" I investigated you. I talked to your lecturer just now and he told me your room number." Stenson said, holding out a bank slip and a card. Naysa snatched them and studied them. She was shocked. All her school fees had been cleared. Truly speaking, she was worried about her fees since her mother developed heart illness, most family savings were used to maintain her health. The other card was an invitation card.
"Stenson, where is Jemmy?" She asked.
"In office. He send me to you madam." Stenson said.
"Call me by name."
" Boss will skin me alive." He replied. It sounded too funny that she laughed. Stenson was surprised at her reaction. "Madam, what's funny?".
"You're the funny one. Stenson, do you know why your boss is doing this?" She asked.
"Even if I knew, I wouldn't tell you. Am sorry." He said. "I need to go now." He turned back and left.
Naysa tucked the cards in her pocket and stood looking at Stenson's back. She couldn't understand why Jemmy was doing all this when they just met not even a week ago. The door opened and Marina came out.
"Who is he?" She asked.
"Umm... Remember what I told you? He's his guard." Naysa said.
"Why are they following you? Why is he here?" Marina asked, rolling her eyes to the disappearing figure of Stenson.
"I'll tell you." She said and stepped in. Marina followed, observing Naysa's expressionless face. Ridden looked at them calmly. "Ridden, am sorry I can't go out with you today."
"What?" Both Ridden and Marina we're suprised.
"Why? You have someone else in mind?" Ridden asked in a sore tone. Naysa bit her lower lip and looked away. It was true she had to meet someone else. She knew she had hurt Ridden, but at least they weren't lovers yet.
" I need to check on my uncle." She lied.
"But you've just come back from home today... How comes you need to go back in the evening?" Ridden stood up and walked to her, "tell me, where are you going tonight."
He was too close to her. Naysa stepped back. " I already told you am going home."
"And who is that man?" Ridden saw the logo on the man's suit.
"Ridden, you have no right to Interrogate me ok? I already told you I can't makt it tonight." Naysa walked to her bed and sat down. Ridden looked at her, then back at Marina who shrug her shoulder. Ridden wasn't happy. To him, Naysa had befriend someone else when he had personally waited for her for three and a half years. He walked out without a word.
"But Naysa, Ridden got the wrong impression." Marina sunk on her bed.
"Who cares? He isn't my boyfriend yet, and frankly speaking, if you ask me why he's doing all this, I don't know." She said, then curved her mouth in and O as she looked at the card. Marina snatched the card and looked at it, then looked back at her.
"Wow... The CEO personally invites you out... Sister am too happy for you." Marina said, too happy for her sister.
"Marina you're mad," Naysa said in a calm tone. "What do you think. Maybe he's just concerned. All this rich men are scum. And don't get the wrong idea yet. " Naysa said as she walked to the shower. Marina looked at the card and thought.
" So am here alone tonight again."
Naysa stood in the shower for long. She was thinking about the sudden turn of events. She didn't expect the handsome man she just met a few days ago would take care of her school fees and invite her out for dinner. Ridden was getting too concerned about her and had been hurt when she turned her down. Ridden was soft spoken and handsome also, but couldn't be compared with Jemmy who was like a godvsend down from heaven.
"Am over thinking. This is just..." She pulled the towel and wrapped around herself.
"You'll drop me home Naysa." Marina said immediately she stepped out of the bathroom.
"You've decided on going back? That's too quick. You're going to face your sisters remember?" Naysa said.
"At least that's home and in the long run I'll still go back." Marina said.
Naysa nodded as she got prepared.
