Chapter 17-Card

As the class continued, Dwight started to get bored and fell asleep at his desk.

Prof. Ellen noticed him but didn't mind.

Her job was to teach, not to force students to learn or listen if they chose not to. She wasn't concerned if they slept or skipped class.

It was up to them, and they would face the consequences of slacking off.

Lilia saw Dwight sleeping while the teacher spoke.

She thought he was being lazy and not taking the class seriously.

Many people would appreciate the chance to listen to a professional, yet he was just sleeping.

To her, his behavior suggested arrogance due to his status.

Feeling embarrassed to be near him, she wanted to move to another seat, but their seating was fixed.

Cris, on the other hand, admired Dwight for his boldness.

Despite being reprimanded by the teacher earlier, Dwight seemed unbothered and disinterested in the lesson.

Cris thought 'I wanted to be as confident as him'.

Although he felt scared of the teacher, Dwight's blatant disregard for her lessons impressed him.

Danica also wasn't paying attention to the class; her focus was solely on Dwight.

She kept glancing at him, wondering what she could do to get closer to him.

Meanwhile, some students listened diligently, like Lilia, who was taking notes.

She was hardworking and disliked lazy people like Dwight, who she felt relied too much on his status.

"You can try to practice controlling mana at—"

As Prof. Ellen is speaking, they suddenly hear a bell, signaling that class is over.

They had one hour to rest and do what they wanted before heading to their chosen departments after the break.

"Class is over, so you can all leave now," Prof. Ellen announced.

"The dorms are just behind this building, and your room names are based on your rank. You just need to swipe your card to open them."

She reminded them, and everyone excitedly left the classroom, eager to apply what they had learned.

Some students went straight to the dorms, while others decided to take a stroll around the academy.

Dwight, on the other hand, was jolted awake by the bell and was the first to leave the room.

Cris and Danica wanted to talk to him, but he had already disappeared, and they couldn't see where he went.

After everyone had left, an old man suddenly appeared in front of Prof. Ellen.

Ellen looked at the old man and said, "What do you want?"

The old man smiled, stroking his long beard, and replied, "Well, my dear granddaughter, why are you acting so cold? How's your first time teaching here?"

Ellen stared at him coldly and replied, "Don't call me your granddaughter, old man. Even though you're my grandpa, I won't forgive you for what you did to my parents."

The old man was used to his granddaughter's treatment and wasn't angry with her, as he loved her dearly.

"Even though you're angry with me, as the dean of this school, and you as a teacher, please try to be more approachable to the students. Don't always act so cold."

"I believed in your talent, which is why I put you in this class."

After he said that, he vanished in an instant.

Prof. Ellen looked at the spot where he disappeared, and tears fell from her eyes as she remembered her parents.

Dwight had already returned to his room and immediately told Tessa to gather their things, as they would now be moving to their dorms.

As the top-ranked student, he expected his living quarters to be the best.

He checked his student card from his pocket and placed his fingerprint on it.

The card required a fingerprint to unlock.

A screen appeared in front of him, displaying several details:

Dwight saw his points and realized they were much higher than most others.

During orientation, Cris had shown him his card, revealing only 5,000 points for being rank 9. He estimated that even the top 2 probably had around 8,000 points.

He cleared his thoughts and helped Tessa pack their things.

He noticed that Tessa's movements and composure were now more refined.

He knew that while he was away, Athena had been training her.

He had instructed Athena to stay hidden when he was with Tessa.

Once they had collected all their belongings, Dwight carried Nirvana in his arms and they walked toward the dorms.

As they walked, many students looked at Nirvana with curiosity, wondering what kind of creature she was.

Nirvana looked cute, but little did they know she was a mythical creature.

Dwight ignored them until a man suddenly appeared in front of him and blocked his way.

The man wore a silver robe and had a badge on his uniform.

"Hey newbie," the man said.

"My name is Antonio Edward, rank 20 in Batch 69 and a 2nd year from the Beast Taming Department. I see you have a rare creature with you. You must give it to me, and I promise to give you a slot to be my follower."

Antonio stated it proudly, and the other students who were watching were stunned and started talking among themselves.

"Wow, he's from the Beast Taming Department, and his rank is so high."

"It's tough to get into the Beast Taming Department, so he must be very talented."

They were amazed and excitedly watched to see what would happen.

It was their first time seeing Dwight, and they felt sorry for him, thinking he would be bullied by a higher-grade student.

Dwight tilted his head and replied plainly, "Where?"

Antonio was confused and asked, "What where?"

Dwight replied, "Where is my care?"

Then he pushed Antonio aside and continued walking.

Antonio was stunned, not expecting such disrespect.

He was angry and tried to grab Dwight's shoulders to stop him, but before he could, he received a strong kick to his groin and heard a cracking sound.

Crack!

"Argghh!"

Antonio screamed and fell to the ground.

The onlookers were stunned to see that the beautiful woman behind Dwight had delivered the kick.

The boys watching felt terrified, imagining themselves in Antonio's place.

They were shocked that despite her innocent appearance, she was brutal and merciless.

Kicking someone in the groin without hesitation was terrifying.

"Hmph, that's what you get for trying to dirty my young master's shoulders and trying to steal Nirvana,"

Tessa said disdainfully as she followed Dwight.

She was angry that Antonio was disturbing and blocking Dwight's path, so she decided to teach him a lesson. 

She knew Dwight would not sell Nirvana, which would only anger Antonio further, so she acted first.

With her unlocked physique, her strength had increased, and with Athena's help, she could now control her powers.

Though she knew she still had a long way to go, she was determined to protect Dwight.

Having been with him since childhood, she knew he preferred to act lowkey.

If Antonio had known Dwight came from the Starlight Clan, he wouldn't have dared to target Dwight's pet.

Dwight had just received his things, and his badge and uniform would be delivered the next day, so he wasn't wearing them yet.

Antonio thought Dwight was just an ordinary student and didn't take him seriously.

It was Antonio's bad luck to have picked the wrong target.

"Wow, I didn't expect you to do that. Hehe, now I'm afraid you'll crack my egg too,"

Dwight teased as they walked to the dorm.

Tessa immediately replied, "Tsk, he's lucky I showed him mercy. Otherwise, I would have crushed his face."

Dwight looked at her oddly, as if to say that what she did was already showing mercy, and wondered what would have happened if she hadn't been merciful.

Dwight then took out a card from his pocket and showed it to Tessa.

"Look."

Tessa looked at the card and was stunned to see that it was Antonio's card.

No one had noticed that Dwight had secretly stolen it and opened it using Antonio's fingerprint.

Dwight felt it was a fitting punishment for Antonio's irritation.

"Wow, young master, I didn't expect you to steal that so quickly without us noticing,"

Tessa said, amazed and proud of him.

Dwight smirked and looked at the screen.
