Why the food hall specifically? There was two reasons why Honorary chose the place.
The first was due to the space, it allowed him to fight unhindered. However this also went for his opponent. Mainly it was for the second reason. Larger rooms tended to be less structurally stable. The wooden beams holding the roof together were creaking with effort. The walls were cracked and barely standing.
With a little extra damage in specific places the whole room would collapse, or maybe a single large attack. Myths Unproven's attack was the cause. The destructive lightning damaged the walls and roof enough to cause them to collapse inward.
Honorary was confident in surviving the collapse. His Claymore was in a position to assist in blocking any large chunks. With his strength he wouldn't have any problem lifting the rubble either. Myths Unproven looked up and his eyes widened. Suddenly a loud crash sounded and dust rose, covering the scene.
Honorary's HP dropped by a fourth. More than he expected but still bearable. He assumed Myths Unproven would be in a worse shape. Due to Pugilists having lighter armor and less HP. He pushed the rubble aside and stood. Rays of sunlight covering the scene. Dust calming and returning to the ground.
He turned and a sight shook him slightly. The damage to the Orphanage was far greater than anticipated. A third of the building turned to rubble. The rest of it barely hanging on. As he searched the carnage he found that he could not see Myths Unproven anywhere. In fact they should be close to him, considering they were next to each other during the building's collapse.
Rumble~~
He looked up, black clouds forming above the Orphanage. Upon closer inspection the clouds were-
Crack-!
A thunderbolt cracked down onto a part of the rumble. An explosion of lightning spreading out. Honorary took some mild damage from the explosion. But his curiosity overwhelmed his caution. Myths Unproven stood, blood covered his body. Yet despite his injured look lightning crackled viciously around him. His pole creating arcs.
Myths Unproven inspected his palm, a look of slight annoyance on his face. His gaze turned to Honorary. Honorary held up his Claymore cautiously. Myths Unproven casually swung his pole, large arcs of lightning crackled towards Honorary like a wave of water.
Honorary quickly executed a Skill in hopes to disperse the attack, or perhaps clash with it. But it proved fruitless. His own attack was dispersed instead. The wave of lightning crashed into him and rapidly drained his HP. The attack lasted only for two seconds, but he lost around 20% of his HP!
He couldn't believe someone would use a Berserk Skill this early! Such a trump card should be use for later rounds! Now he was forced to use his own!
He stabbed his Claymore into the ground and shouted, "[Cataclysm]!"
Violent red energy burst around him. A portal made of a deep dark red enveloped him. Changing his appearance. His normal armor was nowhere to be seen. Instead it was replaced by long, flowing robes colored blood red. A mask covered the upper half of his face. The mask was black, designed to look like the face of a boar. At least the upper half of one. Tusks protruded out of it, along with its snout. Red eyes glowing brightly.
He gripped his Claymore, red patters now spiraling down it. Lifting it with one hand he placed it on his shoulder, "You started this!"
He crouched slightly, red energy rippling around his feet. He suddenly launched forward and upwards. Swinging the Claymore midair a wave of red energy swarmed towards Myths Unproven. A wave of lightning struck in response. The two energies equal in strength. With a short conflict they exploded into a mist.
He gripped his Claymore with both his hands and rotated mid air. Following the momentum he slammed down onto Myths Unproven. A pole clashing with his attack. Red energy and blue lightning burst, fizzling out into the rubble. Honorary flipped away and landed, energy burst around his feet making him launch forward again.
He swung forward horizontally. Myths Unproven responded by using his pole to slam onto the top of the Claymore, redirecting towards the ground. With a light jump he dodged the blow and landed onto the Claymore. With a rapid spin of his pole he slammed the butt-end of it onto Honorary's throat.
Honorary took a step back from the blow, but a red flash of energy occurred and stopped his recoil. He pulled his Claymore with great force, making Myths Unproven lose their footing. With a forceful move forward he stabbed Myths Unproven in the gut.
