For the next few days, Lin Feng stayed with the Kong family's father and daughter telling Kong Qiulan various stories such as I Shall Seal the H*avens or D*uluo Dalu. In the mornings he would tell her stories, while at night he would practice his movement skill and cultivation.
Kong Qiulan watched him practice each night without letting her eyes off him. Eventually came the day when Lin Feng needed to leave and participate in the Flying Tiger Sects' disciple recruitment event that happened once every three years.
If he missed it this time, he would have no more chances since he was already nearing nineteen with the maximum age being twenty years old. That night, Lin Feng told Kong Qiulan one final story as he prepared to leave.
Kong Chen didn't say anything as he sighed from afar while Kong Qiulan who had been nurtured back to full health clearly showing signs of sadness. Practicing for the final time for the father and daughter duo to watch, Lin Feng closed his eyes as he could feel that he had mastered the Basic Movement technique.
By the time he opened his eyes, Kong Chen was nowhere to be seen while Kong Qiulan was fast asleep in her bed. Slowly walking inside the small home that he had stayed for the past few days, Lin Feng lamented on his time spent with the father and daughter duo.
Writing a note, Lin Feng left it on the table by Kong Qiulan's bedside as he turned into a blurred figure and disappeared from the warm and loving home.
Whoosh!
Whoosh!
Not far from the Kong family's house, two familiar figures could be seen waiting. When Lin Feng arrived, he said, "Let's go"
"Sure you won't miss them?" one of the figures asked him. "I'm sure I will, it was a great experience and very warm". Lin Feng replied.
"It'll be like that when we have kids…" the figure said softly. "What was that Yating?" Lin Feng asked since he couldn't hear clearly.
Ling Yating blushed and replied, "Nothing, let's return to the inn". Lin Feng nodded as the three of them turned into blurry figures and disappeared completely from Kong Chen's place.
Arriving at the inn, the three of them headed to their room as Lin Feng closed the door before turning around and said, "Now… how should we deal with this situation? There's only one bed, so I guess I'm sleeping on the floor"
"No, you are sleeping on the bed" Ling Yating replied. "Huh? No! My pride as a male will not allow a woman to sleep on the floor!" Lin Feng retorted.
"Who said I was sleeping on the floor?" Ling Yating smiled. "Huh? Then you're saying we will both sleep on the bed?" Lin Feng asked. "Yea, is there a problem?" she replied as Lin Feng immediately shouted, "No! No problem ma'am!"
"Wait, but where will Yazhu sleep then?" Lin Feng suddenly thought and asked. "Why on the bed of course?" Ling Yating replied. He stared at the two women who both nodded as he looked at the bed that seemed to be able to fit three people as if the bed was made specifically for him.
"The hell? How am I gonna sleep with two beauties by my side? Aren't they scared I might become a big bad wolf?" Lin Feng thought. "When did you two become so close?" Lin Feng asked only to be greeted with mutual silence.
Giving up, Lin Feng jumped on the bed and closed his eyes while ignoring the two women as he tried his best to sleep as fast as he could. "Please fall asleep" he thought.
Suddenly, he felt movement on the bed both on his left side and right side. Pretending as though he didn't notice it, he continued attempting to sleep. He could feel the two figures by his side moving about slowly on the bed and even touching him in some places.
"Little brother, please don't react, stay down." he prayed continuously as he continued pretending to sleep. "Hehe, this is funny." Ling Yating whispered as Xia Yazhu nodded. Lin Feng could only silently pray that his little brother wouldn't react and for himself to have a peaceful night.
The next morning, Lin Feng appeared like a zombie and was busy all night doing you know what. His face looked drained and his eyes had dark circles underneath. "Gah, I couldn't get a wink of sleep last night! One of these days I will pay them back! But for now, haha let's get stronger before I even think about it" he thought.
Leaving his room after combing his long hair, Lin Feng saw Ling Yating and Xia Yazhu waiting for him at the same table they were sitting at when they first arrived at the inn. Lin Feng noticed that the inn was just as busy as the first day he arrived, in fact, there seemed to be even more people since the Flying Tiger Sect's disciple recruitment event was about to start.
After breakfast, Lin Feng's group headed for the venue for the disciple selection. The line ahead of them was impressively long starting from the entrance of the venue all the way to the market.
Lining up, Lin Feng's group waited patiently without talking. Many teens could be seen together with their parents in hopes to be able to join the Flying Tiger Sect. Though the line was long, it didn't take more than two hours before the trio could enter the venue.
After waiting for another two hours, all the children who came along with their parents had entered the venue. Inside the venue, all participants are given a token with a number on them.
When all the participants all lined up below a stage, a middle-aged man walked up to the podium on the stage and spoke, "Welcome parents their children, today we of the Flying Tiger Sect will be recruiting disciples which could be any of you here! Are you young ones prepared!" he shouted.
"Yea!!!!" the crowd screamed back. "Damn, so childish." Lin Feng thought as he listened to the man continue his speech.
"Now then, let me explain how we will be testing each of you here today. Beside me is a stone tablet that will automatically record a name along with their level of talent which will be recorded in real-time. Naturally, the rankings will change as more and more people test themselves."
