Ignorantly, on his eighteenth birthday, the Prince of Delphia chose a path of destruction. The prince was writing a spell with animal's blood on the ground.
"Are you sure, Young Lord?"
"Hundred percent, My lady,"
Determination flickering in his green eyes to prove his worth.
"Summoning the dragon of the Abyss, just to prove to your father your powers?"
Uncaring of the consequences, he was mentally prepared to show this world his purest blood, his powers.
"Lady Red, I am the future King of Delphia, Zephyr Sheria Elrond. I stand above all and today everyone will know it when I will make a dragon my slave."
The boy declared dominantly.
His green eyes overflowing with unbreakable determination, light brown hair scattered over his forehead, holding a strong posture.
It was a challenge he gave to himself.
A trial to prove himself for him.
Her mouth left gaped, not believing who induced those thoughts in his mind in the first place but it was just as his Father spoke.
'He stood on top of pride'
"Now, let's see what you can do, you damn dragon."
Licking his lips from thrill, Zephyr joined his hands like he was making a prayer before starting.
He memorized the spell and spoke it word to word, smirk growing darker by each passing second.
His blood pumping in anticipation to witness the worthwhile summoning.
"Therefore, I liberate you, the Dragon of the Abyss, the Ruler of Grief. Come forth, Zirkos!"
Inhaling, he slammed his hand down on the circle of blood he created, finishing his spell. He was losing his breaths, becoming excited in anticipation but nothing happened.
…Silence. Dead silence.
"Did you do it right, Young Lord?" Lady Red asked worriedly.
"Yes. I followed the ritual thoroughly-"
The pair paused with a gulp when the ground began to shake, cutting them off instantly.
Gradually, black smoke began to emerge, bringing a thick tension.
A dark, blinding shine spread around.
They groaned and covered their eyes from the smoke as it was summoned followed by a deafening roar, making their heads ring.
"What the…?"
And the smoke, the deadly sensation, an enormous scaly serpent slowly began to enter their world from the abyss.
A fire-breathing, emitting an unbearably sinister aura rose upward, spreading its deadly bat-wings.
"Oh.. my God."
The predatory reptile was in the air accompanied with ashes dispersing in the air, making it harder to see.
"Yes..! Yes! Did you see, Lady Red?! I have summoned a dragon! Can anyone do this!?" Zephyr shouted from the bottom of his lungs.
He turned breathless from the electrification, turning him to his Aunt.
The sight of the monster made him grin hysterically.
"You call me unworthy to become a King, Father. Look, I summoned a dragon… Now tell me, don't I deserve to hold pride in myself, huh?" He whispered, curling his hands in a fist to cheer his victory.
"Yeah-"
She turned to contemplate the barbaric creature but its undefeated power froze her body.
Her proud feelings, they couldn't last long when Lady Red shivered violently with tears brimming in her eyes.
Her steps stumbled, pointing at the dragon.
Her heart was consumed with darkness, horror took over her. She never thought it would actually be possible.
She didn't expect the spell to be fulfilled.
"Young Lord…"
"What-"
Laughing triumphantly, he turned to see and the felicity on his face vanished, replaced with horror at the size of the maroon and black dragon.
"What the hell…?"
His eyes widened in horror when it let out a deafening roar, hitting the barriers Zephyr placed to trap him in the cave with his spiky tail.
It was powerful enough to shake the whole cave.
Gasping, they moved back but his gigantic size and immeasurable power became visible.
The instant realization of the difference in their powers sank in.
"What is this monster…?" Zephyr gulped.
Taking a step back when the ground was vibrating and their hearts pounded in anticipation.
All he knew about dragons was from books.
They didn't mention it would be horrifying enough to make a soul shake. His throat dried as he noticed his hands were trembling.
'Am I shaking… from fear? I? The Prince of Delphia, is scared?' He thought in disbelief, staring at his hands, losing his mind.
The dragon noticed the pair and exhaled his fierce flames to them.
"Young Lord!"
Frightened, Lady Red, pushed them out of the way, creating a shield to protect them but to no avail. It burned her arm.
"Ah!"
Groaning in pain, she fell on the ground, holding her burned arm, breaking into a painful sob.
"Lady Red!" Zephyr gasped, unable to do anything.
His body couldn't move. Those powers were unforeseen, they had no idea it would be this extreme.
"Dammit!"
All the plans he made in his mind became non-existent. A tear pricked in his eyes when the realization sank in-
He was no match for it.
"Don't let it… leave the cave." She hissed.
Moving her fingers over her burn to soothe it down with her spell. She specialized in medicine and barrier magic.
She was no fighter. The only reason she was there was for protection.
The dragon ignored them, considering them measly and turned to the barriers, tilting its sinister head to break them and set himself free.
"No, no, I can't let it leave." Zephyr gulped, curling his hands in a fist.
'Get up, dammit!'
Screaming internally, he forced himself to stand and cast a spell.
"Holy Chains!"
Chains emerged from the ground and tried to lock around its leg to stop it from leaving, bringing it down. And his action of pulling him down, infuriated him.
"It's too strong, Young Lord." Lady Red hissed.
Failing to maintain the barrier when it hit the barriers constantly, making the ground shake badly.
The dragon moved its wing, giving it a strong rush, breaking the chains which caused his arms to twist badly.
"Argh! My arms!" Zephyr screamed.
Falling on his knees and releasing his chains instantly. He trembled violently in horror at his immense power. The chains faded, failing to perform before this dragon.
"Young- Ah!!"
Lady Red tried to come and protect her nephew but it hit her with its tail, throwing her afar.
She coughed blood, falling on the ground and holding her sides.
"Lady Red! You-"
The demonic dragon stared at the frightened boy's eyes for the next few seconds.
The death-stare into his soul which immobilized Zephyr.
Inducing the realization of what he had done before breaking his barriers in a second.
"No!!"
He screamed, hoping to stop this creature from running loose and ruin his country but it was too late.
"No-"
He was about to do anything but to no avail.
Curling his hands in a fist, he stood stunned when everything fell apart by his one mistake and the creature he intended to make his slave was now gone.
"No… No, this isn't what I wanted…"
Falling on his knees, the green eyes of the eighteen years old boy widened in horror.
When he saw his attempts ending in vain and the dragon escaped to cause horror in his peaceful kingdom.
Before his very eyes, everything was ruined, the prideful prince of Delphia failed.
