Justin's sword hit the ground, wobbled, and settling into place in the undergrowth.
The tiger seemed suspicious. The lingering aurym power in the cat's eye claymore kept its blade alight for half a second before the a'thri'ik shards went out entirely, dousing the jungle into total darkness. Justin could not see the tiger. He could not see anything.
He closed his eyes and called on aurym.
Suddenly, the energies of a million life forces around him could be sensed-and seen through his closed eyelids. Their combined, overlapping presences formed a great blur at first, and finding the spirit energy of the tiger was like trying to see a light bulb against the sun. But, like tuning a radio, Justin adjusted his senses. Some of the lesser life forms were reduced in intensity. The trees faded and became the backdrop to brighter spots: animals. Most of them were far away-he was seeing them through the trees and the foliage, he realized.
