Chapter 38: Nevena
The cave was dark, all the Lights of Danitsa snuffed out by Baba Roga.
But as soon as I thought of them, a bright ball of light just appeared and Baba Roga recoiled from the light, covering her ugly face.
“Curses! My eyes!”
“Get over it, old witch,” I said. My voice sounded foreign even to me. From the little bit I could see from the small light emitted by the Light of Danitsa that I somehow summoned, I could tell that Baba Roga hadn’t been back in her cave for a very long time. It looked a lot like how we left it before Katarina chased us out of here.
Katarina… I wondered if I was ever going to see her again. She was one of the good ones, I knew it in my heart, before she went completely mad and was taken by Mora.
Baba Roga recoiled from the light again, but she stared at me. She looked even worse than the first time I saw her. It seemed that the trip to hell and back didn’t really agree much with her complexion.
