Chapter 28: Nevena
“The Sledovik is almost completely broken!”
“A horde of beda demons are at the gate!”
“Starosta Volkova’s requesting everybody’s hands on deck!”
Shouts could be heard all around us as we ran out of the Midnight Garden. The castle had stopped shaking and trembling, but not quite. Just when you thought everything was calm and nice, the Academy would give a tremble that knocked preternaturals left and right.
“I really hope that Starosta Volkova knows what she’s doing,” said Ivan as we ran down the corridors, and down the stairs. From hallways, the scared faces of children preternaturals were popping left and right, all of them scared and some of them excited.
What? It was a weird school, I’m telling you.
“You can’t come with me,” said Ivan, suddenly stopping abruptly. I didn’t realize that we were in the hallway where Katarina’s room was.
“No way I’m staying locked up in the room. Not when you are going. What if one of those things comes after me?”
