ONE WEEK AGO
Bang! Bang! Bang!
“Mia!”
The man rushed forward to protect her, but it was too late. Mia’s body went limp before falling on the floor.
Her eyes were still open wide in horror. Blood gushed out of her mouth as she struggled to breathe.
Her blurry gaze falls on a familiar face in front of her.
“Kay...den...” Mia struggled to let the words out of her mouth.
“Shh...it’s okay...I’ll take you to the hospital...” Kayden hugged her body, ready to lift her.
“No...”
Kayden stopped as his eyes teared. He looked at the dying woman in his arms with a pained heart.
“I..I..sorry...” Mia’s eyes went blurry with tears.
“No...no...baby...I’m sorry...” Kayden wiped her tears.
Mia lifted her hands when she saw his tears. She wants to wipes it up. Her cold palm landed on his face for a second before it abruptly falls.
Kayden brought Mia’s body into his embrace as he cried.
He looked up and looked at the person who had her gun clenched tightly between her hands with hatred.
This scene causes a huge uproar from the crowds of people in the shopping mall.
Some of them ran away in fear, and some stayed and watched in the distance.
Some of the people are taking their phones out to record the scene and make it live.
Some made a call to the police.
When the police arrived, they immediately ushered the remaining people to leave the place.
Leaving a few persons behind.
“Why?” Kayden asked as he cradled Mia’s body in his arms.
However, the person didn’t answer him at all.
She only looks down at the two people on the floor with a blank expression before turning around.
“You’re going to regret this!” Kayden shouted as he gritted his teeth in anger and grief.
He watched the woman who shot Mia walk away—ignoring his words, the hatred in his voice and eyes.
“What are you guys doing?! She shot my fiance! Catch her!” Kayden shot a look towards the police officers nearby.
Two police officers walk towards him, indifferently.
“We’re sorry for your loss, Mr Ilmanto. But, this is an order from the higher-ups. Clearing the place up is all we can do for you.”
“Are you kidding me?! Can’t you see that she’s holding a gun? She killed my fiance!” Kayden roared.
“We’re very sorry, Mr Ilmanto.” the policeman said before they walk away.
Kayden shouted at the top of his lungs.
Of course, he knew about the so-called-higher ups.
The bad guys rule the country.
Even if someone kills a person regardless of any reason, the police can’t do anything at all.
After all, the higher-ups are covering for them.
Their appearance was just a fake safety for the people in the country.

“Keith!”
Keith heard a couple of footsteps outside his door.
“Keith! Open up!” he heard them knocking on his door.
Keith ignores the voice and looks around him. Dozens of beer can and bottles of vodka surrounded him.
“Keith-”
“Scram!” Keith throws the bottle in his hand towards the door.
It landed perfectly on the door with a loud crash.
The men behind the door went silent when they heard the noise.
He leaned forward and grabbed another bottle of vodka on his table.
“It’s important! It’s about Vale!”
Keith stiffened.
He stared at the bottle on his hand, pursing his lips.
A few minutes after, Keith walked out of his door, crossing his arms.
Caleb and Dylan looked at Keith as if they were looking at a strange guy in the street.
His face was haggard. His hair had grown longer, and he also had grown a beard. His clothes were in knots, and some parts of it were wet. Perhaps, stained with alcohol.
It looks like he hasn’t gotten any showers in months.
Furthermore, the pungent smell of alcohol on his body can make a person retch for a whole day.
“What is it?” he asked with a hoarse voice.
Caleb took out his phone and gave it to him.
They watch his face gradually turned from a blank look to a look of shock and disbelief.
“When did this happen?” he asked, giving Caleb his phones back.
“Just now. The news had spread to the whole country.” Dylan replied.
“And?” Keith’s eyebrows furrowed.
Caleb and Dylan exchanged a glance, hesitating.
“She’s being hunted with a bounty on her head.”
Keith took a sharp intake of breath.
“Who did she kill and why?” he was growing nervous.
“Vale...she...killed Mia Anderson. Kayden Ilmanto’s fiance. She was shot three times and lost a lot of blood. It was rumoured that they were arguing before Vale shot her...”
Keith rubbed his forehead in distress. Vale never liked violence, and she also was not keen on being on the news.
She didn’t want anyone to know about her dark part of life.
Then, why?
Why did she act up today?
“Keith...” Dylan swallowed his saliva.
Keith lifted his face, “What?”
“She doesn’t look like the person we know at all. She...looks like a living dead person...There was no emotion in her eyes...”
Keith felt a tugged in his heart. It was so painful that he wants to take his heart out of his own body.
Caleb and Dylan looked at each other when they saw the ugly look on his face.
Their heart is paining for him. But, they could only give him a look of sympathy.
“Keep me updated.” Keith said before he closed the door.
He saw the looks on her face. She was still as beautiful as ever. But, her face was pale, and there were no smiles in her eyes or her mouth.
Nothing. Nada.
She looks blank.
Lost.
Keith huffed before deciding to clean his room.
It’s as if he got injected by cure.
He looks like someone who decided to start a new chapter of life.
After cleaning his room, he cut his hair, shave his beards and take a long-needed shower.
He stepped out of his room and walked to the kitchen.
After days of locking himself in his room, he felt that he hadn’t eaten for ages.
