Chapter 5

As Ariel and Jero walked home from school, Ariel confided in her best friend. "Jero, help me, I think I have a crush on an alien", she said in distress. 

  "You, yo-you like Chad? ", Jero said incredulously. Ariel reluctantly nodded and Jero burst into laughter. Ariel pouted and wanted to smack his head if not that he dodged it quick. "Is that why you were so hard on him? ", he asked. 

  "No, I'm hard on him because he's an alien that we know absolutely nothing about", she said. Jero scoffed ,"Tell me all that when you become Mrs Greene okay", he said and this time Ariel successfully smacked his head.

   He felt like crying. Ariel may had looked dainty and small but she could hit really well. "I absolutely will not marry him, but for real Jero, what should I do? ", she cried. Jero smirked despite the pain and teased her. "Hehe, well I think you should tell him because I think he likes you so-","so what you're saying now is that I should avoid him like the plague and I should try everything in my power to convince myself that he's dangerous, evil and despicable", she interrupted him. "WAIT, WHAT?, that's not what... ", he was cut off again. 

   "Thanks Jero, that's why you're my best friend, you give amazing advice", she said as she hugged him and ran into her house. "THAT'S NOT WHAT I SAID,..., YOU'RE WELCOME", he shouted. 

Chad and Jero hanged out a couple of times and had easily become friends much to Ariel's annoyance. "You're kinda an idiot Jero", she said. "Why? ",he asked. 

  "I'm trying to get over my crush on him and that's when you remember that he's coming to join us for dinner at your house huh", she said with her hands on her hips and Jero knew he was in trouble. 

   "Fine, I'm sorry, but I haven't invited him yet... I could though if you want." he said. 

Ariel growled," okay okay, I'm bringing him with us so you can see that he's a great guy and that he's not dangerous or evil or despicable," Jero said fearfully. 

   Ariel frowned and rolled her eyes ,"I'm not saying you shouldn't be friends with him, I'm just saying that you should keep him away from me", she said. 

   "But whhhy", Jero whined. "Because he followed me the other day and ended up walking home with me", she said.

   "Awwn, now that's true love", Jero said and Ariel smacked his shoulder. "Let's just eat before your sister comes back to devour it all", she said exasperatedly. 

"Hey bro, so when are you going back to Saturn", Jero asked. "I'm going back... Oh I don't know,  I do have an uncle in Uranus though, if I can get word to him then I can jet out of earth", Chad said. 

   "Oh, ...hey uh, what do you think of Ariel? ", he asked. Chad shrugged ,"She's cool,  I think oh and beautiful by the way", Chad said. Jero nodded like a wise old man. "So, do you like her? ", Jero asked.

   "I guess but I don't think she likes me that much", Chad chuckled. Jero wasnt satisfied. "No,  like do you like her like her,  like have a huge irredeemable crush on her like her? ", Jero asked again. 

   Chad grimaced ,"Nope,  she's too,  I dunno,  boyish?,  I need a girl that can depend on me and I really need to be the man in the relationship", Chad said.

   "But you kissed her? ", Jero asked. "Yeah on the cheek,  don't the French do that as a greeting here on earth? ", Chad said. Jero frowned, "You're a jerk", Jero said. Chad put his hand on his perfectly brushed hair. "Yeah, a handsome jerk", he said. 

    Jero took comfort in the fact that Ariel didn't even want to like him. "So what kind of girl fits the description you just gave me? ", Jero asked curiously.

   "Honestly, a girl like Cindy,  she's beautiful, calm,  and overly girly", Chad said. "Yeah and hopelessly stupid too", Jero added under his breath.

  Jero rolled his eyes. "Thanks for hanging out with me man, I really appreciate it", Chad said and started to leave.

   "Wait Chad I wanted to ask, where exactly are you staying now? ", Jero asked. Chad smirked ," The president of this country's villa, I'm a guardian after all", Chad said. 

   "What's a guardian? ", Jero asked. Chad sighed and sat down. "You may not know this", he started," but every planet has something called a life crystal, so there's one specific person in charge of keeping the crystal safe and growing. It's a supernatural kind of crystal that's more than 25 feet tall at the core of each planet", he paused to breathe. 

    "The specific person in charge of Saturn's life crystal is moi[1], so I'm one of the most important people in Saturn ", he ended. 

    Jero nodded solemnly "But wait, why does the crystal need to grow? ", Jero asked. "So as to make the planet better I guess, my job is also to protect it because if a non-guardian touches it, the thing will explode and the planet'll blow up with it,... That what happened to Jeminai ", he said. 

     Jero was confused ,"Who? ", he asked. "Exactly my point, Jeminai used to be a planet until the guardian slacked and poof bye bye Jeminai", Chad said. 

    "But since you're here, someone can make Saturn go poof", Jero said worriedly. "Don't worry, I have a piece of the crystal with me so defending this one is defending the real deal ", Chad said and started to leave. 

    Jero smirked and walked out with Chad.
