Chapter 48: Nevena
When I opened my eyes, I wasn’t sure what was really going on because I felt like I was floating. The night sky above me indicated that I was either soaring upwards towards heaven or that I was somewhere outside.
I had to have been outside. Because if I was in heaven, Ivan would’ve been there with me, and when I reached out with my hands, I couldn’t touch his.
“She’s awake!”
Someone shouted and then half-a-dozen faces appeared over me. I blinked a few times and then I realized that I knew some of them…

Suddenly, I remembered everything and I got up.
“Hey, hey,” said a voice and I looked around and my eyes found Ivan’s. He had just arrived and he gently placed his hand on the back of my head. “Take it easy. You went through a lot.”
I turned around to wrap my hands around his neck, but then searing pain in my right shoulder reminded me of the knife that Volkova used to stab me before I killed her.
