Chapter 4: Skills

The monster growled in frustration as it intensely glared at her. Liza only stood where she stand, Liza felt conflicted deep inside of her. Part of Liza screamed to run away to safety, however the another part of her was roaring her to keep fighting the ugly beast. How inconvenient of Liza to be experience this right in the middle what is no doubt a life-threatening situation.

'Come on move! Move already! Do something! If I don't move right now, I will die! Like her...'

Memories soon flashed in Liza's mind. Memories of the beautiful woman she saw before, there weren't much memories of the woman. But despite it, Liza treasure those memories like if they were priceless gems. It also gave Liza a reason to stand up against the fowl monster in front of her. She didn't cared who this bastard was nor did she wanted to. All patience and rationality left her, only leaving anger and pure rage.

Liza spat at that monster's feet, enraging it even more. She didn't care though, pulling off a cocky ass smirk. Value for life has lift window, Liza just simply didn't cared. She'd died before, how was this any different.

Her eyes had a quick blink as bright transparent blue screen popped up before her, making a light bell sound ringing in her ears. Text was written on the screen, text wrote in bold letters saying:

"GAIN SKILL FEAR RESISTANCE LV 1"

Liza only kept blankly staring in confusion, before noticing the monster running towards her. Her body moving on it's own as Liza easily dodged the monster's assault. The bell rung again as the blue screen popped up again as well.

"GAIN SKILL DODGE LV 1"

Liza knot her brows together in annoyance as the screen kept blocking her view of what's in front of her.

'What is this? Some kind of video game screen? Am I in some kind of isekai anime or something?'

As that thought passed through Liza's mind, she felt the annoyance fueling her rage as kicked upright in front of her, even though she could properly see cause of the screen flashing in her face. As soon the screen disappeared, Liza could finally see where see her kick hit. Liza face grew red as she immediately stepped away, having another screen popping up in her face.

"DODGE LV 2"

"GAIN SKILL CRITICAL KICK LV 1"

Liza face grew even redder as she saw those last texts. The monster soon crouched onto it's knees, falling to it's side with an extremely pale face. As the the monster used it's hands to cover where Liza 'critically' kicked. Liza couldn't believe how she could even hit the monster 'there' while it's size towers over her own. Maybe if the monster didn't squatted while it attacked Liza, it could've avoided its unfortunate fate. Liza covered her mouth, before she could burst in laughter.

Soon Liza couldn't hold it in anymore, the laugh leaving her throat was ugly and unsatisfied. However, she didn't cared. All Liza cared about was the delightful pain curling up inside deep in her stomach. Afterwards the Liza was slightly alarmed by another 'pop up'.

"GAIN SKILL EVIL LAUGHTER LV 1"

Liza quieten down a little before she observes her the screen carefully. She lifted her palm while trying to interact with the screen. So far, her hand would slip right through it. Until Liza finger tip landed upon the word 'Evil Laughter' and the text on the screen immediately changed. The new set of text wrote:

"EVIL LAUGHTER"

"While laughing the you can temporarily intimidate others who hear within five meters of your surroundings."

Liza crook her head to the side as she slowly tries to understands of this blue screen and these 'skills' she being gaining so far. Then thought finally shot through her mind. Evil Laughter effects anyone around five meters of Liza, she stare across the monster still laying on the floor. The monster was only laying three meters of where Liza was standing, meaning the monster is most probably in the effect of her Evil Laughter skill. Liza walks up to the monster carefully, until she can fully identify the monster's condition.

When she did, she soon identified the monster wasn't 'dead' just simply unconscious. Standing there blankly, Liza was deciding if she should kill the monster or not. Part of her said to definitely kill the monster right now when the moment is just right and revenge the woman, but another part of Liza pity the poor monster after kicking it in the 'you know what' and accidentally using her Evil Laughter to scare it to the point the monster got unconscious.

After a minute of hard thinking, Liza decided to spare the monster. When did, another pop up appeared.

"GAIN SKILL MERCY LV 1"

Liza sighed after taping her finger on the word 'Mercy' as she readied the description.

"MERCY"

"Whenever you spare or aid a foe, pray or others weaker than you, they will feel gratitude and respect or guilty and fear."

Liza lifted her brow lazily in disbelief. Her, getting gratitude? The time she get anything but such is the time when universe has finally destroyed to a million pieces. The reason why she'd believe this was because in her previous life. No matter what she did, no matter the amount of effort. Liza was never given even a thread of gratitude in entire life. Only Thomas ever showed gratitude towards Liza.

And even if she was in another world, there was nothing that could've convince her otherwise... or so she thought.
