Chapter 47: Dream

Ain's eyes shudder at that. 'The Dream Mage, an ancient mage, if the Human Emperor was the dream of every warrior. The Dream Mage was the dream of every Mage.'

His power isn't very clear, he was from ancient times, and even then, apparently, he had no history till he became a Legendary Wizard at the age of 120. He then hid his existence once again, but even then he never really did anything too big.

Except before he was 500 years old, suddenly every human ruler in the world recognized him as their superior… so he just took the world in his palm. Though the official records of this are quite blurry on how everything happened. 

Alex though… he has some 'inside' knowledge in this. He knows things about the Dream Mage that would make people's minds curl. The Mage wasn't your average person, he didn't care if he was recognized or not… and the man wasn't even dead, even after more than ten thousand years since his assumed time of birth. He was born thousands of years before the Human Emperor.

In the forests close to the Magic Academy, a luxurious carriage was being dragged by deers, the carriage itself was hovering off the ground. It also had the sigil of a Phoenix in it.

BOOOM!!!

A giant ice spike appears from the sky and goes towards the carriage. That is when an old man appears and points his finger at the ice while golden energy gathers at the tip of his finger.

<Heaven Piercing True Sword>

BOOOM!!!

The giant ice spike is easily destroyed. The old man has a dignified appearance as he sees this.

He then looks at a certain place and calls out. "You can show yourselves now. You have already been found out."

That is when Ain and Alex show up with nervous smiles on their faces.

The old man frowns as he sees the young children. "You do know that I am a man of the Xuan Stage Warrior, little worms like you couldn't see mountain Tai even when in front of you."

Alex looks at this with a dull look in his eyes. 'Xuan Stage… this is why everyone hates the Wayne Kingdom. Their warriors are as arrogant as one can be. Also, Xuan stage is around Rank 4, they have this whole needlessly complicated ranking system. Every other kingdom has used Rank 1, 2, and so on as a measurement of strength. But Wayne does sh*t like Nascent Soul, Foundation Establishment, etc.'

Ain too has a cringing look on her face as the man continues berating them. "Kowtow to me a hundred times and maybe then I will forgive your insurrection."

"..." Alex looks at the man like he is retarded. "You really love the sound of your own voice, old man."

Veins pop on the forehead, but he suddenly stops and sniffs the air. He didn't smell anything, but the air felt heavier than usual. 'Odorless poison?' Wonders the old man. 'Since the young master is in the carriage I should get rid of it.'

Fwosh!

With a swing of his hand, wind is created, one that blows it away. 

Ain seems annoyed at this. "Tch, now I owe you 1000 Gold."

She complains while Alex gets a huge smile on his face. "Yep, knew he would blow it away."

*sigh* Ain sighs at this, then she gets an idea. "Hey, how about I owe you a big favor instead of money?"

"No way!" Alex shakes his head, a Magician's promise is worth pretty much nothing unless it is a contract enforced by devils or the Eye of Truth.

Ain pouts at that. She then looks at the old man, who has an enraged look. Neither Ain, nor Alex seemed to be paying attention to him, so this makes him go to his braking points and a giant green palm made out of Ki shoots at them.

Alex yawns at this. "<Blood Daemon>"

A giant red magic circle appears in front of him. Out of it a giant hand dripping hot red blood comes and clashes with it. 

BAAM!!

The hands clashed, the red hand crushed the green palm. The old man has a terrified look in his eyes, he goes to beg for his life. But suddenly he feels an internal intense heat.

He looks up and sees Alex smiling at him maliciously, with his childish appearance, it seems like a smile straight from a horror movie.

Pop!

The man's body explodes like a balloon, leaving just his skeleton behind. The skeleton flies towards the giant red hand and it disappears within the magic circle, together with the hand.

Ain sees this and can't help but be a little surprised at this. 'So he is already making deals with creatures of Hell… that isn't good. Does he know how dangerous they can be? Or he is just doing it without much preparation?'

Even she, considered as the peak of the Legendary Rank wouldn't dare mess with creatures of Hell carelessly. In that place strength doesn't matter, everything is about laws. 

At this time, out of the carriage, Lily comes dragging the corpse of a young child behind her. 

Alex is filled with pride at this. 'As expected of an Assassin Hero, she just straight up went and killed someone without even a person two Ranks higher than her noticed.'

As this relaxed atmosphere was all over them, Lily doesn't know how to feel about this. The child that she killed is just under ten years old, and while Ain and Alex didn't care about that. Lily was greatly troubled by this, though she hid her emotions quite well from them. Neither Ain nor Alex could read anything wrong with her appearance. 

"Now we go to the Dream Mage's dungeon." Confirms Alex, an excited smile very apparent on his face. 

Ain smirks too, but no longer as the innocent role of the girl, instead, she is truly smiling. Even as the Headmistress, Julie, she is happy, after all, the Dream Mage could give her some help. Because while others are confused about why he disappears, she knows the reason why.

'If this Dungeon gives me a definitive clue on how to go past the Legendary Rank… I should kill him shouldn't I?' She wonders while looking at Alex, who has a happy smile on his face too.

Julie keeps Alex alive and well protected because she hopes that one day he will grow past the Legendary Rank, then she too would understand how to go past it. But she never forgets that Alex is still a threat, and she wouldn't mind killing him, he could grow to be friends with her. 'Why take the chance?'

She then looks at Lily. 'She has the potential to reach Legendary Rank too, should orchestrate Alex's death as an enemy attack and make someone else the killer in retrospect. That would make her join me to get revenge on Alex's murderer. Hmmm… I can make that work. Plus she doesn't have the scary talent Alex has, so she is easily taken care of.'

Julie's mind was already orchestrating Alex's death and how she would get 100% of the benefits from it. She can see that even though Alex is smart and mature for his age, he doesn't have that cold outlook that comes with hundreds of years. 

If it was her, she wouldn't have killed the young master from the Wayne Kingdom. Instead, she would have tortured the family's secret martial techniques from the child.

Alex on the other hand looks at Ain and wonders what she is thinking. As she walks around with a happy look on her face. "Remember Alex, I get 25%, no matter what we find."

"Yes~ yes~" Alex says casually. 

"I am gonna buy so much food now with this. I am so gonna gamble all this money away." Says Ain, a very greedy look in her eyes. "No, I should invest it. That way I can always eat the best food in Magic City with a stable income."

Alex doesn't pay attention to her anymore and instead looks at Lily, sadly even though she is a Hero. She is in the end only seven years old, so her ability to grow past Rank 2 will be difficult before she is thirteen.

After all, she doesn't have an interface that collects Exp. But in the end, Alex plans to make her grow faster, a plan has been brewing in his head. One which will give power beyond the Status Interface.
