crouched down and lifted Leon's chin with one finger.

Leon's eyes were bloodshot and his gaze was filled with hatred; it was these humans in front of him that had killed his mother.

A light golden glow suddenly erupted from Leon's hands, breaking the ropes binding them at once, and a pair of sharp claws pounced on Cairns in front of him.

Just as soon as Leon's form moved, he was grabbed by Cairns' large hand around his neck, unable to move no matter how much he struggled.

It was only when Leon was almost choked to death that Cairns slammed him to the ground, but with a hint of gravity on his face, "Tony, you should have tied it up sturdily for such a valuable little guy."

"Headmaster, there's another one here that's only worth one gold coin, what do you think about it?" A mercenary pulled out the skinny Arthur in the group.

Compared to the sought-after young orcs, human teenage slaves with little use were naturally worthless.

Cairns had noticed this strange teenager who appeared in the orc camp during the daytime, and was even more incredulous that he was able to defeat the young lion that had almost reached the level of a first rank warrior.

Cairns similarly lifted Arthur's chin, but with a much gentler motion.

Arthur looked up to reveal a smiling face and a mouthful of snow-white teeth, his face very well washed and his gaze even purer, despite the dirt and disheveled hair.

"What's your name and how old are you?"

"Chief, my name is Arthur and I'm twelve years old."

Cairns froze, "How do you know I'm the chief?"

"Isn't that what those big mercenary brothers call you?"

Cairns laughed, "You're very clever, why are you in an orc camp?"

"Our village was attacked by orcs two years ago, my mother was killed by an orc, and I was taken into captivity as a slave in an orc camp."

"You are lying!" Tony suddenly grabbed Arthur's collar, his eyes staring fiercely at him, "Orcs don't need small human children as slaves, on the contrary, some orc nobles prefer to eat human children. Also, although you are a bit skinny, you are not what a slave should look like, how do you explain this leather armor of yours?"

"Tony, you're scaring him." Adeline couldn't help but stop Tony, the boy's smile seemed to have a magical power that made her believe everything the boy said.

Arthur casts a grateful glance at Adeline, "Don't worry, beautiful, honorable lady, he won't scare me, I've seen meaner orcs than that."

"Sweet mouth to be sure." Knowing that his strategy hadn't worked, Tony slowly loosened Arthur's collar.

"I live because I still have value, and the Mistress wished to find his son a human opponent in order for him to learn more about his enemy." Arthur explained slowly.

 "Mistress? The lioness?" Cairns asked.

Arthur lowered his head grimly, "Actually Mistress has been very kind to me, if it wasn't for her I would have been food for some orcs."

Leon, who was still lying on the ground, suddenly raised his head and gave Arthur a surprised look.

"Untie him, he's no longer a slave with us." Cairns exclaimed.

"Thank you!" Arthur bowed and thanked Cairns, Adeline, Tony and even the mercenary who untied himself one by one.

Cairns grinned broadly and waved his hand, continuing to greet the other mercenaries as they quickly cleaned up the battlefield, leaving nothing of any slight value untouched.

"Are you going to ship back these tattered leather armor and orc weapons as well?" Adeline, who had been following Cairns, couldn't help but complain in a low voice.

"Ants are also meat, and you can always get some gold coins back by throwing them to a weapons house for recycling. You don't know how expensive it is, how many mouths are waiting for me to feed them? Moreover, we were wrong this time, except for these small orcs this noble camp has nothing valuable at all." Adeline's one sentence of complaint was exchanged for a torrent of complaints from Cairns.

"What are you going to do with that child?" Adeline suddenly asked in a low voice.

"Take it back to the city first, an interesting little fellow indeed." Cairns' eyes swept towards Arthur who was helping to clean up the battlefield. In a very short time Arthur had already blended in with the mercenaries and was helping them collect the valuable things from the orcs.

Cairns may not have imagined that it was his decision out of curiosity that changed the original trajectory of the history of the continent of Beland ...
