Chapter 22: Running into Death

"Will we die?" Scarlett asked her master.

"Our odds are around fifty fifty," Liza responded as she changes into her Salamander Mode before crawling her way into position.

"What does that mean?" Asked Red.

"It means this whole thing could end up really good or really badly," Scarlett explained.

"I see... I like those odds!" Red said excitedly, while he grin widely.

"And 'that' is why you're Master's son," Scarlett mumbled before sighed.

Soon Scarlett and Red went and followed their master's lead, and then they found the Salamander immediately rushed after them.

"Wow! Master was right! The Salamander started chasing right after we got closer!" Red watch while he rode on Scarlett's shoulder in amazement.

"Of course it did! The Salamander has a skill called Heat Sense. While using it, the Salamander can tell the difference between us and the temperature all around the area," Scarlett explained while she ran at top speed she could.

"Really?! That's incredible! You're so wise Scarlett! Truly amazing!" Red praises Scarlett, before spat poison at the Salamander.

Scarlett felt the heat crawling up her face, as she began to run faster but the Salamander is still catching up.

"SPRINT LV 10"

"SPRINT LV 10 HAS TURNED INTO OUTRUNNING LV 1"

"GAIN EXTRA SKILL SPEED ATTACK"

'Did I leveled up? That was fast, it took me for days to level up my sprint from level eight to level nine. I wonder what's Speed Attack?' After thinking that, Scarlett then realizes she wasn't running on the ground anymore.

"Scarlett! Your running on the wall!" Red yelled in amazement.

Scarlett turned herself around to see the Salamander still chased after them but not close behind as before. Too close for comfort, in Scarlett's perspective. This cat and mouse game continues until Scarlett heard a click sound before hearing a voice echoing in her mind.

'Scarlett! Are you there?'

"Master? Is that you?"

'Yeah, it's me. How you two holding up?'

"We're fine. In fact, Red has been enjoying himself the entire time,"

'Is that right? That's a relief,'

"So Master, Is that Secret Weapon ready yet? I'm assuming that's the reason why you called me,"

'You know me too well. I'll send you signal very soon. When I do, I want you two to lure Lizard Breath to my location. Got it?'

"Understood!" Scarlett heard another click sound, ending the conversation there.

After few more minutes later, Scarlett saw a beam of light being shot upwards.

'That must be Master, don't know anything else that can make such a light show,' Scarlett giggled to herself as she quickly turned her direction toward the bright light.

"Are we going to Master?" Red asked, gazing at the pillar of light.

"Sure are! It's going to be a bumpy ride when we get there though, so hold on tight!" Scarlett ordered as she started to speed up.

"Understood!" Red cheered, after he spat another shot of poison at the Salamander before he gripped onto Scarlett tightly.

Scarlett stormed fearlessly as she ran way to her master's side, when she managed to spot her master. Scarlett saw her master holding an enormous shinning sphere above his head.

"Scarlett! Over here! Hide behind me! Quick!" Liza shouted, and with that Scarlett rushed behind her master as told.

The Salamander appeared out from the corner and continued to change forward. Liza could feel the sweat dripped down her face as she takes a quick breath before swung her arms down at Salamander.

"By source of my power I ordered thee, decipher the laws of nature and destroy my target with a blinding light. OBLITERATION!!!" Liza voice twisted and curled into something unrecognizable.

A bright blinded Scarlett and Red's eyes, as the Salamander started to slowly wither away into nothing but dust and sand. The sound and impact of the blast shook the entire labyrinth to it's very core.

The echoes of the calamity were even heard across outside the labyrinth reaching the outskirts of the kingdom of Ring.