"The way in which we measure your talent is simple, rather than going through battles or accepting students based on cultivation base, we will test their future potential through a treasure called the Potential Stone."
"Just by placing your hand on the stone, the stone will start glowing with a different color. It can be any color such as red, blue, or green you name it. Red is the lowest level of talent while Gold is the highest level! To be accepted into the Flying Tiger Sect, you must at least get Red."
"The order starts from Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Pink, Black, and finally Gold. Just to let you know, there has never been a person who has been tested and to have the Blue level of talent in the entire history of this kingdom! So do not feel bad if you have achieved the minimum, in fact, the Red level talent alone should be something to be proud of as not many are even born with such talent!" the middle-aged man said with passion.
"Xiao Ming, according to your estimation, what color would my talent be?" Lin Feng asked.
[Replying to Host, you will find out when you test it for yourself]
"..."
"F*ck! Xiao Ming, you are useless!" Lin Feng screamed internally.
"Negative, the Host is currently weaker than an ant, tell me that when you have at least reached the Life and Death stage." Xiao Ming replied in a monotone voice.
"D*mn! Xiao Ming, is there a way for you to change your tone or voice? It's tiring listening to a robot all the time" Lin Feng asked.
[Replying to Host, you can get voices and tone changes from the Gacha]
"Oh, I see. It's good to know that's possible, though I did name you Xiao Ming would it be weird if you suddenly had a female voice?" Lin Feng replied.
[That is your own problem so deal with it]
"Alright fine…" Lin Feng replied.
"Now then, in the order of your tokens, we will begin the testing!" the middle-aged man said to the crowd as they cheered while he stepped aside and stood next to the Potential Stone. A young woman with decent looks then took his place on the podium to call up the first batch of participants.
Lin Feng looked at his own token and saw the number two hundred and eighty-seventh while Ling Yating and Xia Yazhu's are two hundred and eight eighth and two hundred and eighty-ninth respectively. The first batch consisted of the first fifty meaning it would be a while before his turn.
The very first person went up on stage as his number was called out. The owner of the first token was a young man around sixteen years old, he looked extremely nervous as he walked up on the stage and stood in front of the Potential Stone.
"That's my boy!" a middle-aged man shouted in the crowd. Hearing his old man shouting in the crowd, the young man became even more nervous as his entire body was shaking. "Don't be nervous now." the man standing next to him encouraged.
The young man nodded as he closed his eyes and took a very deep breath before opening them again and placed his hand on top of the Potential Stone.
After a few seconds, the Potential Stone lit up entirely in orange signifying that the young man has Orange level talent. "Haha, congratulations young man" the middle-aged man congratulated.
Seeing that he passed the test, the young man sighed with relief as he received a token in the shape of a tiger head as he jumped off the stage.
"Hahaha! I knew it, my boy passed! I told you so didn't I?!" the young man's father shouted again from the crowd. "Number one has passed with Orange level talent, next!" the lady standing behind the podium said.
Seeing that it was their turn, the next person got up the stage and stood in front of the Potential Stone. That person is tall standing at roughly one hundred and ninety centimeters tall while having huge muscles around his entire body. Looking extremely confident in himself, he placed his hand on the Potential Stone.
"..."
"..."
Even after ten seconds had gone by, the Potential Stone didn't glow. "Number two has failed, next!" the lady said as the muscular man looked as though his soul had left his body as he jumped off the stage.
Just like that, the first batch went by with five people passing, and only the very first person had Orange level talent while the other four had Red level.
The second batch had better results with two being at the Orange level while two were in the Red Level. The third batch had no one passing the test while the fourth had one with Yellow level talent and even two Orange level talents. This batch was by far the best batch as the rankings instantly shifted on the tablet.
The fourth batch had similar results to the first batch with only one having Orange Level talent while three had Red level talent. The same could be said for the fifth batch and then came Lin Feng's batch being the sixth.
The person before him is a young woman who could be said to be quite beautiful and around seventeen years old. When her number was called, she got up on stage and placed her hand on the Potential Stone.
Zing!
Zing!
"Whaooooo!!!!" the crowd shouted and became rowdy. Even the examiners themselves couldn't believe it when they saw her results. A bright shining green light shone from the Potential Stone which meant she had Green level Talent!
This meant that her talent is amongst the very top in the entire kingdom!! Once she joins the sect, they will provide her with the most resources in order to aid her growth.
According to Lin Feng's estimates, those with Green level talent would at least become a Heavenly Yuan stage expert and may even reach the Holy Fire or even Holy Lightning stage!
"Number two hundred and eighty-six has passed with Green level talent!!" the examiner lady said with a clear bias in her tone. "Next!" she said as it finally came to Lin Feng's turn to test his talents.
Ever since he had arrived in the Tiandi Continent, though he may not have been there for long, he thought that his talent couldn't be too bad. Though he wasn't sure how talented he was exactly, he knew that even if he didn't even have Red level talent, his Goldfinger would help him to reach the top anyway.
Unknownst to him, others have taken days, weeks or even months to be able to sense a slither of Qi in the heaven and earth while he had not only sensed Qi, but had also entered the Early Purification stage the very first day he came to this unknown world!