Myths Unproven's figure flickered and turned to lightning. Honorary's eyes widened slightly in surprise, 'It was a fake-?!'
Myths Unproven descended from above. Their pole stuck into the ground to use as balance. He then swiftly delivered two kicks. Honorary received the kicks but did not falter! Instead he repositioned his feet and swung his Claymore towards Myths Unproven! A deep gash formed in Myths Unproven's side. The blow he received sent him back a little, creating some distance.
Honorary's breathing turned labored, his fatigue was immense. His Berserk Skill would rapidly sap at his energy. He had to end this now! Myths Unproven grit his teeth. He was incredibly low on HP, the blow he just received proved far more devastating than he originally imagined. He needed to end this quickly!
The two charged towards each other. Blue lightning and red energy crashing into each other. Honorary was in silhouette of a crimson boar appeared, charging with his footsteps. A similar silhouette was formed around Myths Unproven. Except blue and that of a tiger.
They clashed, an explosion of energy destroying the rest of the Orphanage. The roar of a tiger and blood curling squeal of a boar sounded. The crowd held their breath as they watched in anticipation, who had won the clash?!
Myths Unproven kneeled and coughed blood. His body shaking.
Honorary watched his figure solemnly, "It was a good match. . . !"
"Yeah."
Honorary slowly turned to light, leaving only Myths Unproven in the Arena.
The crowd cheered wildly. It was a cinematic finish! They watched that in real time!
John was quick, "With a final clash Myths Unproven has won the match!"
"Definitely a showy battle, but I'm sure no one is complaining! What a brilliant way to finish off the day!"
~ ~ ~
Akiol yawned, "Three matches a day? Seems a little short."
Reverence chuckled, "I'm sure many of these people are itching to get right into the game. Others wanting to try it."
"So even then it's still some advertisement."
"Isn't everything one these days?"
Akiol laughed faintly, "I'll be taking my leave. It was fun chatting."
Reverence nodded in response.
The party soon left, going to their respective hotels provided for free. Reverence watched them exit the door, then that door click closed.
Reverence stared outside the window, "James. . . you have zero experience with true combat. Your past is basic, besides the issue you had with that company. So how is it you are so skilled at combat? What exactly is your secret?"
He rolled his shoulders, the sound of popping following the movement. A hint of wariness flashed across his face. With a wry smile he joked, "I'm getting too old for this."
. . .
Akiol whistled, "This is some room!"
The room they were given wasn't a room, but a whole condo! The whole thing screamed luxury, the cleanliness made it seem like the room was sparkling. Towards their left there was a hallway leading to six doors. Each door was their own separate room, three on each side.
Wrock plopped onto a couch, "I wasn't expecting such treatment."
Kan'na inspected a counter, it was so shiny it seemed to show her reflection, "I'm surely not complaining."
Jarvis walked to a room, "I'm claiming this one."
He then promptly shut the door and went to sleep. He was the most exhausted due to him staying up later in-game the day before.
Akiol lifted a remote and turned on a TV.
A news channel spoke, "A World's Legacy gains even more popularity due to the Professional Competition! Many are worried on what this could mean for the future of gaming."
Akiol switched the channel, he wasn't interested.
"A large criminal organization named Withered Oaths has been brought under justice. After the incident six years ago they have been hidden in the shadows. But just twelve hours ago the organization has just fully been arrested. The leader dead, presumed to be betrayed."
Akiol switched the channel again.
The TV flickered and a picture of a sun setting over the horizon appeared. The picture glitched out and the words: What is it's origin? Appeared.
Akiol's eyes narrowed at the sight. Wrock joked, "How menacing."
The picture flickered and returned to some random comedy show. A voice saying, "Cheese? I might as well die there!"
The audience laughed, clearly a part of the joke was missed by Akiol.
He placed the remote down, "I'm gonna go rest."
Wrock nodded with a yawn, "Sleep well!"
He entered a room and quickly inspected it. Upon seeing nothing out of the ordinary he laid onto the bed and fell asleep.
