THE HUNTRESS AND THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE.

No one had ever thought that zombies would be the ones responsible for the end of the world. It wasn't how they had imagined the world to end. The world had turned to ruins just because of one person. Everyone was fighting for their lives. It was either you fought or you died. Morals had died as no one was there to uphold the law. Ophelia was still locked up in the room with four walks and no window. Every day she thought about how she was going to escape but couldn't remember those thoughts the next day. It was as if she was in a simulation and she had reached a point where she didn't know if it was real or not. She had no idea what was going out there in the world. The world that she longed to see so much. She didn't know that they had destroyed it. What was she? Riley had already lost hope of finding her sister because if she was alive then she would have flu d her already. As they packed their things from the camp they all hoped that they were going to find shelter. They had a heard a government facility that was working on a cure maybe that was the only way for them. They had no idea what was in store for them. Were they going to survive or were they just going to be like the other people who had gone to search for the cure and were turned into lab rats? The big question is was this all real or were they just in a simulation?

15.JUST ANOTHER PATIENT

THIRD POV.

"So I get it that you want approval to go into the next stage of this operation is that right ?", asked Dr. Harry as he stared at Amelia who was seated at the far end of the board table.

"Yes because I feel like us studying her isn't getting us far. She needs to be infected so that we know how her body fights this organism ", she said as she stood up.

"This here on the screen is her brain and this here is the brain of an infected person ", she said as she gestured to the screen whereby there were two pictures that looked like those of a brain or well did.

One of the pictures had shrunk. The so-called brain was just but a small mass and the rest was covered in just black mass.

"Thank you for showing us but you know not everyone is a genius like you ", said Dr. Harry as he laughed and so did the other eight members of the board.

"The frontal lobe of the brain known as the ventromedial hypothalamus is what controls the body and everything that it does ", she said as she pointed to the image of Ophelia's brain.

" It tells us between right and wrong, when to eat and when we're full. Ophelia's does look normal but it's not normal.

It's like the frontal lobe had taken over the brain like Brian is completely covered by the ventromedial hypothalamus. Her brain is magnificent compared to our brains ", she said as she pointed at the image.

" This other image though you can see that the frontal lobe has completely collapsed and this human isn't human more . ", she said as she turned to give her audience a minute to take in what she had just said.

" This virus once it has attacked the body it's like the parasites in it cause reanimation. It makes the body craves human flesh instead of normal human food . ", she said as she stopped to take a glass of water.

" We know that she is patient zero, she is the one who has the virus in her. We know that when she attacks she kills things but what we don't know is ifrits what is in the immune system that is protecting her when she is bitten ", she said as she looked at the members who were looking at her intently.

" We can only get to know that ifoverrtimee bbebbitteredy one of those things then we can study her. That is the only way we are going to be sure your what it is that is fighting this virus in her body ", she said as she sat down.

" What if she doesn't survive? What if we are wrong thinking she is the answer to all our questions, what then ? ", asked one of the board members.

" She will survive this, she is patient zero if she was to be killed she would already be dead by now don't you think ? ", said Dr. Ruffal.

He needed the win too, he needed this to work because he was tired of living behind closed doors Incase something came and hurt him and his kids.

"Am not so sure about this so what are you gonna do lock her up in the cages with them and watch them tear her apart, is that what you're going to do ?", Dr. Harry asked Amelia.

"Don't worry about what am going to do I just need the go-ahead to do it and I will give you the results ", said Amelia.

" I can't decide that all on myself you see I need all of you to vote on this. Before you do though you need to understand that there is no going back with this decision. If can go okay the way we want it or we might just kill someone and we do t kill people intentionally ", he said chuckling.

Amelia looked around the room to see if there was anyone. there who wouldn't give her the go-ahead to continue with the project.

She couldn't complain that she had a bad life. She had a nice house and stayed in a protected community she was doing this for everyone out there who needed the cure, or that is what she told herself.

The real truth was that nothing had ever held her down as this virus had. She wanted to find the cure so badly. She wanted people to know that she a wan had come up with the cure for the zombie apocalypse.

Every time she tried something new she just hit a dead end and she was tired of trying new things so maybe all she needed was to deliver the bait directly to the attacker and see what whawhatatwould happen from there.

She knew that Ophelia would survive it m She had already been a strong kid who had good immunity. She had made sure of that maybe before for this particular reason but was glad it came to help.

She had always been a sweet kid but she hadn't stayed around that long to watch her grow into the woman that she had become.

Out of all the scenarios she had thought of on how she would ever meet up with her, her being a lab rat had never been one of them.

It was a shame that if she couldn't make it through this stage she would never know who her real mother was. Amalia assumed that she probably didn't care about her though.

She had hoped that a certain part of her would feel guilty about all the things she was doing to her but she never felt it. There was no guilt at all.

To her, it just worked so if it worked then maybe she would have come up. with. the cure that everyone had been looking for and if it didn't work it was just another one of her patients who had died.

She was never meant to be a mother and she had known that the moment she had discovered she was pregnant.

Ophelia had been better off with whoever had raised her.
