The Killing at District 12

There were mysterious murders taking place at District 12 every last weekend of the month and the serial killer was at large. "Our killer was not just deliberately peeling of the face of his victims. He was also eviscerating their body and purging out their organs, particularly their hearts. It was like the killer wanted to remove everything that made one human." Two people who used to be high school friends and also shared a painful past; both lost a loved one on an incident that happened six years ago decided to join hands to solve this mystery. One was retired a forensic anthropologist who turned a new leaf and chose to become a professor at a medical school While the other was a former law enforcement officer who had decided to be into seminary and was just a step away from becoming an officially ordained priest Will they be able to identify the notorious killer that lurked the shadows of their district??? OUT OF BOREDOM

"Tell me again, Tina, why are we doing this in the first place?"

While Anton was busy processing the information by himself, Mikael, on the other hand, asked Santina.

However, he was not exactly expecting an answer. Rather, he did that to joke around as he asked out loud the same question that was probably running inside Anton's mind as of the moment.

Especially so as this was only the other party's first time to hear the exact nature of their case.

Santina, on the other hand, was quick to get his joke and so she answered him back to humor him.

"Maybe, out of boredom?"

She said as she capped her pen and tossed it on top of notes, together with the rest of her other notes that were all put on her desks.

Mikael chuckled when he heard Santina's response. He slowly spun himself around on his chair before he leaned back to his seat and folded his long-fingered hand together. Perfectly imitating Santina's mannerism.

"Perhaps you are only speaking for yourself coz' I do have an interesting life."

"Yes you do, and so do I. We may think that our lives were interesting, and for the most part, it really does. I teach and you attend Masses from time to time. I conduct my research while you lecture on church and meet your parishioners from time to time. Once in a while, there is a chance to do more and we take it."

Santina replied, but then she looked back at her former student and smiled at her as though the life lesson that she just said was actually meant for him

Anton snickered upon seeing this and nodded his head as a response.

"Certainly Ms. Amorcelli. Our life can't just be interesting. It also has to be meaningful."

"Well, something like that."

Santina said with a smile and when she turned her attention back on Mikael, she saw him staring back at him. The other party had fallen in a daze as he still could not help but wonder how Santina's face still had the same impact on him even now that he was no longer a schoolboy.

"I wished I am as good as you two. But I am no crusader."

Meanwhile, Anton mumbled on his chair. He noticed how the two stared at each other as though they decide to fall in a daze at the same time.

Having no heart to disturb the two, he turned around instead and went on checking the interior of the workplace and his first target was Santina's weird collections that were displayed at one corner of the room.

Little did he knew that his professor actually heard what he said. Santina watched his back as he walked towards her jarred specimens.

"No, my boy, you are just an ordinary man."

She shook her head and whispered softly so that no one could hear her.

Early the next day, Santina's group received a call from Officer Aragon instructing them to go and meet someone. After accumulating evidence over the past months, the other party reckoned that it was due time for their team to finally come to light.

For the first time ever since they conducted the investigation in the dark, this was the only time that they had been told to meet someone from the national investigation team.

So the trio left first thing in the morning without delay as they did not want to leave a tardy impression from whoever they were supposed to meet that day.

Yet as soon as Santina and the others arrived at the meeting place, the other party was already there waiting for them.

It was not that they were late, rather the other party was too early. An early bird indeed. However, as soon as Mikael saw who the other party was, a weird expression clouded his face.

Likewise, recognition also dawned on Santina's face but she kept a nonchalant front. From the current look of it, it seemed that only Anton was not familiar with the other party.

As soon as the man noticed their arrival, he immediately rose to his feet and flashed them with a trained smile.

"I am, please to meet you again two, Mr. Putrivitch, Ms. Amorcelli"

The other party said in a business-like tone and at the same time, he also extended his arm to offer a handshake for each of them one after another.
